Having worked in hotels for 7 years i would NOT RECOMMEND staying at the four elements :Arrived at the hotel too find that the outside terrace was not available for use, due too it being out of season :/ so the lovely pictures showing you it all lit up is apparently only available for use June/sept. The room was clean but no views only that of the other guests opposite. The food was basic not what we expected at all, after having too queue for 30 mins for a buffet poor for the standard of hotel in my opinion. The entertainment? Well if your an adult there's playing cards, use wifi with your mobile, bingo and and a bit of music in the bar where everyone sat but has very limited space. They did have a lot on for kids as it was Halloween but I'm not sure who was supervising these groups as everywhere you looked there were kids running around and no adults in sight. We found the hotel very noisy and after having complained too the night staff that kids were running around late at night ringing the room buzzer, I was told he could do nothing. The hotel informed us on the wednesday that we would have to check out at 10am as the hotel was shutting its doors at 2pm for the end of the season, great when our flight wouldn' t be till 10pm on the sunday. We decided too move hotels rather than letting our holiday be ruined by staying at this hotel any longer. Most of the shops in La Pineda we're also closed for the season so not much to do unless you travel too nearby towns. The Four Elements hotel for our family holiday was an absolute disgrace and a waste of money not what we expected from a four star hotel at all. If your going to be open, be fully operational not half shut down because your closing next week and at least attempt to provide an enjoyable stay for all your guests after all everyone's paid to enjoy there time at your hotel.

Our only saving grace was when we moved too the five star hotel Gran Palas, which did cost a lot more but worth every penny, absolutely fabulous.

We have just spent a week in this hotel, we decided to take the self catering option as we were meeting up with relatives every day. The studio was very clean, beautifully decorated and had plenty of room for the two of us. Not a lot to criticise just one or two niggles. The kitchen area was just about equipped for two to four but no toaster or kettle . Also there was no seating on the balcony at all. Obviously we dont go on holiday to watch tv but although it was a state of the art tv they have no english channels or sky at all, everything was in spanish. The view from our room was a bit dull, at the rear of the hotel but the alternative is a pool view and I imagine in high season it could be very noisy. The pool area was very nice but small. I would'nt recommend this hotel for families, nothing for them to do but for us it was quiet and peaceful. The restaraunt was excellent with a great variety to choose from.; breakfast was especially good. No brochures or guides really but we did'nt need any. The staff were friendly and helpful. There is a bit of a hill from the seafront but we're in our 60s and did'nt have a problem with it. All in all I think this is a good well run hotel and would return here.

Room Tip: Not much of a view at the back of the hotel

Whilst this may be a modern hotel, it has reached a tipping point where if it doesn't get a deep clean and a bit of love soon it will slide into speedy decline.

We (2 adults & 1 small child) stayed here for a week starting on October 26th arriving at the hotel just after 3pm, thankfully by 3.30 our room had been cleaned so we didn't have to wait too long for the room which was supposed to have been ready at noon!

The ground floor 'suite' is furnished and decorated to a reasonable standard but after a few days you start to notice that it really is a case of 'style over substance' particularly for accommodation rated as circa 4 star, the missing grout in the bathroom, the drips of paint on the floor, broken & rusty sharp doorstops, chewing gum stuck to the door frames, spiders webs on lights, it just feels a bit unloved. Its the same in the corridors of the hotel, missing light bulbs leave the place feeling dark and just a bit dingy.

The Self Catering facilities were fine but basic. No oven, no grill just a very simple microwave and hob and a small selection of equipment, only really fit for a making a snack really, to cook a meal, or series of meals would have been very challenging.

But, we didn't pay a fortune for our break so it is possible to live with the above AND have a good holiday.....if only it wasn't for those parents who come away just to get a break from their kids!

If you, parents, don't like your kids enough to want to leave the bar and be with them, what on earth makes you think that other hotel guests are going to want to listen to them screaming round the bedroom corridors in the mornings, the afternoons and the evenings? It really was awful.

Sadly, as a brit, I have to recognise that it wasn't the Russian, French or Spanish families abandoning their kids and getting legless in the bar, it wasn't their children that were roaming the hotel like wild un-caged beasties, no it was the British families that really couldn't quite understand how to behave out in the real world.

As for the area, quiet (it is out of season) but loads to do if you are happy to travel, Reus, Salou, Tarragona all have nice town centres, museums and beaches. Cambrils is a little further away but well worth the 25 minutes by car. We managed to hit Market Day in all of those places and then have some beach time in the afternoons. Salou is good at this time of year, quiet enough to enjoy, I can't imagine how it must be in summer though!

Would we stay here again? Quite possibly, with our other kids too, but certainly not in school holidays unless we could guarantee that the hotel was happy to control any kids that the parents couldn't be bothered with.

This was my first holiday abroad and we stayed from 26th october until 2nd november 2012. This hotel was great. I had read the reviews before going and didnt expect much as it was out of season but thought it looked clean and modern so gave it a try.
Myself and my partner were really happy with our choice. The rooms were exactly how you see in the pics, had a hair dryer, towels, cutlery, microwave, fridge, cups etc. The only downfall was no kettle but we took a travel kettle so was ok for our tea in the room :).
When we arrived we had to pay a deposit on the room (we payed £60 english cash). We had read on the reviews about this so was prepared but to be honest if you havnt got it they didnt hassle you for it.
We stayed all inclusive and never went hungry. The breakfast was served between 8 and 10.30 and it was great. Bacon, sauasge, beans, cereals, eggs etc. hot chocolate juice you name it they had it. if they ran out of anything they went out their way to replace it.
Lunch was served between 1 and 3 and this consisted of chips, chicken, steak, a few fish dishes, pasta, bread rolls, nuggets and so on. Then dinner was at 6 until 10. This could have been curry, pasta chips, and so on. No 2 days were the same. They had chips everyday but this was great for any fussy little ones. It was all buffet and could eat as much as you liked. Then there was the bar snacks, hot dogs, burgers, toasties, pizzas etc. The all inclusive drinks were a little dissapointing. They had their own brand gin, whisky, barcardi, vodka but no malibu, ameretto or anything like that included or even cocktails. The bar staff were great too and really tried to have a laugh and join in with everyone. Paco was great, would defo made sure you got seen too and delt with any problem (not that we had any).
The decor of the hotel was great and the rooms had air con aswell as heating. The hotel could have done with extending wifi to the bedrooms rather than just downstairs but it wasnt a big issue for us.
The beach was just a little walk away but we could see the sea from our balcony. Easy to catch a bus to other resorts for a day out. We went Salou, Barcelona, bona vista for a day out. Barcelona zoo was great and defo worth the visit. Alot of the shops were closed in La Pineda and Salou but we did go out of season so did expect this.
The transfers were on time but they do leave you a short walk up a hill away from the hotel, this isnt the hotels fault though. The drivers dont like going up there cause its a one way street so it would mean going all the way bk round to get out again.
The only downfall was parents and controlling their kids. Parents would happily sit in the bar and drink while their kids were playing ball in the corridors or playing in the lifts. Even running around the pool being noisey late at night but a phone call to reception and they would sort it, just a shame the parents couldnt think sometimes. This is no fault to the staff though.
My boyfriend has been abroad many times and stayed all inclusive and he says this is the best hes stayed in, for my first holiday abroad i was really pleased it was so nice.
Already looking into booking next year and taking my kids.

Room Tip: We had a room that overlooked the pool and found this noisey at night so could imagine in high seaso...

Stayed with my children for a week half board at end of October. Very friendly staff and very clean accommodation. Food excellent. Much smaller than we expected tho with Entertainment squeezed into a corner of the bar in the evenings. Hotel starting to look in need of redecoration in places like the wallpaper in the dining room. Biggest problem for anyone older is the lack of lights in all corridors and stairs. Also if booking independent transfers the hotel is not in Salou. La Pinada is the local beach resort/ town and only 10 mins walk away. Salou is a 15 min drive away. Good value for money but must be a squeeze in high season.

This is a clean, modern style hotel with good sized rooms. The beds were rock hard however and our room lacked privacy because of the arrangement of the walkways. The fridge microwave and cooker was a bonus! The food was OK if you can live with this self service stuff but I lived on soup and salads from half way though the week as I didn't find it very appetising. Most of the staff were pleasant and courteous unlike some of the guests - seems to have been overrun by one nation in particular! Close to La Pineda and ideal if you want to get away from the hustle and bustle with a beautiful beach and a few restaurants along the seafront. Not a great place for young kids - the kiddy pool was quite deep (and very cold) with loose slabs around it resulting in a few trips and falls. The kids club was non existant until the Spanish visitors arrived at the weekend and there was no entertainment during the week either. The transfer from the airport was apalling - we had to trail up quite a steep hill with luggage, pushchair, young children and a partner who has just had a foot operation!! Not a great arrival - there was plenty of room for buses to stop outside.

Room Tip: Book a private taxi transfer to the door - A to B booked through Travel Republic dump you at the bot...
