“great hotel”
Reviewed July 7, 2007

Spent one week in this hotel with my husband and two teenage daughters 17yrs, and 19yrs. Had booked apartment only with intention of eating out but we found the food pretty good and ending up upgrading to half board.

A well run hotel particulary suited to families with younger children but we all enjoyed it. Staff were professional and eficient.

Generally well maintained to a reasonable standard but room for improvement, pleasant view if you have pool view side.

The hill leading up to hotel is no problem for able bodied but wheelchair users and buggys would need to take the short cut through hotel basement.

We thoroughtly enjoyed staying here and would recommend it.

Booked holiday through Flyglobespan, we arrived at 11.30am and were given key to our room. We had to leave a 60 euro deposit for breakages, which was returned at the end of our stay. The rooms and balcony are big ,bright and clean, especially the bathroom. There is no charge for the air condition, which was in the bedroom and kitchen/living room. The hotel is right next door to the Vista Mar hotel and we were shown a short cut through both hotels to avoid the steep hill, with our suitcases, as the Flyglobespan bus drops you at the bottom of the hill and picks you up at the same spot. (However some of the other buses did come up the hill ) The hill is quite steep, but after a few days, you get used to it and you can cut out the last part, by using your door keycard to open the hotel garage door and then taking a lift up to the hotel. The staff are very helpful and we had a problem with our shower which the maintenance man attended to immediately. The beach is just down the hill and there is also a supermarket next to Burger king. The hotel pool was quite busy and people were putting towels down on sun loungers at 8am. There was a happy hour every evening from 10.30pm to 11.30pm, we were self catering and did not dine at the hotel, so unable to comment on the food. There is also a small shop in the hotel at the opposite end to the reception area, which was handy for fresh bread in the mornings. We had a very pleasant stay at this hotel and would return again. It also had an indoor pool and gym, making it an ideal place to stay out of season as well.

The Hotel was like new worth its 4 star rating however anyone overlooking the building work didn't have a nice veiw but it wasn't very noisy because the outside work is nearly finished. Stayed in a one bed apartment on the 4th floor which was very clean with a sea and pool view. Could be noisy at night though because it was over the bar. Not much storage space in our room so had to leave a lot of clothes in the case, I would advise anyone to take some hangers for the wardrobe. Towels were not changed enough for me though but i'm sure if we would have asked at reception we would have got some clean ones.

The pool area was lovely with a life guard, there were plenty of sunbeds so you realy didn,t have to put towels out early. The indoor pool was great especially as the weather in the first week was mixed.

Antonio was one of the entertainment men and he was brill my daughter
loved him, he was funny and showed us how to use an air rifle but we were no good at archery.

The entertainment at night was really good with bingo, parrot show, falmenco, magic show and more. Great for the kids. The kids also had a lovely kids club.

I met someone who chose to have meals and they said they were excellent with a good choice, so worth thinking about. We went to a few resturants ourselves, I would recommend the Terrace which provided great food and a good service, Horizon was quite good but you have to wait a long time for your meal people were walking out. Shakespeare was also quite good but the pizza we ordered was only small and had to pay extra for garlic bread and only got two small pieces, the Penny Farthing was not so good, we ordered drinks for the girls and we saw the barmaid pour the drinks out then drank the rest of the can of pop, the toilets were also dirty my daughter would not use them.

I thought the walk to the harbour was a long way but you could take a Taxi which was 7 Euros. The hill upto the Hotel was big but kept us fit, for the shortcut you need to ring the bell to go through the carpark as our key card wouldn't work.

The park was lovely and we walked upto the old town where the cable car was but we didn't go on it because it was 12.50 Euros each, expensive I thought and the day was not a very clear one. Must go to mijas, beautiful you can catch the no 112 or the 121 bus outside the Trition Hotel, had to stand up all the way and it took about 45mins to get there. We went to Torremolinos twice on the 220 bus going and the 110 coming back.

Hope this helps

Wendy

I have just returned from a weeks stay at the Benalmadena Palace. The hotel is clean, staff were friendly & rooms were spacious with addequite self catering facilities. Plenty of fresh clean towels during our stay & sheets were changed regularly. We had a lovely pool view room which i think does make a diiference. The hill is not as bad as you fist think & it is true that you can cut out the steepest park by going through the car park. We didnt find it a problem.
My children (aged 9 & 5) did not join in with the childrens clubs due to them being quite shy but the entertainers seemed to be doing a great job keeping the kids entertained while we were there. Lots to do in & around the hotel to keep the kids happy. (Tivoli world, sealife centre, crocodile park, water park to name but a few) There is also an eveing entertainment programme with something to keep everyone happy. My children particularly enjoyed the parrot show & reptile show.
We did not eat at the hotel & prefered to eat down at the marina. We were told that it was expensive down there but honeslty found the prices to be reasonable. My son is a very fussy eater & we always found a nice restaurant to accommodate his tastes aswell as ours. its true that the marina is a good twenty minutes walk from that hotel but it is a lovely walk along the beach front & is filled with shops, bars & restaurants along the way. If however you do not like to walk the hotel will be more than happy to call a taxi for you. There is a taxi rank down at the marina making it very easy to get a taxi back up to the hotel after a long day & night out. Taxi's cost 7 euros. We had a very relaxing enjoyable holiday at this hotel & i wish i was sitting there by the pool instead of writting this while looking out my window at our misrable british weather!! LOL.

  • Liked — Everything, esspically the pools
  • Disliked — If i had to pick something it would be that i wish it was a little closer to the marina

Just returned back from a week at the Benalmadena Palace. First impressions very good, however even though we were delayed on our flight our room was not ready so we had to wait. When we finally got into the room we were pleasantly surprised on how clean and modern it was. There was even a TV that had BBC1, BBC2, Sky News & Cbeebies... There were plenty of sunbeds around the pool, but that could be due to the time of the year we were there. Around the pool was very dangerous for small children. The amount of people we saw that slipped was ridiculous. Nice to see a permanent lifeguard on duty. The pool was very cold, but the indoor pool is fantastic. Very disappointed that there wasn't any pool activities whatsoever. Can't comment on the food as we never used the restaurant or snack bar. Bar prices quite expensive at €3 for a beer. Happy hour between 5 and 6 when most people have left the pool. We used the supermarket called Plus which is at the bottom of the hill near to the Shell garage. Great prices, but would describe it as a Spanish Netto's. Don't care what anyone says, but the hill is horrendous for people pushing pushchairs etc. The beach is amazing we use alternated between the pool and the beach. €8 for 2 sunbeds and a parasol. We ate out every night, good variety of food, but not cheap. Alround a very nice place to visit and would return.

Stayed in this hotel the last week in May. I would definitely say DO NOT stay at this hotel if you have any problems walking up a steep incline. We were aware of the hill so it was no problem for us but I did see some people struggle with it. There are 2 parts to the hill and you can skip the second part if you go through the car park.

Parking is 8euro a day if you use the car park or you can park on the side of the road but I didnt really ever see a spare parking space.

Now on to the hotel itself. Definitely ask for a pool view as the sea view rooms also are lookinng out on to the road, across from which new apartments are being built so you will hear some construction noise.

Was impressed with the reception staff. They gave us a key card and told us we had a choice of 3 rooms and to check them all out before we decided on which one.

Room was grand. Small kitchenette, table and 4 chairs and a sofa. TV had BBC 1, BB2, UTV2 and CBeebies, Sky News, CNN. We brought our portable DVD player and hooked it up to the telly so could watch movies when we got home from the nights out.

Taxi to the marina cost 6euro. We would get a taxi down and a leisurely 30 minutes stroll home. Supermarket beside Burger King and anotehr one past it on the right.

Bedroom was big enough to fit the cot we asked for. Which may I also say was free of charge. SOme hotels like the Sunset charge 3euro a day for one.

Hotel bar was really nice, didnt eat in the hotel apart from pool food which was extremely mediocre.

Sunbeds were nearly always all reserved by the time we got down in the morning by 10.

Rooms were cleaned every day.

If you have kids, its the perfect place as there is a games room, play room, cinema that shows movies twice a day if the weather is bad.

In all a nice place. Just dont forget 4 star in Europe isnt 4 star in IReland ! would say its more 3 star

we enjoyed our stay here mainly due to the people we met but there is also some good points hotel itself is reasonably clean & tidy maids every 2nd day the pools were really good and it helped having bar close to pool although happy hour could have been better timed it was between 5/6 when we were thinking of heading upstairs so didn't really get use of it.
rooms were good plenty of room & facilities. entertainement at night was okay again helped by the company we were in although my wee boy loved mini disco.out and about great irish bar 300 yds down hill spotless, friendly and cool inside great for quite drink. few livilier bars futher along cocos etc. and alot livilier along at 24hr sqare . tivoli world is worth a visit but not cheap the aquarium along at marina is good also we liked going to the park in the midle of resort . if i was coming back would probably stay nearer other side of resort, closer to main drag
