we arrived without a reservation and found the reception staff very helpful and friendly.
We were offred the choice of two rooms and opted for room 65 which was the larger of the two. The room was spacious with a balcony overlooking the garden although this did tend to get the smell of cooking from the kitchens. The room was clean but getting a bit shabby and in need of refurbishing. However the big let down was the bathroom. Not only did this still have the 1960/70's style of fittings it did have specific faults.
Most of the holes in the shower head were blocked therefore not giving a proper spray but just a centre stream.
The panels on the shower cubicle were loose and it felt like it was falling apart.
The flushing mechanism on the toilet sticks down which makes the toilet constantly flush. This had to be turned off by hand.
The toilet seat cover was cracked.
These are the sort of things you would expect to find in a run down 2 star hotel and not a hotel of this quality.
The restaurant served quite good food but I felt it was a little overpriced but the staff were very friendly and helpful. There is nowhere else to eat within walking distance other than th Pizzeri across the road.
I personally would currently rate the hotel more of a three star but with a bit of refurbishment and attention to detail it could easily return to the four star it claims .
I have marked this hotel that I would not recommend it to a friend simply because I never recommend anything to anyone. People have such varying tastes and standards and what suits me would not necessarily suiy someone else.

We stayed at the hotel for a family reunion. Our room was extremely small for a small child who needed to sleep in a baby cot and two adults. The room was functional the least to say. But what really bothered us was the constant stench coming from the bathroom installations, sometimes accompanied by the greasy odors of the nearby kitchen. As we were afraid of a bunch of mosquitos living obviously right in front of our window, we kept the windows closed when we were in the room- when we were out we kept it wide open which unfortunately did not make much of a difference.
The food that was served in the restaurant was tasty but extremely overpriced. The breakfast buffet was also okay, not much missing but not too ambitious either.
A lunch arrangement for the family reunion was served in the garden, starting with a champagne reception followed by a three course lunch. On this occasion the food was very good and the waiters friendly and attentive.
A great plus is the huge garden in the back of the hotel for playing and resting.
Others of our party of ten reported that their rooms were okay so I presume that there are great quality differences and we obviously got the worst category rooms which were absolutely overpriced for that kind of standard. In my opinion this hotel does not deserve its four star rating when some of the rooms lack four star comfort.

Very small, dull and boring hotel for the elderly.
There is a "swimming pool" too small for more than 4 people. Small rooms, nothing on the floor, TV channels only in german, and all the sport facilities they advertise are in the next town!!!
The restaurant is awful and expensive, try the italian restaurant across the street if you really have to stay there. Finally, the staff is unfriendly and non-english speaking, you have to wait forever to check in and out.
