We went to Las Arenas at the beginning of December 2012 as it had been so good when we were there in the previous February. It hadn't changed at all and was just as good as before. Friendly staff, great food, clean rooms - what more could you ask for?
Decent prices are available for this hotel so see if you can find a deal - you'll really get your money's worth!

Room Tip: Pool side rooms are nice but go on the other side if you want afternoon sun.

What a nice little neat and tidy hotel, the rooms are basic and clean with a small fridge for general use, choose a room in the west side and get the sun on the balcony all afternoon. All room have air conditioning. The staff are very attentive and nothing is a problem for them including the restaurant staff, service was fast with drinks and table cleared quickly, the restaurant even open early when we had an early pick up to return to Malaga airport. WiFi is free and available thought the hotel and bedrooms. I would recommend this hotel for a nice holiday with some nice bars in the area. A must would be a visit to Paloma Park, just turn left out of the hotel first left and a few minuets walk brings you to this fantastic park free entry lots to see with animals roaming free, lots to see.

Just returned from a weeks Xmas break, cannot praise the extremely attentive staff enough. The 5 course gala dinner on Christmas Day was excellent and the wine and cava just kept coming. On Christmas morning carol services were held across the road in Bil Bil castle and was visited by numerous hotel guests.
Room on the 4th floor on the sunny side (not pool),kept spotlessly clean by the very hard working chambermaids.stayed on a half board basis and could always find good quality food to suite our tastes.Would we stay at the Las Arenas again, most definitely.

This was our first visit to the Costa del Sol after many holidays in Benidorm. We were very pleased with our choice of hotel, the Las Arenas. It's ideally situated just across the road from the beach, and with two pedestrian crossings just up the road either side of the hotel, was safe to cross.
We had emailed the hotel a couple of weeks before arrival asking for a high floor, west facing room, and were pleased to find we were on the 6th floor towards the front of the hotel, (room 606). Our room was cleaned every day by a lovely Spanish lady, towels and bed linen replaced regularly.
We like buffet style restaurants, and the Las Arenas was excellent, with a huge choice of hot and cold meals. Having read other reviews regarding the restaurant, we can only say that if you were standing at the entrance waiting for the doors to open, then complaining about the rush to get seated, there really is no need for this. We found that by leaving it for 10 minutes or so, there were plenty of vacant tables, and the initial queues at the servery had all but gone.
We didn't book any of the arranged excursions, preferring instead to use the local bus services which are frequent and very cheap. Just a tip, call at the tobacconists (Tabac) just along from the hotel and buy a green bus card, £1.80 for the deposit, then you load it with any amount of euros needed, (can be topped up as an when needed). Using this you'll save about 1/3rd on every trip. All journeys seemd to be much the same amount, whether just a couple of stops, or all the way to Malaga, (55 mins) or to Fuengirola, (35 mins). With the bus card this was 96 cents single, whereas it was 1 euro 55 cents without the card.
We went on a 'Blanket Trip' to the San Miguel factory, very interesting and all free, including a lovely buffet, drinks and coach.
At this time of year the beaches were very quiet, although the sea was 'warm' enough for a paddle. Can't say the beaches were golden sand, quite the opposite in fact, looked like a ploughed field after the beach cleaner had gone along every morning.
Just up the hill behind the hotel, 10 minutes walk, was the beautiful Paloma park, open all day, and home to many types of animals, cats and chickens all running loose, with goats and emus in pens. Another tip, be aware of security while walking in quiet areas of the park, as one lady in our hotel had her gold chain wrenched from her neck, and another had her handbag grabbed by a young, smart looking man walking past them.
There were also a few beggars in Fuengirola, although they weren't a nuisance as they turned away when told no. All along every sea front, from Torremolnos to Marbella were lots of young black African men with various items laid out on sheets for sale, handbags, sunglasses, CD's etc, but again, if you ignore them they won't attempt to approach you or cause a problem. Just be aware also of pick pockets in crowded markets, although this is common where ever you go nowadays, just be careful.

Room Tip: High room for the views, east facing for morning sun, west facing for afternoon sun. Sunrise in Dece...

I reckon that the best thumbs up an establishment can get is that you would go back again and I would have no hesitation in doing so in the future.
The staff are friendly and efficient, the food was excellent with a wide variety available.
The rooms were clean and comfortable with a lovely view.
There is free entertainment which was of a surprisingly good standard and a 2 for 1 happy hour every day in the lounge bar.
This hotel is also good for people who find it hard to get about, the surrounding area on the front is relatively flat and ramps are plentiful where needed.

We stayed here in September 2012, the hotel in general was very clean, the dining room a bit on the small side, but food was of a good standard, not as much choice as some hotels but plenty. Our room/bathroom was a bit on the small side, but again it was always clean. Small balcony not really for sitting out. Overall we enjoyed this hotel, on the down side the lifts were the smallest we have ever been in, room for one person and a suit case only. The pool area wasn't very inviting, it was big enough, but not somewhere you would want to sit around all day on those lazy days, not good sunbeds, sit on one end and the other comes up to hit the back of you head, you know the type. No pool bar or amenities at all, and no gradual walk in to the pool just side steps, not too good for kids (same 4 foot depth everywhere). The large ground floor bar was very nice to sit for a while and happy hour was good too. Great location for beaches (across busy road but regular crossings) and close to other bars.
