“Nice Hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 5, 2013

We stayed in the Benalmadena Palace in Oct 2012 for a week. We had a two bed apartement which was a good size and had two toilets, which for 6 people was great, especially when getting ready to go out. The aparments where clean and towels were changed 3 times a week.
Downsides to this hotel: we had to wait until 2pm to get into our room, which after an early morning flight with two kids isn't ideal, they just wanted to get changed and get to the pool!
Also the hill to the hotel is pretty steep, not really ideal for elderly or families with young kids - we had a few struggles up the hill.
The kitchen could have been a bit beigger and not so close to the sitting area.
We were self catering and took us a while to find a spermarket, however if you go down passed the pool area and out the back door there is a supermakrket located at bottom of the walk way - we discovered this on our second last day!!
There is a lovely park that you can walk around and there is a little play area for children, there are different types of animals raoming freely which is nice for the kids too.
We also took the children to the sea park across the raod, which was great but can imagine that when the waether is really good this would be pretty hot to walk around!

Took a short break with kids during the half term break and we have really fond memories of the hotel and the area! The hotel is kept very clean and neat. The rooms are a little dated but definitely neat. We had a 1 BR unit on the 3rd floor, the same as the reception. I was a little disappointed with the location as the balcony was directly across from the outdoor seating area. We had paid extra for the pool/sea view room and were offered either a hill-view on high floor or the pool view on Floor 3 on check-in. The only bright side was we didn't have to wait for lifts, every time!

The room was kept very clean on check-in. Someone came in to fix a door in the kitchenette which we hadn't even noticed! The maid service changes towels, makes the bed and empties trash everyday. They clean the floor, tables and kitchenette once every three days. Since we carried a couple of our own pots and MW safe bowls, we just used their cups, plates and spoons. The bed was large and fit our family just fine, so we did not use the sofa-bed. The bathroom shower was fluctuating between hot and cold every now and then and was highly uncomfortable.

We were on SC and hence used the restaurant only once for lunch. As someone had mentioned, they did seem like frozen good and a bit on the expensive side. Since it was just once, we didn't mind. Maxi Dia through the indoor pool is very convenient for stocking up. I also visited the Mercadona, but didn't find too much difference between it and Dia for our short stay. They charge for shopping bags, so make sure you carry one with you. Fresh milk is a rarity. The entertainment every night is quite interesting. My daughter enjoyed the kids disco and she even stayed up for the entertainment. The kids club and the outdoor play area were great fun for them. In short. kids have a lot to do in this hotel!

There aren't much restaurants outside the hotel except a Burger King. You would have to walk towards Av Las palmeras for some options. We tried a chinese restaurant on Las Palmeras which was just ok. The shuttle goes to Paloma park, but frankly, it's walking distance. We waited for almost 30 mins past the "scheduled" time for the shuttle once. To get to pueblo, you would need a taxi or a bus. We did climb the steep hill to the hotel a couple of times.. it was manageable. We rented a car for day trips and managed to find free spots to park overnight. May be a problem during summer as ours was the last spot available on both the days! The entrance through the parking did not work when we tried so we had to walk the steep hill.

The fondest memory I have of this place is the view from my balcony of the pool and the blue sea in the background. It's a great hotel for a break but you would need a car to get around.

Room Tip: If you want sun, choose pool / sea facing. If you want tranquility, choose hill facing rooms!

We had a 5-day break at the Benalmadena Palace at a great price for flights plus hotel through Easyjet. The apartment was clean, the only downside being the fact that there was only a 2-ring hob and a microwave....with 1 saucepan, and no frying pan, which be inadequate for a family if self catering, as we were, rather thanjust the 2 of us. It was a good size, and the hotel facilities were good. As previously stated, walking in any direction necessitated plenty of hills, but these were not insurmountable, and you felt quite fit after 5 days ! The shortcut to the supermarket certainly helped.
The food and rink in nearby bars and restaurants were good value - we liked the Ha'penny Bridge on the main road, and the food in El Copo was great...and cheap as well.
Despite some wet weather, there were plenty of good walks, and the bus to Malaga was good value at only €1.60 each.
Overall we enjoyed the break.

Room Tip: Pool view rooms seem to get more sun, but would probably be noisy in the summer.

We stayed here from the 24th Feb to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. The check in was smooth and as we were early, we were given a coffee and asked if we would mind waiting an hour for the room. This was no problem when asked in such a polite manner. The room was FANTASTIC! Spotless and very modern. We had a lovely sea view and were not charged extra for this, as is the norm these days. The pool was very clean and tidy, although too cold to swim in Feb! If I had to be picky, I would have to say hat the only downside is the hill up from the main road. This is a killer, even if you are home by eight and can use the car park entrance! I gauge an hotel by asking myself whether I would return to it. On this occasion the answer is a resounding YES!

This was our third stay at this hotel at February time of year. Weather was average 21 degrees, our room was floor 5, rear facing to the hills, but side view of the sea. Half board accommodation. Room was excellent with DB, lounge with TV, fridge, heating/aircon, bathroom with shower over bath, balcony. Breakfast and evening meal was excellent, at least 6 choices of hot main meals plus various salads. Staff work very hard but remain very friendly and helpful. There are 2 happy hours per day, BOGOF. Indoor pool and gym, outdoor pool cold in Feb. Entertainment not the best, but quality of everything else makes up for it. Out and about local bus service is excellent to Torremolinos, Fuengirola, and even Malaga at 1.8 euros each. A walk to Benalmadena marina is only half an hour away, with bars and restaurants aplenty.

Room Tip: Rooms on higher floors have best views, especially the pool side.

My wife and I have just returned from a 1 week self catering stay at this hotel (9th-16th Feb). Cannot fault the hotel from what we saw of it. It has 2 restaurants, 2 bars, indoor heated and outdoor pools, cinema, shop, games rooms etc.
Cant comment on the food as we were self catering but it looked appetising.

All the hotel staff and maids were extremely friendly and helpful.
Try and get a room with a sea/pool view, we were room 625 up in the roof with small balcony overlooking the pool.

The room comprised living/dining area with pull out bed settee, bathroom, kitchen with all pots, pans, cups, plates etc to cater for a family of 4 and bedroom, although being in the roof did have a very low sloping roof which be banged our heads on several times (hic !).
You also get the kettle, toaster, microwave, 2 ring hob, fridge with small freezer compartment, iron and ironing board free of charge and the small colour tv has more than 1 uk channel.
The only thing that incurs a charge is the safe (cost us 19 euros for 7 days).

If you decide to go self catering there is a huge supermarket 5 mins walk away that has everything you will ever need and reasonably priced.

There is one big downside to the hotel and that is the very steep hill you have to get up, definitely not for the older tourist or people with walking difficulties, although you can cut through the hotels underground carpark and cut out a third of the hill.
Also the hotel is a bit out of the way (15-20 mins walk to the main bars and 30 min walk to the marina).
Beer and food prices outside the hotel were cheap and you could get a pint from as little as 1 euro 40 and a breakfast from 1 euro 95.

We're not big sunbathers so went out everyday and the hotel is a great base. Main bus route is just at the bottom of "the hill" and the public transport is great.
We went for day trips to Marbella, Torremolinos, Fuengirola and a little village in the hills called Mijas (a must if you like spanish culture, got its own bull ring) all for a couple of quid on the bus.

All said, we had a great time and dont have anything to complain about, go you'll enjoy it

Room Tip: top floor sea/pool view if you can

just returned from our 2nd holiday to this aparthotel. it just keeps getting better.there is everything there you could ask for. 2 outdoor pools and 1 indoor pool with jacuzzi, sauna and gym- all free- table tennis, crazy golf, football, volleyball, archery, games room with machines and pool tables, kids club, entertainment throughout the day and night including kids disco. we were self catering and our room was great, comfy beds!! we had a few meals in the restaurant during our stay and the food was lovely; great range of food to satisfy even the most picky eaters....the waiters were friendly and cheerful and very polite. the entertainment was great - even played bingo. this is a great place to stay - not far away from bars etc, park nearby and a free bus from the aparthotel to the park and the marina - what more could you want. looking forward now to a return trip !!!!!

Room Tip: rooms at the front not overlooking the pool are quieter ours looked right out to sea.
