The Hotel Triton in Benalmadena is a large holiday hotel right on the beach close to the marina. It is a 1960's built hotel of very bland architecture both inside and out. It is however well run and very clean.
The bedrooms are simply furnished. The bed linen is changed every other day and the rooms are well cleaned daily. The bathrooms are pleasant and well equiped and the range of toiletries are superb including tooth brush and toothpaste and razor and shaving cream etc.
The restaurant is very large and does lack a certain finesse. However the staff are very efficient at clearing plates between courses and clean table clothes are layed before new diners are seated. The food is run of the mill but with such a large variety there is always a very good choice. Everything is always replaced before items run out.
There are various lounges with no lack of space, however it is very open plan and when the entertainment begins in the evening there is no quiet area which I feel the hotel would benefit from having. The entertainment also is very basic and is really nothing to look forward to.
The pool areas are well kept with plenty of sun beds. There is a bar by the pools with a terrace furnished with tables and chairs whiich is very pleasant. Also on the pool level there is a very well equiped gym which is free. There is a charge for using the spa facilities next to the gym.
The promenade outside the hotel has seen better days and does need to be updated but obviously Spain's economic situation means that it is unlikely to be improved in the near future. The hotel is very close to the marina and that is extremely nice.
Overall would say that the Hotel Triton is not first class but is very good value for money and although many people complain that the hotel staff could smile a little more, they do work very hard to maintain a good standard.

Room Tip: As the rooms run back from the beach, the higher the room number the closer it is to the beach. Room...

I've stayed in Benalmadena 6 times now and I have to say this was by far the nicest place I stayed in. The staff were very friendly. Rooms were big with 2 queen size comfy beds. Pillows are not great though :-( Rooms cleaned each day & clean towels each day. Our room was on the marina side and the views were great. A bit noisy early in the morning with council cleaning streets. Huge selection of foods at breakfast. They even had champagne included in buffet. Nightly entertainment more suited to the older guests. Hotel very suited to older couples. The pool and garden area is really really nice. Very central and close to the marina. I would definitely re-book this hotel. Spectactular views from glass elevators.

Room Tip: Rooms on the marina side don't get much sun in November

So we arrived at this hotel for a weeks worth of our honeymoon. we checked in then went for dinner. The food selection was terrible i lived off a bowl of cucumber that night. we woke up the next morning to discover a note under our door saying that we need to see the restaurant manager about drinks we apparently did not pay for. utter rubbish! so we went for breakfast first and my husband wanted somthing else other than coffee so he asked the waitress who screamed at him im [--] busy cant you see. we and other guests were shocked it was quite nasty. he then asked another waitress and she got another drink for him and charged him at the table rather than on exit because of the theft the night before which wasnt us. any way i gave her the money on her return with the change she slams it on the table and trotts off. Her bosd was watching her and didnt say a word! I was livid they should learn manners. We had a bad time and il never go back. I was the youngest person in the whole hotel min age for everyong else 60. This hotel is 4star? I really wonder how! ive been in some amazing 4star hotels before and this is not even in the top 50 im sure they paid for the 4th star. my advice dont stay here unless you want poor value for money

Enjoyed ourselves so much in April that came back November. This time there were 4 of us. We booked with Lowcost Holidays and every thing was just what we requested. Apart from the weather - but no-one can be blamed for that! Hotel clean, staff friendly, food buffet style but plenty to chose from. Nice little cocktail bar just at the side... can't remember the name! Day trip to Mijas and walks to marina and park. Lovely time had by us all :-)

Just returned from a weeks holiday at the Triton The rooms are big and pleasant.
The buffet is ok, the same as any other buffet. There are plenty of sitting areas which is nice
to chat and read, The staff were all very helpful and pleasant.

The hotel is in a very good position with nice gardens and pools. Unfortunately it rained
most of the week so we couldn't take advantage of the pools or gardens.

I would probablhy go back there again but not in November.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the tennis courts, sunny side.

From the minute our group checked in you can feel the unfriendliest staff I've ever encountered. The night clerk even accused me of making up the fact that there were no tissues in the room when I asked for refills. He had to call another employee to ask them. What is that about? Also, the wait staff was supposed to have "the extended continental breakfast" ready for our group at 6:00 am. Well forget about it being ready. The food kept coming out on carts while we were there waiting for the food. The instant coffee and juice machines weren't turned on. Which is a big deal just unlocking them. Being unready seemed to be the way they worked for other breakfasts also. One time the lights weren't on in the lobby and the staff couldn't figure out how to turn them on. Don't ever ask for extra towels because they'll close the door in your face. As for the location it's right on the beach. The rooms were comfortable and clean. The noise levels were high from the street. Some views are better than other. We were in room #301 which had a side view of the ocean. The dumbest thing this hotel did was to paint the driveway and parking lot in a slick and slippery gray paint. The buses couldn't go on the driveway because it couldn't go back up the slight hill. One of our travelers actually fell due to it being slippery. Look for another hotel is my advice.

Room Tip: We were in room #301 in the main bldg. and it was ok. A little too noisy and only a side view of the...

Just returned from what has become our annual short break at this time of year to Benalmadena. We usually stay at the Riu Nautilus but as that is closed at the moment for refurbishment we chose the Triton, mainly for its location next to the Marina. We go to this area at this time of the year for the late sun to boost us up for the winter at home unfortunately this year we suffered 5 out of 6 days heavy rain, so could not utilise the excellent grounds of this hotel. This was a pity as this is a strong selling point of the hotel as the rest of the Triton is rather dark, dismal and in need of refurbishment itself. However whilst tired looking in places we found it to be spotlessly clean. Our room overlooked a small square leading onto the Marina which was quiet and clean but again whilst perfectly adequate was not up to 4 star standards. Rooms on the other side of the hotel overlooking the excellent grounds and outdoor pool would be better located. One disappointment was the fact the hotel advertised an indoor pool but this only consisted of a spar pool connected to other leisure facilities which had limited opening hours and were chargeable. Unusually for this time of year the hotel was full but mainly of guests of an elderly age (I am 60 but felt quite young) and entertainment was obviously geared towards them, this did not particularly bother us as we like to go out in an evening anyway (albeit wrapped up against the heavy rain)! Luckily we did not have to go far as the adjoining square (Plaza de Ole) has several good bars including our favourite "Buddys"
The food in the dining room was usual for this type of hotel adequate without being anything special supplemented by the excellent hot counter were your meat was cooked whilst you waited (chops, steak, stir fry etc) unfortunately this attracted at times long queues/waits. One plus for the hotel was that whilst drinks were obviously more expensive than the local bars only slightly so and wine at meal times was excellent value. Would we return probably not though we could not fault the value.

Room Tip: Even numbers on high floor away from main road
