“Lovely clean hotel, great location”
Reviewed August 15, 2012

Arrived early morning and was very impressed our room was ready for us. We had a great room on the corner so had a double balcony overlooking pool & even had a see view. There we 2 adults & 3 kids in our party, so we had a room with 2 singles & in the other room 2 single beds & sofa bed which didn't leave much room but was fine for us, we only sleep in there really anyway. Large flat screen tv that has BBC world news & CNN too. Cleaning staff we fantastic, always friendly and very hardworking. Our rooms were cleaned EVERY day and beds seemed to be constantly changed too.
Pools were cleaned everyday too and our kids were never out of them. You can use Salou Parks pool too which again is fab. Staff at pool bar were also lovely, always happy to help, especially Bella who one night was subjected to the most rude man I have ever seen - she handled herself very professionally - I would've put coffee over his head!!!! We didn't find it expensive at all €3.60 for 2 bottles of San Migel. €5 cocktails most hotels charge way more than this.
Entertainment wasn't great, but we tend not to stay in the hotel anyway. One of the children's entertainers 'christina' was fantastic with kids, she was really enthusiastic and seemed to genuinely love her job. Felt like other kids entertainers were not really interested to be honest and just sort of did what they had too.
We booked B&B, breakfast was not really our taste, though our daughter did like pancakes. But hotel is just across from Oliver's restaurant & that did fantastic breakfasts, and lunches and teas
too! Gotta give it a try.
Hotel is in a fab location, small beach 5 min stroll away and lots of bars close by too.
Overall I would defo recommend hotel as a base for nice clean rooms, pool & location.

Room Tip: Our room was 512, double balcony with pool view & sea view too

Didn't look bad on the pictures but wasn't as nice as me & my Girlfriend expected.
Staff was really helpful & polite they all spoke good English the maid stripped our bed everyday and gave us clean sheets.
The pool isn't great at all its too small and the tiles around the pool are red which means its like standing on top of a cooker when the sun is out lol
The entertainment was dyer everybody left the area as soon as it starter we kept sneaking into the hotel next door for the entertainment lol
The food was great i have no complaints about that although though i did the breakfast buffet got a bit samey..
The location is great only 100m to a nice little beach which is a lot quieter that the main beach in salou and only 100m in the center of town.
The hotel has plenty of bus stops near by its cheap enough if you want to go to portaventura or water parks etc. if you do go to portaventura i advise you to get the night pass which is half price and you don't Que for rides...
Also our room was very clean and tidy although the air con isn't too powerful so we had to leave open the balcony doors through the night and there was a tree outside our room so we got bit to death by mozzis!!
& also DO NOT BUY DRINKS FROM THE BAR AS YOU MAY HAVE TO REMORTGAGE YOUR HOUSE WITH THOSE PRICES!!!

if you are looking for a room with a view look somewhere else, you only have another hotel block to look at from your balcony. We stayed B/B and the breakfast was quite good, with something for everyone, fruit, cereal, pastries, yoghurts, and lovely eggs, bacon, beans, tomatoes etc. All parts of hotel were clean, but very hard beds and pillows. Location was really excellent, very near to two beaches, we opted for the smaller and nearer beach 5-10 mins stroll, down steep steps, however if you want to avoid returning via the steep steps back up, just walk back on the little road, much gentler climb. Beach was nice and clean, and sea was beautiful, not cold at all. Loungers and parasol 14 euros a day,for two people.
The down side is the staff with limited English, don't seem to be organised properly. we hired a hairdryer and paid at the time with the duty receptionist, however a different receptionist wanted payment again, they don't seem to make records. We also booked a late room checkout till 6pm, 30 euros as we had a late flight home 10pm. When the time came however we were told no room had been booked, (different receptionist again)., we had a bit of a mad scramble as we were told to vacate our room in 15 mins.We didn't have to pay, but it was no fun having to rush like mad on our last day. They just don't seem to make adequate records.

Salou is a nice enough resort, and very reasonable to eat and drink out. A lot of competition as there are a lot of places to go. Little Hampton, is very nice to eat as is Orient express.

My partner and I stayed here last week and were quite worried after reading some of the reviews but when we arrived the reception area was immaculate the floors were gleaming and the staff were very helpful, we were given our keys and went up to our room which was very clean and sufficient for us, the bed was a bit on the hard side but thats hotel beds for you! the only complaint i could write about this hotel was that there was work being done above our room and at 8.30 every morning there was banging and drilling, but we just took it as a wake up call to go and get brekfast which was served between 8-10am. we had just the breakfast included with our stay but it wasnt a bad breakfast with a lot of variety, cereals, yoghurts, different types of bread, beans , sausages , bacon , eggs etc etc quite tasty! the pool area was clean and tidy! over all i cannot really fault this hotel, would definatley stay here again as it is only a few minutes walk from the beach and shops/bars/clubs/resturants etc! The maids cleaned the rooms and replaced the towels every day! there are some great food places near the hotel such as Uncle Sams Diner and Olivers right across the road more or less, great food and great prices! Would recoomend the hotel !

Stayed here sept 2011 and was fairly satisfied with the hotel and i would stay there again. Rooms are very clean and thats mainly what we wanted. Short 100 yds walk to a lovely small beach and was close to the shops. Food was ok, but can be a bit tastless and fussy eaters would not enjoy it. All in all really pleased i stayed here but would advise to going self catering instead of half board.

Wasn't expecting much of this hotel but was surprised by how nice it was, really clean - was cleaned every day by friendly staff!
The food could have been better but it wasn't too bad! The pasta was always quite nice and there was a good choice at breakfast.
The only thing I didn't like was that there were no locks on the bathroom, so felt a bit exposed but that didn't matter too much!
Our balcony was huge and the beds were comfortable and I would stay here again :)
There is a bar across the road called Rio Grande and the staff there are so lovely as is the food, and at decent prices :)
Beach isn't far - about a 10 min walk and there are loads of shops and restaurants easily accessible.

This was the first time staying at this hotel, was not disappointed at all. Great location for the beach and town. We stayed for 8 days, we came over for a Soul weekender, so the hotel was Ideal for us as much of the venues we had to go to were very near by. The service was great, rooms clean every day, food very nice, loved the variety, would especially like to thank the Hotel receptionist, for letting us change rooms, when we arrived they gave us a family room, it was tiny, they moved us to a nice big double room with rap around balcony, really nice. This was the third time being in Salou, love it each time I go back.

Room Tip: Corner rooms are large and sunny with large balcony
