“Really great location!!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 14, 2013

I stayed at this hotel for a week from the 16th June with a large group of around 17! This was to celebrate my friends hen week!!
The hotel staff was really helpful & all of the other guests enjoyed us being there! Our group ranged in ages from 17yr to 74yr! Yes most of the other guests at this hotel are of an older age, but i think this represents the fact that the hotel is of good quality as older people prefer somewhere with high standards! As a hen group we did not cause any trouble, we just came back a bit late most nights! This again wasn't a problem & the hotel staff were very nice!!
The hotel itself is very clean & rooms & towels are cleaned/changed daily! Food at the hotel was of good standard. We stayed half board & felt like there was more than enough selection at each meal time!
The best thing about the hotel is the location! It is just opposite the beach!! So if u need to go to back to your room it's just a hop skip & a jump!
Overall we all had a fabulous time & I would definitely recommend this hotel!

My husband and I have recently returned form an 11 day holiday at this hotel. This was our third visit. The reasons we choose to return are the location, the cleanliness and the professional staff. The food is of a high standard with lots of choice, the breakfasts are excellent. This is a small friendly hotel with good facilities . All the staff work hard to allow you to enjoy your stay. It is a nice walk to the harbour and the local buses are excellent and good value . There is so much to do in the surrounding areas . A visit to Malaga and Mijas was particularly good. I am quite a fussy person therefore I would not return to or recommend a hotel that was not up to a high standard. I would have no hesitation in returning to this hotel.

Room Tip: we like the rooms on the opposite side to the pool as they have afternoon and evening sun

We were allocated a 3rd floor room overlooking the pool we didn't like it as it had little privacy. Be warned though floors 1 and 2 are even worse. We asked to be moved to a higher floor and they agreed to move us the next day. We got a room on the 6th floor which was much better. Reception staff were not particularly friendly. The restaurant was more like a school canteen in fact I think a school would be better organised. I am not a fussy eater but struggled to find food that I liked. I don't think the quality came up to 4 star standards. We ended up eating out. The swimming pool area is okay but dated and to get a drink you had to go down some stairs back to the bar to get one. The hotel is on a busy dual carriageway which is very noisy so if you want peace and quite this hotel is not for you. On departure day through Thomson's because coaches are not allowed to park outside you have to go to the nearest bus stop which isn't a real problem except they give you a time but the coach may not turn up for 30 minutes. On the day we left we waited for 40 minutes in 30 degree heat with no shade waiting for the coach. It would be so simple to get the coach driver to ring reception when he is 5 minutes away and you could make your way up to the bus stop. But typical Thomson's they have got your money and couldn't really careless. One thing I will give the hotel is it is kept spotlessly clean We wouldn't choose to stay at the hotel again and really don't know how they have got a 4 star/sun grading. Have stayed in far better 3 star hotels.

Room Tip: 5th or 6th floor

Small and friendly, location is very good opposite the beach Fuengirola end. There are bar/café s closeby. The hotel is very clean and the staff are extremely helpful and friendly. The pool area is pleasant and there are always plenty of sunbeds. Food at Las Arenas is very good with plenty of variety, good quality and hot. The hotel has two outside terraces one for the bar area. Drinks are expensive compared to outside bars. E.g. Pint Lager 3.25 Euros hotel 1.50 Euros other bars. Wine 2.10 .....The hotel is set on a busy dual carriageway which is very noisy, so if you want peace and quiet both in your room and pool this is not a hotel for you. All rooms have BBC 1 & ITV channels. Entertainment is very good both day and night. It's about a 20 minute walk to the Marina. Paloma park is directly behind and well worth a visit. All in all a superb hotel.

Room Tip: All rooms have a side sea view. One side facing pool other side facing a building. Family rooms have...

We stayed here for 2 weeks had a wonderfull time entertainment not that great but did not matter as we allways go out at night anyway. Very reasonable bars past the windmill roundabout and Mini Golf. Chsters was one of our favourites they do a fantastic fun quiz Roger is so funny the questions are easy you even get free shots and snacks, he even makes the bingo funny. The Nini Golf is good fun to. We did not think Tinys bar was ver good they had a very load coarse lady in who cleared the terrace and the owners seemed to think it was funny. The bars further along are good but closer to the main road. I hope you find this usefull and have as good a holiday as we did - Janet

Room Tip: On the side at the back

A very good 4* hotel. I will start with the only downside, It sits across the beach on a very busy main road. This did not bother us at all but it could be noisy at night. We just shut the door and turned on the air con.
The reception area was very clean and the staff efficient and helpful. The dining room was efficiently run by the head waiter and the buffet style food was excellent. There was a wide choice of food at all meals and there was always something cooked fresh.
The evening entertainment was very good. Ricky Lavazza entertained us on Monday and Thursday, his show is excellent, don't miss it, as was Gordon Williams on Saturday night. Laura Elan was very good also on Friday evening. The other nights weren't up to their standard but nevertheless kept us entertained. There is also a day time activities programme but I'm unable to comment on this as I did not take part in these. The bar staff were friendly and efficient always on hand to serve drinks.
The pool area was clean and there were plenty of sun beds available but there were the customary towels placed on some of them all day long.
We were given a room on the front of the hotel with two bedroom even though there was onlt two of us. If you are not bothered about the road, ask for one of these because it gives you plenty of room to store your clothes. It was cleaned daily to a good standard.
Don't miss happy hour, sit and enjoy a drink on the patio and while away the time.
I cann't understand some of the negative comments about this hotel, we have been to this hotel on a number of occasions and would recommend it.

Room Tip: If you require a quieter room ask for one at the back of the hotel and on the fourth floor or above...
