“Best yet in salou”
Reviewed May 10, 2013

Just returned from a week at this supetb hotel Me and my wife have stayed in various hotels in salou even at the blaumar which bevause of its position is is held in high regardbut this was better! Ok the position is about a 10 min walk to the beach but dont let that put you off .the staff were great many thanks to Garythe restaurant manager who will make you more than welcome. The food was fantastic always something nice.Nice big bedrooms Very clean and maintained .Nice pool area which is a sun trap in the afternoon . My only minus for this hotel is the bar prices ok they not over exspensive but i feel more guests would stay in with a little reduction .Overall i would recommend this hotel highly Beautiful

Information in my previous review still apply but some subtle improvements have been made. Rooms are still spotless but the bathroom provides little bottles of shampoo and shower gel rather than the difficult to open sachets. Staff are a huge asset with really friendly maids and a pleasant reception but the real gem is scouser Gary, the maitre d' and his waiting staff. Tables are quickly cleared and orders taken for drinks without any pressure. Gary chats to all the guests and satisfaction can be guaged by the number of repeat bookings.
For those who cannot be without a fix of the internet, the wifi in reception costs a euro for an hour, which is reasonable. However, the real meanies can get it free in the scottish bar across the road.
Two pieces of advice if travelling via Barcelona by train. Firstly, watch out for thieves in Barcelona Sants. We lost a case from under our noses by being diverted by someone asking for directions. The police station is in Place catalunya, about 15 minutes away and officers speak good english. It's still annoying as it seems a big problem in Barcelona. Best to go one station further where there are less opportunities for crime.
Secondly, if you're over 65 and using the train, buy a tarjeta d'or pass. This costs just over 5 euros and gives big discounts on train tickets. It is valid for a year so big savings can be made. Apart from the crime in Barcelona, the Spanish rail system puts ours to shame

Room Tip: ask for a poolside room if going outwith really hot months as they get the best of the sun. There is...

Stayed here for one week in September half board. Staff very polite and helpful..bar staff are excellent fun. Ok so the entertainment was not brilliant but it is what you make it...so we made the most of it!
Food was lovely and the drinks in the bar not that expensive...cheaper than at home.
Would definately go back.
On thing that nobody seems to mention is that this hotel is geared up for wheelchairs and even has a disabled lift for the pool.

Great hotel. Staff are really friendly and definitely efficient.
Choices of food are very good, and the bar staff are brilliant. Will be going back again. Make sure you visit the light show at the fountains down at the beach, its only 5-10 minute stroll past the shops.

Me and my wife spent five days here. On arrival we were pleasantly surprised that, due to our late arrival, they had kept staff on to feed us! (Plus point from me) the reception staff were top draw and very helpful!
Restaurant: helpful guy running the restaurant but got the impression his staff didn't want to be there!!
Food: a bit bland but passable.......best meal of the day was breakfast.
Entertainment: dire!!
Bar: abrupt baseman and expensive
Pool: I imagine it would be too small in the height of summer! Sun loungers need re tightening( uncomfortable ). The life guard reads a lot once she has picked her spots!!!
Accommodation: top draw for cleanliness but don't get a room at the front of the hotel! We had to have the balcony doors open as they had turned off all of the air conditioning!! And the noise was shocking through the night!!

Overall we enjoyed our stay we found a little bar directly across from the hotel! Much cheaper than the hotel and very pleasant!!

Would I go again? Yes I would but either early season or late as I imagine the restaurant and pool could not handle a full hotel

Room Tip: Get a pool side room

Stayed here for a week half board and found the hotel itself to be more than adequate and as per previous reviews

The staff though I would happily sack quite a few of them. Reception staff are very good and efficient. In the resturant it's a different matter. There head man is good along with most of the male staff. There is one one who works in there who is very miserable and I find rude. Thin girl who the whole week never smiled once not think twice about cutting you up when carrying food to your table.
The entertainment girl looks like she is sucking a lemon all day and the life guard spends all day legs crossed picking at scabs on her legs. Rant over.

The reception area is large and functional and the staff within it give good and accurate service. The rooms are adequate with reasonable bathrooms and balcony, the air condition is functional. The dining room is pleasant with an selection of foods that should satisfy everybody, plenty of fresh fruit was available. Service was responsive and friendly, though we should say that we noticed the staff member frying on the griddle disappear off to the kitchen and bring out chilled foods and desserts without washing hands or changing gloves, a disaster waiting to happen?!!
All in all good location and typically Spanish.
