Stayed here first week in April and had a great time. It was quiet but liked it that way, clean and food was really good too, always something you could eat. Its between benalmadena and fuengorola so if you want to go to beach or town you'll need to get a taxi or bus

The hotel is nice, it was clean etc...
On day Time only the pool bar was open, so you have no where to have a drink if you don't fancy to be around the pool.
The evening bar inside the hotel open 18:00, is quite nice, decoration ok, clean enough and outside are some tables and a play ground for the kids. The major downside was the food, very basic, almost casserole dishes, don't expect anything fancy because you will not get it. Drinks for dinner, wine, beer and soft drinks. I would not say the hotel is a family hotel because they do book large groups of golfers and even a futebol time! The evening bar was full of men all night and I felt a bit intimidated to approach the bar, as they were all over the place. The views from the beach club are gorgeous, again all nice and clean, I would go back there but not all inclusive, around are lots and lots of bars and restaurants but not within walking distance. A trip to go and back with a taxi can be 20 euros so RENT a car! We didn't and regretted... downtown is a McDonald's, our daughter loved! No air conditioner, be careful, the air conditioner is just for winter time! No cold air at all and if you go in the summer you need a fan, that they don't provide, I asked the guy at the reception and got told to open the doors of the balcony as on night time the temperature would drop!! It was only April and the nights were not very good, I didn't sleep at all. The good thing is, if you are just looking to have a relaxed holiday, hanging around the pool with a few drinks then this place is ok! Entertainment on evening forget... we had a laugh yes, but just thinking of how bad it was! I think maybe we are used to go to another kind of hotels and holidays, this was just a cheap scape to the sun, so it worth, I think! Is not that bad really :)

Thank you for having spent their holidays with us.
True that there are different types of customers in winter, sports, family tourism and this is different depending on the month of the year.
The pool bar is open from 16/03
Air conditioner this operation depending on the outdoor temperature, usually at the end of April beginning of May is already operating, as the temperatures are higher.
greetings and thanks again

Holiday palace is perfect for a nice chilled out family beak. On arrival we met Ajejandro at reception who couldn't do enough for us through out the week giving the family plenty of advice about the resort and things to do. The food was good with a good selection through out the day, you do have to pay for crisps thought but everything else is all in if you booked an all inclusive package. Entertainment was good with Jonny and Leticia getting everyone involved in activities in the day time, from bingo to table tennis and mini golf. If you are looking for a nice chilled out week with good value for money then this is the place.

9 of us stayed here for 3 days, ages 3 to 43, we had a great time, none of us expected anything to be open as out of season, beautiful hotel, we were put in dinosaur part which was absolutely brilliant especially for 3 year old, we got involved with daytime entertainment and rooms were spacious and clean, can't fault this hotel, we had a great time and in peak season I'm sure will be even better.

Room Tip: Definitely if you have children go for 1st floor dinosaur theme

My girlfriend and I have just got back from a week at the Holiday Palace. We only wanted a cheap and cheerful week away and we got it, and we knew from reading-up on the hotel that some elements of it wouldn't be in full-swing due to staying outside of the peak period. However, a lot of things seemed to run on 'whenever' time, and there were a few points during the day where you couldn't get food and/or drinks as part of the all inclusive due to bars and restaurants being closed. In my previous experiences of all inclusive in a number of different countries, you could get food and drink from somewhere throughout the day, at least until midnight. At times, you couldn't even get a drink of water unless you bought a bottle from the shop (if it was open) - while I generally have no issue with doing this, it should not be a necessity when all inclusive.

The hotel itself is nice enough, it has a water feature in the middle of the main section of the ground floor. It is clean, and well-maintained for the most part. It has a reasonable-sized pool (albeit a freezing one) outside, and a smaller indoor pool in the spa (for which you have to wear a swimming cap). The staff are wonderful. they are very friendly and chatty and we always found them helpful. Regardless of what I, or anyone else may think about the standard of the hotel in general, the staff are a credit to it.

The outside pool area has a lot of loungers and fixed tiki-style parasols, and a nice view of the sea from one side. There's a small pool bar which opens from around 11am (or as close to as they can get organised) until 4pm or so.

Now the negatives...

The hotel is very isolated, up a bit of a hill. Don't stay here if you are someone who likes to go out walking and investigating the local area when on holiday. There's a shuttle bus that picks up outside the hotel and runs down to the security lodge at the bottom (where another local bus can be caught), but this is realistically the only way you can get into Benalmadena itself.

Virtually everything you can lie on or sit on at the hotel feels like it is shaped from solid granite. Our bed was made up of two single beds pushed together, and were so uncomfortable that we relocated to the sofa bed after the 3rd night when both our backs had given up. The sofa bed was only marginally more comfortable, in the same way that sleeping on a tiled floor might be an improvement on a bed of nails. Other people we spoke to said they had much more comfortable beds (although we didn't find this out until the end of the holiday), so it appears we were unlucky on that count, rather than this being the norm.

The food is distinctly average, lacking in variety, and commonly lukewarm, even when the restaurant first opens. It's edible enough, and we managed to get by each day with a reasonable selection, but this consisted of a lot of the same things day-in day-out. They also like to put garlic on everything they can, even on breakfast items.

There was nothing resembling air-conditioning in our room. There was a system installed, but if you attempted to set the temperature below 23 degrees, it turned itself off. I'm in Spain, I have absolutely no need for 23+ degree heat through the vents in my room.

There were a few other small things that were quite specific to our holiday experience, but they were minor inconveniences, rather than deal breakers.

In summary. If you want a reasonably-priced week of sun, and don't have overly high expectations then this isn't the worst place to be. However, if you don't wish to be isolated, and want 24/7 access to a decent selection of food and drink, then I would give this place a miss.
