“Big disappointment ...”
Reviewed August 19, 2013

We visited Palau in Sardina during July 2103 as part of a trip across Sardinia to Corsica. I find Trip Advisor invaluable and use it prior to every trip we make to seek out the majority vote on hotels and restaurants .... It's always great to be able to share positive experiences with other travellers but equally negatives are a must to pre-warn others of places to avoid ....
So, La Gritta - billed as a Michellin guide recommended restaurant in Palau ... despite one or two bad reviews we gave it the benefit of the doubt trying to focus on the positives. We booked a table for 8:30pm on our last night in Palau - saving the best until last, or so we thought. We were seated at the table and virtually ignored, served nothing but a bottle of water. We didn't move to complain in an effort not to ruin the night. We were sat outside so chatted and soaked up the atmosphere. Following a few subtle prompts we received our wine, then canapes around 9:40, starters by 10:10, main meal by 10:30 ... we gave up on dessert. Service was shoddy to say the least and the woman at front of house was positvely rude and ignorant. Needs a lesson in customer service. The food was all well below par and the bill for 2 courses, bottle of water and 1 bottle of wine was 140 euros. Big mistake giving them the benefit of the doubt. If you like good food and professional/friendly service you will not find it here. For a more reason and far superior experience try La Pirata - on the front near the Lido, ask locals as you may find it a little difficulyt to find, fantastic meal - La Gritta could learn a thing or two from this restaurant!

“Great view, on the expensive side”
Reviewed July 28, 2013

We loved the view from La Gritta and were warmly welcomed by the owners.

The food was generally very good - the only disappointment being my starter of octopus, which did not feel evenly heated. The rest - champagne and prawn risotto, lamb cutlets and the chocolate dessert were all fabulous. Service was friendly but could have been more refined - we had to ask for our matching wines that we ordered with dessert to be served. Prices were expense but inline with what we have generally experienced in Sardinia.

Go for the view - worth eating a bit early for so you can enjoy it to its fullest.

“Lovely views and perfect food”
Reviewed July 21, 2013

We visited this restaurant for the third time, the first was 7 years ago and my husband proposed to me. Ask to be seated outside and you won't be disappointed by the views or the food.
