Great terrace for a lunch in the sun when you have tired legs and a thirsty bunch of friends with you on the slopes. Half the tables were pre-booked for lunch, lots of returning customers. Food was rich and good.

I went there after a long walk on the mountain and wanted to have French fries. However they told us that the kitchen was closed, and then I tried to convince them to open the kitchen. The lady there was so so nice that she made the kitchen opened just for the French fries and she even said welcome to me in my own language (which is Turkish):-) Then in the restaurant the music was great, even a Turkish song I heard:-) As a result, if I am in St. Gervais again, I will definitely go there and have great food and talk to the people! Thanks for the French fries again:-)

A follow on to Revue84. I totally agree with all of the comments. The restaurant had been given weeks of notice on the party size, had issued a restricted menu and said no problem to manage a group of about 30. The food served up was candidly dreadful but compounding this was also dreadful service ,they were totally disorganised and uninterested. We should have had a 2 course meal, 2 drinks and coffee; after 2 hours we had received only one drink and one course ( of mainly poor quality food ) , which appeared randomly to the group over a period of an hour. After 2 hours the group left frustrated without completing the meal.
Clearly this restaurant is unable to manage large groups and the quality of food even for small groups must be questionable.

This beautiful modern Savoyard's style restaurant has impeccable service, wonderful decor and aspect, and a small but thoughtfully chosen selection of wines.

I had the plat du jour - a slow cooked veal with a rich blueberry jam gravy and a wonderful mushroom pasta accompaniment - all I can say is "sensational" - probably the highlight meal of the trip.

The hostess Stephanie was urbane and charming, and the staff were fantastic. They've combined upmarket with friendly, and the handy location (accessible by both car and piste) is superb. Merci Stephanie et equipe!!

We attended Les Communailles with a pre-booked party at the weekend. Our requirements had already been pre-discussed and we had an agreed set menu and sitting time, so we could be fed quickly as people had pre-arranged ski commitments etc. After arriving on time, we were seated in the semi-outside tent-like room, which had been set for us. The view from here is amazing, and personally preferable to being inside at such a stunning location. Unfortunately this is where the positives end. Service was excruciatingly slow - we had been sitting for at least 20 mins before we even had a drink order taken. The main meal was a choice of either lasagne, sausage with polenta, or tarteflette. When our food finally arrived about an hour after seating, the service was so slow that some had finished there meals (those who actually ate it) before some had even arrived. My tarteflette was so rich with cream it was barely edible, and we found an enormous lump of cheese rind with the wax label in our food. My partner had what was described as lasagne, and he actually said it was one of the worst meals he's ever had. He ate barely any of it, and after a morning of walking and skiing it has to be pretty bad! Another party member with dietary requirements had steak and chips, which was supposed to be well done, The steak was practically raw, and the vegetables cold. At this point, most people were rather annoyed, as we had paid for two drinks, dinner and dessert. At our table at least, we didn't even manage to get another drink. After an hour and a half or so, dessert was cancelled and we all left. This was very disappointing for everybody concerned as a lot of effort had gone in to the organisation of this meal, and generally speaking it was certainly not value for money. The staff appeared disinterested, even after having been prompted on more than one occasion. In summary they clearly had taken on too much and could not cope with our party size (approx. 30). Very disappointing and would not recommend for large groups.
