Mercure Hotel Stuttgart Gerlingen

We stayed here for one night on our way further north into Germany. It was a little outside of Stuttgart itself, which suited us as we were arriving later at night and didn't want to have to drive through city traffic when we arrived.
Whilst the signage is generally good for the hotel from a distance, we found it difficult to actually work out where the entrance to the car park was, when we worked it out, it was boom gated off! After a long drive, we were tired and not ready to find out how much parking was. We parked on the street and walked inside - you can park inside the boom gates for 10 mins without a fee. We decided to pay and park in the undercover carpark which is 1EUR/hour with a maximum 24 hour charge of 12EUR. Considering this hotel is not particularly central we thought 12EUR was a little on the steep side.
We only discovered after paying for parking that if you approach the front desk you receive a 5EUR discount, something the man checking us in, who was not particularly helpful at all to be honest, did not advise us of.
The hotel was acceptable, the room was clean and the bed comfortable. We did not have breakfast here, there is a 'Real' grocery store down the road which we felt was a much better solution than the breakfast at the hotel, from memory it was 15EUR.
Whilst the hotel offers 'free' wi-fi the instructions in the room indicated that there was indeed a fee, perhaps if I had have called the front desk I would have found out, but personally I don't want to be calling about things of this nature, I just want them to work and to not have to pay for them! We survived without internet for one night! ;)
For us, this hotel was an easy stop over point. If we were coming back to Stuttgart we would stay much closer to the centre itself. This hotel however is a good option for a quick overnight stay on the way to somewhere else.

Quite normal average hotel in bit far away from Stuttgart. Service in reception had some flaws due no persons available long time. No rooms have separate beds so if that required, additional bunk needed. Did not have breakfast (expensive, 17€) so cannot judge that.

Hotel's location in Gerlingen is far from ideal for tourists visiting Stuttgart.
At the same time this hotel is NOT any cheaper because of its remote location.

This is a hotel to consider only for those who are visiting nearby area on business, AND at the same time have a loyalty card from Mercure or A-Club or similar. All other travelers should also check several of the nearby hotels which offer a service which is just as good.

During my visit, i noticed that there was a fresh lick of paint everywhere, and hotel is generally well maintained, although it's been a while since it was decorated. You will notice this when you look at the furniture: chairs are clean, bed is fine, but wardrobes have that unmistakable clean but worn look of being there for many years.

My main complaint about this hotel is that its location is only suitable for business visitors, and yet there was not a single free wall socket near the desk so that i can plug in charger of my laptop. Chair was also not suitable for sitting at the desk and working for longer than 15 minutes.

Breakfast was quite expensive.

On a more positive note:
Room was large and clean.
Sheets and everything else were clean.
Bathroom was clean and fine.
Staff was friendly and helpful.
U6 tram has a stop near the hotel (just 50m away), and it takes you to main train station in 20 minutes.

Room Tip: 4 rooms at each end of hotel are slightly bigger than ones along the main corridor. If you like pea...

I stayed in this hotel four three nights and somehow this hotel is really not bad, although it's location is a little bit far off. Unfortunately there was some mistake with our hotel bookings, but the
friendly girl at the reception could help us out very professional and fast. The hotel itself seems to be a little "aged", some new colour or carpets would be needed in the future, the rooms are OK for a few nights on business trips, but not for a private stay.

Typical for Mercure Hotels the breakfast was quite expensive (19€) but due to the location parking was for free.

Very nice Hotel, very friendly and good service. Room very clean and smart. The food was very good and plenty of it with a wide variety to suite all tastes. WiFi is not free which really it should be now, you get free wifi in much cheaper hotels. Also some more English channels on the TV would be nice.

This hotel offers more than a 3* hotel.
Easily to find. Not far from highway.
Rooms are spacious. Breakfast buffet is various, very good quality and fresh. Different type of fruit (alone or in fruit salad).
Parking is totally free! Parking outside and also underground. Very good.
Staff is friendly and helpful.
This year, the restaurant was no more in renovation. We tried and we found it very good. menu is simple but meals are well prepared. Restaurant is not open during the week-end but there is well another restaurant close to the hotel which is also very good (menu is more elaborate and meals are also good).
The hotel is also 15-20' far with car to the centre of Stuttgart and also reachable with the tram
We were there for a competition and pricing was really attractive
I was surprised WIFI was free of charge !!!
To recommend if you are travelling with car.

I stayed in the Mercure in Gerlingen for 4 days and must say I am very disappointed. The room althogh on a non smoking floor had been smoked in previously. No other rooms where available so no changing. The hotel is locted in an industrial estate therefore not much to do when on foot. Paying became painful because they added breakfast which I did not have. I went back only to be questioned whether I was sure if I had no breakfast on any of the days. The card reader would not take my credit card and they actualy made me go and collect cash (with my credit card) to pay my bill. No apologies no explanation no compassion - nothing.
Good thing is, right beside the Mercure is an Italian Restaurant which comes in handy.
