just got back from benalmadena palace after our second visit this year and have to say that all the previous reviews have just about got it right. There are many good things about the hotel including the wonderful Sandra and Tad from the entertainment team along with the reception staff. However on this visit we were left a lttle disappointed mailnly due to the fact our room was overlooking "the hill" and every morning between 3.30 am and 4.30am had to listen to the bins being emptied by a large refuge truck and the noise of clinking glass at that time of day is not nice. Also our room had an abundance of ants in it. There also seems to have been a reduction in the quality of some of the produce provided at breakfast, the sausages and hash browns prime examples. The pancakes though were a treat. On our previous visit we made use of the beny bus but due to complaints by taxi drivers this free service has been seriousely curtailed to the point of being useless. On reflection it is the staff that make this hotel what it is and the majority are well mannered and kindhearted but i am sorry to say that its standards have slipped from our last visit in May!

Recently stayed here with 4 other family members and had a most enjoyable time , upon arrival it may not be what you expected , and yes....that hill , oxygen masks are provided when entering the hotel.
The hotel is hillside based and a quite recent build so all mod con's are provided.
The rooms , although slightly small are very well equipped so no major problems here , we stayed on a self catering basis so did not try the hotel restaurant or snack bar , although from what I understand both are very good quality & value.
There is a local supermarket for all your needs , also a Burger King for that usual holiday treat , both are down the hill & turn right , although there is a path by the tennis court / football pitch , you will need your room card to activate the door at the end of the path.
Local restaurants are all within 15 mins walk , again down the hill and turn left , we did try a few during our week but Shakespeare's was without doubt the best choice & value , service here was a little slow but well worth the wait.
The beach runs for a good mile plus with plenty of sun beds plus the usual lucky lucky man offering a bargain.
The marina is 30-40 mins stroll away but well worth a visit , plenty of shops / bars etc here.
The hotel operates happy hour from 5 till 6pm at the snack bar by the pool and then again from 9 till 10pm in the main evening bar , this is the time to stock up on your evening tipple.
Entertainment was the usual , tribute singers , local dance show , parrot show plus everyone's favourite bingo.....performed by the giant TAD , what a legend !.....I think he has escaped from Lilliput ?.
The weather was great , the hotel & staff were great.....we hope to be back soon.
Ignore any negative reviews , this hotel is top notch......enjoy.

This was our first visit here and overall we had a great time. It very much caters towards families, especially those with younger children such as us. Those with older children may be better catered for elsewhere. Being in Benalmadena, the hotel is predominately occupied by British families with some German, French and Russian families also present, We arrived on Saturday night with a Spanish friend of ours whom the hotel allowed to stay free of charge in our room for a couple of days which was a great touch. Although the hotel is located on a hill, the beach is very close to the hotel and walking down the hill gives you access to the sands and beach side bars. There is also a free shuttle bus which takes guests to the beach and back. The advantage of the hotel being set back from the main road on a hill is the resulting view of the mountain and the sea, and the relative quietness of the hotel. We didn't really make use of the outdoor pool as the weather was warm enough for us to venture to the beach. We did use the indoor pool which was a little cold hence everyone crowded into the jacuzzi but there was also a nice steam room and sauna adjacent to the pool. The hotel also has a mini club which has activities ranging from archery to billiards (pool). There is also a mini club activities room where kids can draw, paint etc. and a soft play area. This is staffed by enthusiastic activity leaders . You can leave your child here if they are 4 or over, As our daughter was 3, one of us had to stay with her whilst she was there. Generally, we tended to swim in the mornings, then go out for the whole afternoon and return for the evening activities which started at 8pm. We didn't try any of the food at the hotel. As we were on a self catering package, we bought food from local supermarkets and cooked in our room. The room was clean The room has a basic kitchen with a couple of electric hobs, fridge, microwave, cutlery and dishes. There was a Mercadona (very cheap) supermarket nearby where we stocked up on food. Most of the bars and restaurants are located about a 20-25 minute walk away although there are pockets of tapas bars in nearby streets. The highlight of the day was the evening entertainment. This comprised of a mini disco from 8pm to 9pm for the kids followed by bingo and then the night time activities. We particularly enjoyed the Adele tribute, the magic show and the reptile show. The latter of which we became surprise participants. For my daughter, the high point of the evening was to steal a hug with Beny the tiger who appeared for 5 minutes towards the end of the mini disco. The happy hour between 9-10pm was great value as many drinks were 2 for 1. I'd like to say that the staff were fantastic. Sandra was a natural with the children and we look forward to our next trip.

Some points to note:
Travel to/from the hotel: The bus M128 travels to the airport from the bus stop, Marymar residence (50 mins) across the street from the hotel for only 3.55 euros. This is cheaper and more convenient than getting a taxi to the train station and then a train tot he airport

Hospital: The Xanit International hospital does not accept the European Health Insurance card. There is an excellent public hospital behind the Xanit called the Hospital de Alta Resolución which does.

Just back from our 4th visit in 5 years, always at October half term. We missed not going last year and were really pleased to see the subtle changes they'd made. This is a hotel that is constantly evolving to its customer's needs. The pool area has been completely re-tiled, there are new sun beds which there are always plenty of, they bring water melon round the pool mid afternoon for all the guests, the indoor pool has new water jets, the restaurant redesigned and now they also have a pianist playing during dinner, a lovely touch. This hotel isn't old, only 9 years but they change things to make your stay pleasant and enjoyable.

The food was good as ever with freshly cooked chicken, beef steak, pork chops and fish loins every night as well as salads, rice, pasta, paella and other hot dishes like stew, meatballs to name a few. There were loads of choices for puddings too.

The mini club was a big hit with the children and I must say a thank you to Ana and Laura for being such good fun. The rooms are a good size even for the 4 of us and the bathroom has a bath with shower over plus a separate shower so getting out in the evenings is quicker!

In the evening there is a mini disco for the children 8-9pm, so that's the best time to go to the restaurant if you have no children. Around 9.30pm there is an act every evening which included, reptile show, parrot show, flamenco dancers, magic show and singers, the best of which was the Adele tribute, she was great. There's also the obligatory bingo every night. The price of drinks is slightly more than if you walked onto the front, but they do a happy hour 5-6pm and 9-10pm every day when it's 2 for 1, you just have to "play the game".

All the staff work so extremely hard and are always friendly. I think it's a testament to any work place when you see the same staff year upon year; they must be happy to be there! Oh and the weather was fantastic.

I don't think you can go wrong with this hotel.

Room Tip: Rooms ending 05 or 06 get the afternoon and evening sun, they overlooking the sea and mountains, but...

Stayed here for a few nights last week and found it to be okay. We had a one bedroom apartment which was perfectly clean but pretty small for three adults, would have been a bit of a struggle for longer than a short stay. To be fair we didn't really use any of the extra facilities in the hotel so I can't comment on those. However, note to management - having a handy man using an electric drill in an inside corridor at 11.30 pm is not how you treat paying guests trying to sleep - not everyone is out partying at that time. In addition, the night after staff were loudly closing roof awnings well after midnight right outside our room - three very irked and tired people ! The reception staff were all very helpful so no issues there. The resort itself was pretty dull, just as well the sun was shining really. We tried to sunbathe at the pool - avoid the black sun beds if you can unless you feel like lying on a slab - really uncomfortable. Not a bad stay but I wouldn't return.

i wouldnt class this hotel as 4 star by any means but its clean and comfortable. We arrived before check in time and so was given a voucher to spend at the bar which was thoughtful .. even though just as we set off to the bar the receptionist came and told us we could go to the room !
we only had studio but it was nice and had almost everything ,,,, there was no cork screw !!!
We had a small balcony that was a sun trap and could even see the sea !
There was nightly entertainment .. not everyones cup of tea but it was more than what was happening in the bars nearby.
Pool area was clean and plenty of beds but be aware greedy sad people must get up in the middle of the night to "reserve" them by putting towels across them. Naughty!
I wouldnt be honestly reviewing this hotel if i didnt mention the very steep hill that you have to trawl up to get to it. But if your fit ( or you will be after a week ) its no problem , it wouldnt put me off going again.
The only downside is the noisy lift shaft you can hear in your room til early hours in the morning
: (

Room Tip: try not to have a room near the lift.
