“Great Hotel especially if you have young children”
Reviewed February 17, 2013

This hotel is the best hotel we have been to (In Spain) for catering for young children..the girl's that work in the kid's club are first class and they open during the day and also again in the evening after the kid's disco to keep the children entertained. The reception manager (Manuel) is also very helpful and accommodating. The location is not the best as it is on top of a steep hill but the hotel do offer a free mini-bus to take you down to the beach and also take you back again. We have paid more money to stay in inferior accommodation and I would definitely recommend this place to friends and family.

The Benlmadena Palace is a good 'resort' style hotel with decent clean facilities and rooms.

It is not 4* compared to UK or US standards, but for a Spanish beach hotel it is of a good standard.

The food is varied and there is something to please everyone. It would be fair to say that the quantity is better than the quality, but the meals were all fine.

The hotel is a stereotypical Spanish beach establishment: clean, simple, not flashy, a bit tacky, but fit for purpose.

The indoor pool was good, the outdoor was not heated and therefore so cold as to be unusable.

Perhaps the one thing that did become wearing after a week was the noise from other guests, especially uncontrolled kids hollering half the night! Our room was close to the kids club, which meant that the balcony couldn't be used without ear protection and you couldnt hear yourself think inside the room until after 10.00pm.

That aside it was a pleasant holiday and I'd happily return.

All round an excellent hotel with good facilities, helpful friendly staff and decent food. We would definitely come back for another holiday as it catered well for children and adults alike. If we were to be really picky the self catering equipment was a bit basic and the beds a bit hard. But this isn't a 5 star hotel it's a good value hotel with high standards. Never came across one rude member of staff as mentioned in other reviews. Mini club staff were excellent and our two boys age 7 and 9 enjoyed dipping in and out of the activities. We ate in the restaurant for 3 nights and were pleased with food and service. Overall didn't find bar or snack bar expensive. Arrived late in the evening and the bar served us pizza as the restaurant was closed, which was very welcomed. You can't go wrong with this hotel it's a good all rounder.

We stayed here for a week in early Feb 2013. The hotel is well presented and the staff are particularly pleasant and helpful. We were half-board, but as the rooms are "apartments" it is nice to have a separate room to relax and watch telly and a fridge, sink and kettle for tea etc. Good beds (sheets and blankets take a bit of getting used to in the age of the duvet). Being low season, the cocktail bar was closed, so anyone who wanted a quiet drink had to go to the unattractive snack bar. Otherwise it was the main bar which became a bit of a lager drinker/Skysports establishment from mid-evening. Drinks prices were reasonable. We were seduced by the rave reviews about the restaurant, but had mixed feelings. Breakfast had an excellent, wide ranging hot and cold buffet. The hot could have been kept a bit warmer - but on the whole quite good. At dinner the cold buffet was superb, but while there was a wide and imaginative choice of hot food, it was let down badly because of not very distinguished cookery skills. I would say I enjoyed only three out of seven hot courses.

Pool/beach towels require a deposit of ten euros each which ties up quite a bit of currency, especially for families. Also a niggle is that it costs two and a half euros per day to use the safe in your room. Having said that, a couple had their bags snatched right outside the hotel, so don't carry too much (apparently quite common in this town).

The hotel is not conveniently located, being over a mile from the town centre (such as it is) and the Marina. Nor did we find any attractions or outstanding restaurants close by. The so called courtesy coach is no great plus and only takes you half way to town or the Marina anyway. The 120 bus goes along the main road below the hotel, but is only every thirty minutes. A taxi costs about seven euros. The entrance to the hotel is at the top of a very, very, very steep hill. There is a rear pathway outside the indoor pool which leads down to a basic supermarket, but beyond there is a wonderful supermarket (equal to the very best of Waitrose) 200 yards up the hill past Burger King and the Shell garage.

Room Tip: In high summer the rooms not overlooking the pool will be cooler.

We stayed from 6th Feb 2013 to 10th Feb , and loved every minute , our rooms 214 & 215 were very clean and well appointed with cooking facility and fridge + Air con +balcony . We opted for basement car parking within the hotel and it was a god send ( a little pricey @ 8 euro / day).

We ate breakfast every day and had two main meals all very very good and spotless. However if you wanted to eat in your room you had all facilities . All bars and snack bars were outstanding along with the pools indoor and outdoor where of the highest standard . All staff were fantastic and nothing was a bother

Room Tip: Most rooms have balconies with some over looking the pool @ 20.00 euro/night upgrade. Our rooms wher...

We visited the hotel and spa in January 2013 to escape the snow and what a pleasant surprise. We booked a last minute holiday and although we have been to Costa Del Sol many times, we have not stayed in this hotel but will definitely go back. The only drawback is the steep hill leading up to the hotel, but half way up we took the short cut through the car park underneath so not so bad. We took our two adult sons with us for a five night break and the weather was good, the hotel was great with plenty of entertainment every night, especially for the children, which included Parrot Show, Reptile Show, Owl and Eagle Show and Flamenco Show, plus bingo and assorted quizes. There was a happy hour from 9.00 until 10.00 and also in the snack bar from 5.00 until 6.00, but only on local drinks. There was a gym, indoor swimming pool with jacuzzi and sauna, children's games room, Beny's children's play centre, adults games room and cinema, mini supermarket plus several outdoor pools. The rooms were good size, and the maids made the beds up every day and changed towels several times a week. All the staff were very friendly and helpful and would recommend this hotel to everyone.

The 'mini mountain' you have to climb to the hotel has always put off staying there but we got it at a great price,so we chanced it.The room was fine, although a little tired looking but given what we paid,it was ok.We where overlooking the pool so we had afternoon sun,but In the evening you will get the noise from people sitting out on the terrace. We thought the staff very friendly & helpful especially Manuel on reception & Monica in the snack bar.The hotel runs a free shuttle bus every half hour to take & pick up parts of Benalmadena. You can even access the hotel from the underground car park, this then cuts out the final ascent.A Dia supermarket is very near, just use the beach road, accessed from the pool area.We used the restaurant a couple of times & liked the fact that the weekly menu was displayed, so you could pick your nights in advance. We did think the club room a bit dismal but we didn't go for the entertainment.Overall we enjoyed the relaxed feel of the hotel & would go again.
