“Friendly Staff & Nice Hotel”
Reviewed November 4, 2013

Just returned from a week here, overall it was a pleasant stay.

We opted for half board which we are so glad we did as eating out in the local area is VERY expensive.

The food was nice but after a week we felt it was a little repetitive maybe themed nights would go down well? The food itself was of decent quality and they seamed to cater for everyone's pallet, on busy night it does feel a little canteen like but I think that is more the clientele.

The room was nice however the bed was very uncomfortable (619) and the view was limited, if we were to go again i would ask for a pool view room.

The hotel is in a nice quiet spot yes on a hill but you can use your key card to access through the garage, not really an issue. We found a short cut (on the last day) to the local shop DIA by going out past the indoor pool and down the ginnel, the shop has a good variety of produce some good wines and cheap :-).

The Marina at Benalmadena is superb good shops and nice eateries, you can get a nice 30 minute boat trip for c 5e per person, its walkable from the hotel (25 minutes ish).

We took a bus to Marbella which was nice around 4e per person each way well recommend.

Best of all was the weather, we stayed 28th October for a week and never saw a spot of rain and had temperatures touching late 20's every day FAB!

All in all i would recommend this hotel, it offers great value and really dedicated staff that care for the guests.

Dear Nic. Thank a lot for choosing our Hotel and for writing your feedback. We specially apreciate your words regarding the service and the staff. We do not get many complaints about the beds, we will check it in 619. Thank you for recommending our Halfboard option. We hope to welcoming you again in Benalmadena Palace.

Stayed a few times in this hotel whilst the last being in October ,weather was class red hot every day ,was still quite busy around the pool etc etc.Hotel is clean ,reception staff spot on very helpful i really couldnt fault any member of staff. The only downside really is the hill but then again if you know about the hill prior to booking its your own fault .Not a hill for the elderly to try and walk up altho i took my Nana Gaga and Uncle Huff Daddy along and they managed to get up the hill at a struggle ....
Would definately recommend this hotel dont forget to pop round the corner to Cocos the cracks decent in there so is the food etc etc >

Stayed here October 2013 - cant fault a thing about the hotel - staff great, rooms (we had a 2 bed 2 bath) brilliant, facilities were great and the food is fab. The snack bar during the day - everything cooked fresh and is really tasty. The pool area lovely. Hotel full on or departure day so couldn't keep our room for the day but there is a courtesy room with shower for guest use - kept locked so it is really clean. Also luggage room so we spent the whole of the last day at the pool! Would only go back to Benalmadena - wasn't too impressed with the resort as a whole - if I was staying here. Loved the hotel - even got used to the hill!!

OK here goes, we've stayed here before (read my previous posts) but have to say we were a little disappointed this time around. We'd bragged about the hotel to family and friends about the hotel and ended up taking a whole crew with us this time. Yes the hotel has plenty of facilities and has plenty to do but as a self catering option it's not up to scratch. When we've been before the hill hasn't been a problem as we've been half board but being with a large group we went self catering this time around and found it a bit of a pain trekking up it 3-4 times a day. It's a good 10-15 minute walk to the nearest bars restaurants if you don't won't a burger king. We would eat in the apartments or around the hotel but as already pointed out by others this is frowned upon by the hotel staff. I actually found this to be quite annoying as the staff chose to be quite picky (or scared) with groups or people. They didn't bother us but at the same time I saw the life guard argue with a young family because their little boy was eating an orange. Another time they were arguing with a young woman because she had a bottle of water and yet at the same time a group of around 10 scandinavians were having a 3 course lunch from their bags next to her and nothing was said.
The hotel has great facilities, especially for the winter months and if you've got kids but chose wisely. I'd say it's not for couples or singles and having seen it in a new light I'd question going back self catering.
In short, will we go back? Probably. Would we go self catering again? NO.

Room Tip: A pool view is a must as without it you get no sunshine at all :(

Stayed here from 23 -30th Oct.
Check-in was fairly painless, we turned up at noon and were told the room would be ready in an hour, so they gave us a voucher for a free drink in the bar downstairs.
We were allocated room 537 on the 5th floor overlooking the pool, we were happy with the room although the self catering facilities were very basic.
We were lucky enough to have 25c weather throughout our stay with just one cloudy day,so we had plenty of opportunity to use the outdoor pool which was a tad chilly, but you soon got used to it! Always plenty of loungers even though it was half term week. The waitress walking around giving everyone free melon or pineapple was a nice touch.
On our one day we sun my daughter and I enjoyed the indoor pool, gym and sauna - all nice and clean.
On our first night we tried the buffet in the restaurant, it was ok but certainly nothing special, we've had much better at other 3 or 4 star hotels, so we didn't eat there again.
The staff at the hotel are all really nice, very helpful and friendly.
We had read a lot about "The hill" and found it to be a bit overhyped, anyone reasonably fit will find it a breeze - my 9 year old daughter and myself regularly ran up it on our way back to the hotel, although i'm sure it could pose a problem for the less mobile
We only used the short cut through the car park once - we found it a bit dreary walking through an underground car park, so we preferred to use the hill.
The red path short cut at the back of the swimming pool to the supermarket is great though and the hill was nowhere near as steep as "cardiac hill"
Entertainment at the hotel was fairly decent on the whole.
We enjoyed a meal at Bar 76 just past Maccy D's and also enjoyed a Paella at Las Brisas on the Paseo maritime.
We also loved visiting Benalmadena Pueblo one evening, we were lucky enough to catch the last night of the "Tapas trail" were all the bars did a beer + a tapas for 1.50 Euros.
We really enjoyed our stay at the Benalmadena Palace and would love to return.

Just back from a week at the palace - and we were throughly pleased with the hotel - room with view of the sea - a little noise from the road early in the morning - bin collecting I think - but room was spacious for the 2 of us and had everything we needed, the whole hotel is spotless - pool area excellent never struggled to get a bed, like the towel swap idea, 10 euros a towel returnable at the end of the week, we had breakfast a couple of times - plenty of choice for everyone and we did have dinner one night and felt it was very good - wished we had gone AI - all in all we had a brilliant week weather helped 24degs with sun every day, we will return at some point.

Just back from a visit to the hotel with the extended family. We were a party of six adults and two children and had three consecutive one bedroom apartments together with a great pool view that got the sun all day. This was the first time for my husband and I staying at the benalmadena palace although the rest of the family had previously stayed and recommended it. What a treat we had. The rooms were very clean and well maintained throughout. Bedding was changed at least once during our five night stay which in my experience is very good and above my expectations.

The little kitchenette is basically kitted out with a small hob, microwave, fridge and basic utensils. This is perfectly adequate for benalmadena as it is so cheap to eat out. We generally made a simple breakfast and light lunch in the apartment and ate out in the evenings. It isnnecessary to bring your own tea towels and fairy liquid etc. There is a good supermarket beside the back gate to the hotel.

The hotel has great facilities for children and families. The indoor pool is great for all year round use, ample sun beds by the outside pool, a play park, football and volleyball pitch and a super indoor soft play area. We did not use the kids club as my niece and nephew were too young to be left but we did go into it with them to play and to use the soft play area. This was not a problem for the staff although as I observed the supervision in the kids club I am not sure I would leave my children unattended in it. There was only ever one adult in it at any time and at one stage well over 20 children playing in three different zones that could not possibly be supervised by one adult. Parents of young children please be aware of this.

My husband and I used the spa for a massage while we were there. This was well priced and very enjoyable.

We did not eat in the hotel at all although enjoyed a few drinks in the bar and found these reasonably priced.

My husband and I are returning to benalmadena in February and have since booked to return to the palace. The hotel is a little further out from the main marina area and sea front restaurant strip but for us who do not mind the walk it was fine. I would recommend the hotel for families and couples who are fit for walking.

Room Tip: Ask for a pool view. They get the sun all day. The sixth floor will get the sun for the longest.
