I have just spent the last seven days at this beautiful resort. It is faultless, the service, the food, the scenery is all fantastic, one of the best Club Meds I have been too. The staff are all so friendly and obliging too. The position of it in the alps is so beautiful you feel like you are in a movie.

The 5 trident suites are perfect. They are so spacious and luxurious there is nothing else you could possibly want, definitely worth paying the extra money. Daniella and her team who managed the 5 trident are simply excellent.

Room Tip: The 5 trident rooms are worth the extra money if you want luxury.

This is a fantastic destination for families who want to enjoy time together as well as apart. Kids are definitely well entertained - we only wished that the programme finished a bit earlier than 9pm, as we were exhausted. Many thanks to the GOs at the Mini Club!

Room Tip: Rooms are small - bring only essentials!

It's our 6th Club Med holiday and the best in terms of skiing in and out. The gondolas and ski lifts are skiable from our ski rooms - no step to negotiate unlike in the other resorts. The rooms in the 4 trident space are the good sized, each even comes with a bath tub! The 5 trident space is also well appointed. Food is usual Club Med standard but the ski experience more than makes up for it. Highly recommended.

This was our first visit to a Club Med. Overall the hotel is very good with luxurious dining rooms and amenities (swimming pool, etc.) Food quality and diversity at the buffets is good. Don't expect Michelin One-Star quality though, we're talking about food prepared for 900+ guests three times a day. Compared to other vacation villages with catering included, it sits at the top.

The location (Valmorel) is good but definitely not the most interesting in the French alps. There are good hikes and a couple of decent mountain biking trails. On a clear day you can get a very scenic view of the Mont Blanc. The actual village of Valmorel itself is very small with a dozen shops. And that's about it.

Now here's where I have mixed feelings. A vacation at Club Med is like sitting in the middle of a busy classroom full of toddlers crying, screaming and running around. Parents just let their kids loose and don't seem to care about their whereabouts. The dining areas get very noisy and hectic. Kids help themselves and sometime leave a bit of mess behind. The evenings feature fairly uninteresting shows displaying kids and staff members dancing and singing. Disclaimer: we have two boys (9 and 12) - I do not have a bias against kids in general.

Bottom line: on the plus side, excellent hotel and good food. On the minus side, noisy kids all over the place with careless parents and bland evening shows.

I am still rating this very good because it's definitely well above all its competitors. I am just not sure this is the type of vacation I want.

This is our sixth holiday at a Club Med, the previous being at Club Med Opio (four times) and Club Med Peisey-Vallandry (once). We have only ever stayed at Club Med located in France, which are four Tridents and/or recently opened and even then only during the summer months. We find it too expensive for our skiing budget.

Club Med seem to work their premises hard and, while they are fabulous to begin with, they soon start to show their age, especially in the communal areas. That said, this Club Med is stunning, especially the decor and location. It is very, very, French especially at this time of year, less so in the winter season, when I am told it's full of Brits. I like the French when on holidayout hey even manage to make outdoor pursuits glamourous, lots of hiking, mountain biking, fitness activities, and a hectic program of entertainment in the evening, all staffed by young GOs aged 20-35 years.

My husband is a road cyclist and happy tackling the Col de Madeleine on a daily basis. Mountain biking looked fab.

We always book well in advance with Club Med to get the EBB and self-drive, staying over on the way there and back. Like driving to the Alps. We have no experience of Club Med transport.

There is an excellent program of activities for kids called Mini Club, for babies up to 4, then 5 up to 10, but unless you we there during a British school holidays, you may find it difficult to integrate your children, as they do speak mostly French with the odd exception. When our kids were aged under 10, my strategy was always to ask Mini Club if they had any other English speaking kids on the books that week and then lie in wait for them. Once my girls had found an English friend or two we were in business. Pass World for teenagers is similar.

Now my kids are bit older we issue them with a key to their room and a mobile phone and a few rules about reporting to base regularly and they and they are off, just returning for mealtimes.

We had double Deluxe interconnecting rooms on level 4 which were gorgeous, well worth the extra. Minor problems like a light bulb change and a blocked plug hole were fixed by housekeeping within the hour. The housekeeping staff GEs on Level 4 were charming and could not do enough for us.

The lady Reception, who spoke very good English, was super and sorted out any niggles and queries we had. She also patiently explained to my daughter how she too could be come a GO when she is old enough...

The one single thing Club Med need to do to improve this resort is improve the broadband speed (at the moment is it less than 1mbps) and boost the wi-fi signal around the hotel, so it actually reaches all the rooms. The low speed probably has something to do with fibre optic cable not being available up the mountain, but Club Med could afford to install that for the community of Valmorel. If you have to logon for any reason while in holiday, you will find the service very frustrating. I complained and had the 20 euros taken off our bill immediately.

The pool and spa facilities are gorgeous. My only criticism is that the saloon-style walk through cubicle doors into the mixed changing rooms are ridiculous and with big gaps in the doors and with a couple locks broken they give very little privacy. I think they need to rethink this design and layout of the changing rooms and consider replacing with properly lockable doors.

Dining is a bit hectic depending on when you choose to eat, but it pays to get there early at 7.15 and choose a table well away from the entrances to the dining rooms, but the standard of food is very high self-service buffet style (unless you can be bothered to book the restaurant). It is best to have your food cooked to order on the grill, which involves a degree of queuing. Restaurant open late but it can look a bit overrun by then. The staff work very hard to keep up with it and are unfailingly polite.

All in all, a geat week. Would go again.

Room Tip: Pay the extra and go for a deluxe double with balcony on level 4.

The hotel was very new and well designed. If you like Club Med holidays, it is all given here. The kids, the shows, everything included... But we understood that we'd rather a more relaxed holiday. The group lessons for kids was very crowded. We had to pay for private lessons for the last days for our kids to improve their skiing before we leave. I loved the nespressos i had at the lobby included in the price:) The town Valmorel was not interesting and the ski area also was limited.

We were at Club Med Val Morel within the last week, three families with five children.
I understand why most French speakers give it high marks here, but I do not understand how those who do not speak French manage to get there when most of the staff do not understand a word of English or do not speak or do not want. Some of them, especially the reception really not nice and not help and pouts every request.

Number of activities in relation to other clubs is low. If children do not join the mini club just nothing to do there. The place is very suitable for skiing because of its location but all the activity around the summer is not suitable for children except on nature hikes and park ropes. If you want to do something beyond it like a trip mounted on jeeps etc you have to pay a lot. Therefore often have to travel to cities like Chamonix or Annecy. Rides in the 300 Euros!! With a taxi driver claimed Club Med familiar places and explain on the way. He does not explain, is short on time, he did not understand English and there is no clue where to go if not for the GPS.
Average food at club level and below. So it must feed 800 people and the food is very industrial and not very fresh. The breakfast/dinner room is not very clean. Maybe just the beginning before people enter.
The hotel itself is beautiful, modern decor but the rooms are still relatively small. My water flow was weak but maybe it's just me. buy the way, the pool is FROZEN !!
Registration activities like bike or hike is one day before the trip and for an hour and a half making huge queues have dense. Hotel general masses and very very noisy.
One of the greatest scandals - They asking 20 euros to get a code to activate wifi and it did not work!! About five minutes he logged off and it is connected to a very poor absorption. When it comes to reception to complain that they admit that this is so but still charge money! I wont come there again.
