Cant really understand people who give this hotel a bad review, they must have been to a different hotel to me! All staff are friendly, and so were most of the other guests too, rooms very nice, a decent size, nice bathroom, a fab balcony, with great views wherever you are situated. The entertainment finishes at 12 midnight, and then very little noise can be heard, although you can hear from next door if you have a particularly noisy family in there. This hotel is so clean too, from the rooms to the pool area, all are spotless. We used to put our towels on sunbeds at 9.30 on way to breakfast and there were always plenty spare. We never had to queue for breakfast at that time either. The hotel is also in a great position, quite a quiet area, but not too far away from the bars, beach and the amazing portaventura theme park. The only reason im not giving this hotel five stars is because the food, as nice as it was, was sometimes a bit too spanish for me, although i suppose we were in spain! I would give this hotel 4.5 if I could, and would definitely recommend it.

Room Tip: rooms on the higher floor facing portaventura are the best.

We stayed here for 2 weeks in August this year, half board. The hotel is very very noisy, the walls are like paper, you can hear everything from the staff cleaning in the next room to the entertainment down by the pool, & there seemed to be no let up till after 1am and then it started again at 7am. AS the other patrons were very inconsiderate & let their kids run around shouting & screaming at all times, you couldn't even catch up with a siesta in the afternoon !! We had requested a quite room, on a higher floor away from the noise with a double & single bed. We got a room on 3rd floor facing the noisy pool with 2 single camp style beds & a chair bed, all of which were very uncomfortable ! The single camp beds were shoved together but kept sliding apart because of the metal legs on a tiled floor. The rooms are very small, there is a TV, but no international channels, so only Spanish programmes. There is a safe that you pay for, wifi that you can access for free but only in the reception & its a bit hit & miss. The bathrooms are tiny, there is a shower/bath combi but the shower head is not adjustable & quite high up, the water sprays all over the place, no safety mat is provided in the bath so not only is the bath slippy, when you step out the whole bathroom is slippy from the water that has sprayed out ! You receive the bare minimum of towels, it took the cleaning staff ages to get your room cleaned, as a result i often had go looking for dry towels or toilet paper, we used a lot of the towels to dry up the floor in the bathroom. The cleaning staff elsewhere in the hotel had a tendency to clean the lifts & main doors at the busy times so this caused major delays, they also cleaned around you if you were relaxing, so you would have to move your belongings or feet out of the way to accommodate them ! The food was ok, often long ques unless you were down before 9am, if you were into salads this was your dream buffet, otherwise you were stuck with a lot of pork or fish/seafood dishes, the food seemed very cheap, quite fatty, a lot of fried stuff, & a lot of overcooked, over salted food. It became very monotonous ! You had to pay for your drinks at lunch & dinner, we only had water at lunch & it cost us over 30euros! They advertised a kids club, but it wasn't a kids club, it was kids entertainment, as there was a lot of Spanish speakers there, it was geared towards them, so our kid couldn't interact & make friends which is unusual for him. We specifically wanted a proper kids club for him so he wouldn't be stuck with us as he is very sociable, this is what they advertised but not what was on offer, plus the entertainment wasn't advertised very well, usually only in Spanish or you had to go asking what was on. If a child wanted to participate in anything they really had to put themselves out there, so not for shy kids! There is a games room but you pay for everything in it. The pool area is very small, there's not enough umbrellas & the sunbeds weren't adjustable so quite uncomfortable, plus you had to "book" a sunbed before 8am or you wouldn't get a shady spot or umbrella !!! We met some very selfish people there, booking the sunbeds but not actually using them till much later in the day, as a result families had to cope with the sun because of the lack of umbrellas & room. The pool bar food was very limited & it was the only place in the hotel that was dirty, the floor was filthy. The spa was very limited, just a small amount of massages & facials my wife was disappointed as there wasn't even the basic of most spas, manicure/pedicure ! Also most staff didn't speak english & it was a matter of luck whether you got a helpful staff member at the main desk, one in particular was quite a grump ! I don't know how people say its only 10mins to the beach or centre even going out the back gate its a minimum of 25/30 mins walk. All in all for the money we paid it was not worth it, definatley not a 4 star hotel it lacked the basic comforts that make a 4 star, only for the fact the did half board & had some entertainment i would have said this was a pretty basic 2 star hotel, really not worth the money we paid & we paid a lot as we had to amend our dates (because of illness) & it cost us an extra 300euros more, even tho there was plenty of availability & what was available was cheaper than the price we originally paid ! So we were quite disgusted with the misleading facilities & service !!!!!!!

Room Tip: Ask for a high floor facing the main road as far away from the pool & main reception.

My family and I (hubby and two kids aged 6.5 and 3.5) stayed here 10 days half board from 28 July - 6 August 14. We booked via Alpharooms and got a fairly decent rate. We flew into Barcelona with Easyjet so had a rather long transfer time (about 1.5hrs on shared shuttle with drop offs at other hotels). We could have flown into Reus with Ryanair but you couldn't pay me to fly with them, especially with the kids based on past experience so that's the compromise we had to make.

On arrival, we were given a room on the 5th floor over looking the pool. The room was very small, with a double bed and a sofa bed shoved together for the kids. They were perfectly comfortable. There was a tv in the room along with a small fridge which was handy. The room also had a sliding door wardrobe with drawers along with the safe. The bathroom had a shower over the bath but our shower head was broken on arrival. We reported this to reception and they sent a maintenance guy to fix it within 10 mins. There were liquid soap dispensers on the wall and they left you some plastic cups, a shower cap and what I think was a shoe polishing sponge! Rooms were cleaned every day with towels changed however inmy view, this was a perfectly good three star but it lacked the extra touches normally associated with a 4 star so I wouldn't personally class it as a 4 star.

The hotel was well maintained and very very clean. The majority of the staff were friendly and welcoming, in particular the dining room staff. They were always giving the kids hugs and handing them lollies! Most of the staff spoke some English so we had no issues communicating.

The hotel had a very large dining room and as we stayed half board, we had a breakfast and dinner. Breakfast was always very busy, less busy at dinner time. Breakfast was from 7.30am -10.30am and dinner from 7.30 pm - 10.30pm. The food could be a bit hit and miss on some days, (some of the meat dishes were very salty and the lamb and pork were always rather fatty for my likening) but there were always plenty of choice to suit most and they had a fresh grill station at the back of the restaurant for freshly cooked stuff each breakfast and dinner time (even american style pancakes on some days!) Loved the salad selection and there was always something for my fussy two to eat and plenty of dessert items and fresh fruit. We saw queues for breakfast and dinner but this was always towards the latter end of the stated dining times; we had breakfast between 8.30-9.30am most days and never had to queue for longer than a couple of minutes. Drinks aren't included with the evening meals half board, not even water which needs to be paid for separately.

The pool was rather small for the size of the hotel but well maintained and very clean. Food and drink by the pool side could be expensive but the guys were friendly and efficient. They had a baby pool as well. The most annoying thing about the pool side was that despite the signs saying not to reserve the sun beds this was never enforced!

The hotel was very close to Port Aventura Park, about a 10-15 min stroll with the kids or you could use the free shuttle service provided by the hotel but you had to reserve a seat for the 9.30am and 10am departures. There were other departures during the day that you didn't need to reserve for. The mini bus has 25 seats (I counted them!) so it did 2 trips in the morning. We usually walked to the park and then caught the shuttle back. There was also a free shuttle to the beach but again, this was a 10-15 mins walk if you used the gate at the poolside rather than walk around the front of the hotel.

The hotel had a kids club which the kids used twice whilst we're there and they reported they had a fun time. There was also a very popular mini disco each night after dinner which the kids absolutely loved. The animation team were brilliant full of energy and very engaging with the kids. I heard a few mumbles about the entertainment being in Spanish form the other English guests but so what; there were a lot of Spanish guests at the hotel and we were in Spain! The characters from Port Aventura park also came to the hotel to meet and take photos with the kids (we had visits from Elmo and Woody Woodpecker most days!)

As we overlooked the pool, we got the full blast of the night entertainment till midnight each night but I'd read about this so we brought ear plugs. We did ask for a room facing the road when we got there but they were full so couldn't move us. If you have kids, you should consider asking for a road view room in advance when booking if you like to sleep at a decent hour or take ear plugs like we did.

Whilst in Salou, my bag was stolen from the McDonald's on the beach front, and I lost my mobile phone and €140 in cash. Please be vigilant with your belongings as this is very common there apparently. We didn't let it ruin our holiday though and we had a fantastic time regardless. We did trips to Cambrils, Tarragona, Barcelona and to Monserrat all using Bus Plana as well as days by the beach and at Port Aventura. Overall a wonderful summer holiday and we would return to Salou again and possibly to this hotel again.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the road if you have kids or you like going to bed before midnight as the...

This is seriously a beautiful place to stay. Just back from 10 days stay and can honestly say it was one of the nicest hotels I've ever visited. 10 mins walk from town and beach (if you use the back gate!!). Spotless clean all the time, I really don't know how they did it. Can't recommend it highly enough. Wouldn't have fancied the all inclusive as the all you can eat spread wouldn't be for me but it looked okay. Could do with a decent restaurant or bar food menu is the only negative thing i could say, food on offer away from the all inclusive was very limited (burgers, sandwiches etc) but we ate out so no major. Very family orientated with entertainment on all day for the younger kiddies at the pool. Will def be back!!!!

Room Tip: Rooms on the "road side" would be quieter, also the view is nice as the area is kept so we...

Just back from a 10 day stay and would recommend this hotel. The room was very clean with a fridge and bathroom was well equipped with a very powerful shower. We had a family room which was on the small size but didn't matter to much as we were not in the room much.
Our children loved the breakfast and evening meal, there was lots to choose from and staff didn't mind at all if they made a mess!!!
The staff were all very friendly especially the restaurant and reception staff.
The pool area was very clean and we made good use of the swimming pool, one small problem was if you want a sunbed you have to reserve it early which we found a little annoying.
The hotel provide a free bus service to the theme park and beach, which we used on several occasions. Also the local land train runs and their is a stop right outside our hotel.
All in all I think this hotel was excellent and would recommend.

Room Tip: If you want a quieter room especially at night, don't choose one over looking the pool

Tripadvisor allows a rating of 3/5 (average) or 4/5 (very good). I'd say it fall's in between as a good hotel. I had originally planned to stay in Salou for five nights before moving on to another area for a further five nights. I booked Vi la Romana for my five nights in Salou. Later it proved difficult to get the time off for the second part of my holiday, so we settled on an eight night duration holiday, but it seemed pointless packing up and travelling to another area for three days, possibly losing one day of holiday just travelling. So we elected to just stay in Salou for the full eight nights, the only trouble was trying to secure Vi la Romana for a reasonable price for the extra three nights. In the end we choose to book Sol Costa Daurada for an excellent price on a half board basis. The Sol is literally just three minutes walk away and come moving day the switch over went really well. Allowing us to check in at 12 noon, two hours earlier than in customary in Salou. The check in was very efficient and allocated us a pool facing room on the fifth floor. Although the room was much smaller tgan the one we had just left next dood, we found this one much brighter, lighter and more airey. Our room had a double bed and a sofa bed. There was a mini fridge to keep your drinks cool and plentiful storage in the wardrobe. Bathroom was small but adequate and kept clean by the maids daily. Towels were a better quality than next door. The only thing this hotel lacked over Vi la Romana was the wi-fi only worked in reception. Surely as a 4* in this day and age it should be available across the hotel. The food in general had a lot less choice than Vi la Romana, but what there was, was to a good standard. I don't know if it was because this hotel was not very full atthe time, but dining was a much more pleasant experience at the Sol. I preferred the restaurant over Vi la Romana. Staff were very cheerful too.

The hotel has nightly entertainment in the bar, there is even a separate irish pub at the back which is a nice addition. We did not bother with any of the activities around the pool. I ventured into the pool once and found it to be freezing. Other than that we really just used the hotel as a base to eat and sleep. This hotel is very functional in appearance and quite minimal. Bare concrete and glass. It looks like it was built in a hurry to fulfill a need for rooms in Salou. Even the pool area is just bare terrace with minmal greenery, so if you like your surroundings, it may well not appeal to you. Hotel corridors again just lacking something. You don't sleep in the corridor but it all adds the the impression and atmosphere.

Getting about from the hotel, its about fifteen minutes walk from the promenade, but the mini train stops outside. Portaventura is only a fifteen minute walk in the opposite direction, very easy to get to. We also hired bikes for the day to get around on. We cycled into Cambrils. I quite enjoyed seeing the contrast of two different hotels in the same resort, both having pluses and minuses over each other. In summary however I would return to this hotel, providing the price is good.

just back from one week half board at this hotel.. All around fantastic hotel, from the moment we arrived the staff at the hotel were so helpful Especially the porter "Paco", this man was so friendly and helpfull and always so pleasant. The rooms were spacious and spotlessly clean, We had a pool view,. which was great for the entertainment at night time. The kids were entertained during the day with the brilliant staff from the kids club, and at nighttime always entertaiment for the kids and the adults. great shows were put on each night. We went half board which was excellent - the choice of food in the dining room for breakfast and dinner was outstanding quality and choice. I trully enjoyed the week i spent at this hotel with my family and would have no problem in recommending it for a holiday.
