“The nice view does not make up for the bad service and quality”
Reviewed January 8, 2014

We live in Rees and we went there in Summer. They did not greet us as we entered and it took longer than usual to be served although the restaurant was not full. My husband ordered a steak by gram so he went for a 400 gr. one. The steak was so bad he had only 100 gr. of real meat the rest was full of uneatable parts that normally do not exist in a good steak. As we told the waitress she just said she could do nothing about it and that to compensate they will not charge us one 3 euro bier! we did not want it so we paid the full amount and since then we have told all our friends to avoid this terrible restaurant!

“Good Vegetarien meals...and ask for a ´´vegi´ soup as well.”
Reviewed October 27, 2013

I was a bit taken a back that they had a vegetarian main dish on the menu. Not every Restaurant is so considerate. Thumbs up! On offer was a Mix-vegetable Stir-fry, with Rice. I asked for some curry sauce for the vegetables. Yum. Very nice ´Summer Pilz Panne´´ was also on offer ( a Summer Mushroom mix pan´´) ..which also included a visit to there excellent Salat Buffet Bar : )
which is just right for me. They were also very OK with my ´Special´ request; Chips with grated cheese on top...and some Diced Onions .mmmmmmm.

I love the rustic small room the best...Which is where the ´´Medieval Evenings´´ are also staged.
This includes a set menu of 3 big chunks of Meat, hung from the celiing on small swords, home-made Brown bread, A barly dish, lentels, vegetables..(Real! ) Mead Beer, several dips and more..all serven with erthen were plates, jugs ect. You can also book a small Ensombly with old fashioned instruments to really bring you back in time. This Feast is really an experience.
Friday nights in Autumn/winter is ´´Reibe-kucken zeit´´..there are like little pancakes, fried in a pan, served with brown bread, Apel-kompott, And ´´kraut´´..a type of syrip. Really specialist the open ´´Irish+folk music´´ session on the first friday of the month. Please ring in advance, to book a table OR..as it could be put forward because of a bank holiday or big function.
I forgot to mention the big ´Schnitzel Buffet´ on Wednesday nights. Reserving is advisable as this is a really big deal. You can eat as much or as little as you like, and what you like.

“Good food, lovely view but don't take credit cards”
Reviewed September 25, 2013

We were cycling around the area and stopped here for lunch. The meal came with a large salad buffet and we sat outside watching the balance of European trade pass up and down the Rhine. Our experience was slightly marred when, to our surprise, they didn't take credit cards. We managed to find the correct money but very nearly had to stay and do the washing up to pay for the meal! Suggest you make sure you have enough cash on you - we hadn't planned to stop for lunch but got carried away with the cycling. Would go again.
