Me and my mother just come back from cala font in salou .the hotel was very clean and the maids very helpful I have stay in alot of hotel this year and would stay I would rate this as a five star.the view from the room was Excellent.the Only problem is they should have
A stop Volume for the TV .as Russian think there the only ones there and don't have Respect for other holiday makers asleep .yes I do Agree there are 90% Russian there and think there no Queueing
And in the Restaurant take all the food Piling up the plates.but the restaurant was keep clean and the food was very good any body the says it's not they need to try a few more place lots of Variety Even for
English .the Reception were very Helpful alway had a smile and there is a little shop in the hotel and it's cheap and the guy is a nice guy helpful Friendly sells English papers .yes I is yet Hilly .i did think that local shop where Friendly. You can get a bus train for 3 euro and get off anywhere in salou nice for child's .over all I would stay there again I think all the staff work very hard to keep the Standard if the hotel up one more thing if you book with Ryanair don't book the on line
Transfer it's a con I payed £28 and when I got to the airport it's a local bus that the guy can't speak English is rude and I ended up spending £35 euro on a taxis and not get on the bus it Doesn't even drop you near your hotel so don't Waste your money on line

Things to be aware of when travelling as part of a package to this hotel:

1) We were informed at the desk that groups are 'kept together' - we recently travelled with Jet2 (UK).....all people with our party were allocated to rooms on a low floor with poor, obscured sea views or back views. When asked if we could move to a higher floor with a sea view (even if we paid a supplement), the head receptionist said that it wasn't possible and that she must keep groups together - this was very dissapointing as my mother is 70 and has visible mobility problems and we were forced to look at a wall all week - the only alternative was either overlooking a road or on a downstairs floor 2 metres from the noisy bar area - this room was level with the pool - where everyone could see into the room. I nearly cried when I saw what they gave us.

2) The clientele are 90% Russian. Good people but the obvious language barrier is a problem.

3) The dining hall is filled to capacity at dinner time - several times there were long queues at the door to be seated.

4) Food is varied but badly laid out - everyone stretching over to reach the salads (not good if you're in a wheel chair). I have travelled all over the world and the food quality in the Cala Font is about 2-3 star. Also there were flies around the soup pots some nights. Also, the margarine/butter should be next to the bread...and the sliced bread should be more near the toaster on a morning.....little things like this make a world of difference. Milk jugs would be handy too.

5) A queue forms at meal times and 80% of the time they were late opening the dining room doors.

5) Room interior is really nice - great cleaning service (and early which is great especially if you come back early as we had to do due to my mother's mobility problems). They could do with buying in a new batch of towels, however, as they were pretty grey and coarse.

6) Overall - if you are one of the lucky ones who get a room with a fabuolous sea view, I would say the hotel is 4 star...if you're looking at the bricks/road all week you will be saying it's a 3 star.

7) A message to Jet2 - include an option on your booking form so that guests can pay a supplement for the sea view rooms!!!

8) I liked Salou (espcially Cambrils for the high-end shopping)...I will return, but not to this hotel.

Room Tip: Book via their web.

My boyfriend and I really enjoyed our holiday and thought the hotel was lovely although the walls are paper thin and be prepared for a lot of grumpy loud Russians and they're obsession with water melon.

The pool area is lovely & the hotel is really clean, have to agree with the other comments on the food though definitely not much choice & variety.

Room Tip: If you want watermelon you may be quick for the Russians are obsessed with it

The hotel was beautifully clean in both public areas and bedrooms. The food was not as good. There was little variety, the desserts being exactly the same every day. The food was not replenished very quickly and it was quite common to be faced with empty serving trays, on 2 occasions there were no meat choices available and it was only 30 minutes into Dinner service. The entertainment was mediocre, if it happened at all. Cap Salou is very hilly, ( not mentioned in website or brochure) and offers little by way of entertainment or food. Very good bus services to Tarragona, Reus and Salou. The pool was lovely and the hotel has a perfect location on the beach. If the food had been better and the staff a little more pleasant this could be a good hotel

Room Tip: The entertainment is held in the pool area outside and goes on till late, very loud. You would be be...

All in all, hotel was good for price we paid. Wasn't expecting much but it was clean and closeby to beach/bus services. 2 major issues during our stay though, firstly, the food was just terrible. We were half board and used this service twice. I'm not sure whether it just didn't suit Irish/English diets, because other Europeans seemed to enjoy it, but both nights I found myself eating chips, salad and bread.
Second issue is the rule that only goods bought at the hotel can be bought on the premises. Therefore if you buy something at the local supermarket etc you cannot eat in the hotel/ at the pool, which I though was unfair as we were not all inclusive. Bar woman at the poolside bar was extremely rude concerning this, and threatened to take the bottle of Sprite if it was not removed in '8 minutes'... stupid really.
Aside from this, if you are just looking somewhere to stay this hotel is fine. Would like to see the hotel have free Wifi for all guests in the future.

Room Tip: Ask for seaside, and higher up the building. First 2 floors suit families, and walls are thin so can...
