“Beautiful Lake”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 28, 2013 via mobile

Unless you primitive camp, the campsites are way over crowded; however, you won't want to spend much time at your site. The park is beautiful, the lake is amazing, and there is incredible wild life to view. We are already planning our next trip.

“Cant see the Lake”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 25, 2013

The Park is very clean and rustic except they have allowed the foliage to completely take over all of the banks along the lake, except for one small swimming area. If you are camping "on the waterfront" you cant see it because of the tall grass and trees that have taken over. A real shame if you hope to get a nice breeze off of the water and a scenic view.

“Wonderful park.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 18, 2013

We visited the park to hike and fish. The ranger staff was very, very helpful and friendly. We took advantage of their loaner program for fishing tackle, and, my husband, who does not like fish, caught the first fish. We saw beautiful shore birds and thoroughly enjoyed our day.

“A clean, safe, and fun place to camp with family”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 27, 2013

Nice fishing dock (carp, croppie, sunfish, cat fish, blue gill, bass) scenic lake, good pricing on boats (skip the paddle boat unless you want to pedal really hard and go nowhere). Campsites and bathrooms were clean and well maintained. The hiking trails were beautiful and easy to follow. Small but scenic. Ornithologists would probably enjoy this as well.

“Great State Park!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 20, 2013

This is one of my favorite state parks in Texas. I have been here four time now and I have enjoyed each trip here, If you like trails they have them. If you want to came there are many choices such as Rv sites, tent sites, and even many cool cabins you can rent with a private fishing pier for the cabins only. Dont worry there is another peir for others to fish from or you can fish from the dam. Fort Parker state park has a beautiful 700 acre lake that is fed by the Navasota river. This is such a nice river that you can access from inside the park, so bring you boats. I take my canoe but you also can use kayaks because the river is very slow and calm but deep and wide enough to use bass boats. There are some really big fish at this park and in Texas state parks you do not have to have a fishing license to fish in the park. They have canoe and kayak rentals and a play ground and beach for swimming. The park also has a old cemetery hundreds of years old that you can explore. I highly recommend this park to anyone.
