We had read the previous reviews, which were mainly favourable, so went with an open mind.
It was our second visit to Benalmadena at this time of year, but we had stayed in another 3 Star hotel very close to the Siroco, so this was our only benchmark.
As part of a group of six, we arrived shortly before midday and were the only group arriving at that time. Unfortunately, only 2 of our 3 rooms were ready, and I have no issue with this as it was before the usual check in time. We were told that it would be ready in thirty minutes and the concierge suggested we leave our luggage in his luggage room, which we did and after a short wander to the 'Prom' returned to our now ready room.
The rooms were reasonably sized and had a good sized wardrobe, are twin bedded and supposed to be suitable for up to 4 persons...........somewhat of a struggle for anybody who is other than 'tiny', but great as to separate singles!
We found all the staff extremely friendly and helpful and were particularly pleased with the room cleaning service who always left the room clean, tidy, fresh towels when needed and never missed our daily service.
All the public areas were kept very clean, and the garden looked fresh and tidy, having recently had its spring tidy up.The pool area which is well sited, large and had plenty of sunbeds provided, was kept clean,
Although clean, the hotel rooms are beginning to look a bit 'tired' and in need of a freshen-up and there were signs of this happening in some parts of the hotel.
In the restaurant, the staff were attentive and quick to clear tables, but it was the disorganised layout in the restaurant and and the inability to keep the food at reasonable temperature that was our biggest disappointment. Nothing appeared to be in logical locations and many guests, including ourselves, could be seen roaming round trying to locate butter to go with bread, milk to go with tea, or appropriate plate or bowl. I can't imagine what this would be like in high season.
The choice of food was reasonable, but never hot enough and although 'warmed' plates were available by the 'chefs grill' area, food was never properly warm and certainly would not pass food presentation temperatures legally expected elsewhere!
Drinks prices in the restaurant and bar were very reasonable.
There was nothing outstanding about our stay, so I consider an 'Average' rating is fair and as I said in my title........we are not desperate to return!

Room Tip: Top floor (4) seaward facing rooms have good view over garden and pool. Dependent on time of year, lower numbered rooms on each level get more sun on balcony. Rooms 35 upwards only get sun early in morning for a few hours during Jan/ Feb.

Just had a week in siroco 28th jan till 4th feb. The weather was great but we had been put in room 445 with no sun whatsoever. The only view we had was a massive tree that towered above the 5th floor. I asked to be moved within minutes but was told they were full. Priority was given to long stays. There were mosqitoe machines provided but the only power point was behind a pillow
Breakfast was ok but the evening meal left a lot to be desired. Ok if you like salads, every thing else was cold unless you went for show cooking which sometimes fish and meat were cooked on the same griddle depending on the queue! Behind our tree we watched bob the builders re furbing the opposite rooms and replacing facades and painting. Ideal location , very clean but not for me.

Room Tip: Dont have a garden view

Returned yesterday from a four night half-board stay with my daughter.
The hotel is in a great location, not far from the marina and close to bus services and many bars and restaurants. Our room was spotless and the beds comfortable. The room was cleaned every day, the beds made and towels replaced. Sadly the only UK chanel was BBC world news
The public areas of the hotel were also clean, plenty of seating and free WiFi. The gardens and the pool areas were also clean.
The staff, in the main, were also friendly and helpful.
So, my reason for giving this hotel such a low rating is the food. It is barely edible. And stone cold. Poor quality meat and fish. Restaurant laid out very poorly. We thought we would be able to survive on salad.. but there was little choice and no decent meat or fish to accompany it. No pasta. Had to pay for water.
At breakfast there was no proper fruit juice and totally unappetising cooked food, apart from the fresh pancakes. We chose to miss out on eating at the hotel...there are plenty of good restaurants locally.
There was also absolutely no information in the room about the hotel and its facilities, what was open when, nearest bus stops, banks, pharmacies, hotel activities, how the aircon worked, gym opening times, or easier access to the hotel avoiding the hill. There is also apparently a gym and spa, but again no info. We were just given a slip of paper at check-in detailing restaurant opening times.
There was a long trek from reception to our room too. Our balcony overlooked a side road where they were digging up the existing road surface and drains...from 8am every morning!! Obviously not the fault of the hotel but why did they allocate us that room...they are not exactly full in January!

Room Tip: We had room 469 which overlooks a side road. The balcony got the sun from 10.30 till about 6pm if you could stand the noise from the pnuematic drills, jcb's, scrapers etc!!Would have given and extra blob for sleep quality if it had not been for the builders!!
