“Brilliant place and so obliging”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 3, 2014 via mobile

5 of us stayed here in a loft type apartment. Roxanne and Julie were absolutely brilliant arranging our stay at the last minute and nothing was any hassle. We went for a long weekend but still managed to ski all day on the Monday thanks to the hotel allowing us to leave our bags and have full use of the pool and shower facilities before we left despite having checked out that morning. Exceptional staff really do make for a great holiday experience. Great food , lovely bar with a roaring fire and a witty and helpful barman, great ski in/out location would love to go back.

What an amazing hotel, in a brilliant location in Les Menuires, which gives easy access to the entire 3 Valleys.

Hotel Location

The hotel isn't listed as ski in/out. Based on previous reviews it seemed that skiing to and from the hotel was possible, but wasn't that easy. If you are a beginner skier then skiing out and back to the hotel will be difficult. If you are a capable skier then it is quite straight forward.Leaving the hotel is very simple, exit the boot room and walk up and behind the rear of the hotel. The path levels out after after around 60-70 feet from the edge of the building, and the skis are on. You ski down the path and past the corner of another building, which then leads you into the preyrand area. The first lift available is a 3-car bubble lift, but this requires either a walk under the pelvoux or another lift up to where the tourtollet lift finishes. The simplest way is to continue down the blue run to the Tourtollet lift. This opens at 9am.

To get back to the hotel, the route comes back via la violette (green run). As this run gets almost into the Croisette area (centre of resort) there is a pathway to the right (marked as green number 1). You ski approx. 150 yards and you have to turn left then right, before the red dragon restaurant, and after a further 200-250 yards, you end up at the bus stop which is opposite the hotel. Cross the road, skis back on and ski past the pool to the back door. Easy!!

Both skiing out and back requires adequate snow fall, so early or late season maybe be an issue.

Food and Bar

The food is amazing, breakfast consists of buffet style, with bacon, eggs, warm croissants/choc au pain, fruit, ham/cheese and cereals etc etc. Enough choice to have something different everyday.

The evening food was a real treat. Have a drink in the cosy bar with open fire before-hand and enjoy the 5 course meal. Soup, starter, main, cheese (although no biscuits) and puddings...wow. Good choice of wines, which aren't that expensive, considering the standard of the food and where you are. Two night a week, they provide a speciality night, which will be only a 2 course or 3 course meal, usually french speciality meals. We came back with small food babies!!

Only thing would be to know in the morning, what the menu was, so you don't have something similar for lunch. Heard some people had complained that the menu was too french. Well, you are in france and therefore any expecting pizza, chicken choi mein or chicken tikka masala are mad. The food was terrific.

Facilities

The pool wasn't too cold, especially after 15-20 mins in the sauna, which I understand was upgraded this year. There is a room with a rowing machine, bike and cross trainer, but didn't see anyone using them. The massage room was kept busy and judging from the results, were obviously worth while, although these are extra. There was a games room behind the bar.

We had a room in the attic, which had views up the valley into the centre. The road noise was very minimal during the night and was never an issue. The standard of the room, the cleanliness and the frequent towel and bed changing was exceptional.

If you want to explore the 3 Valleys, then Les Menuires is a good spot, this hotel is superb and we got from the tourtollet lift over to Meribel and into Courchevel 1650 in under 1hr 30mins. Can't get much better than this.

Room Tip: I would e-mail the hotel and see what is available before booking.

Stayed with my 8 year old daughter and my older brother having seen the reviews on Trip Advisor. We were not disappointed! What a great Hotel, superb food, great staff and great facilities. Located about a 5 minute walk(slightly uphill) from the centre of Menuires which is a lovely small ski village centred around the Ski school meeting area with 3 lifts. Free ski buses run regularly from the front door. Lots of cash points in the centre.
We only had a local lift pass which does not include Val Thorens which seemed a bit tight as it is in the same valley but there were enough blue/red runs to keep us interested. Some of the slopes on the red runs were pretty steep but wide enough for those of us that do not always turn when we need to. The start David Douillet is quite stimulating but Allamands was a great steady slope blast with plenty of room. The reds at the top of Pointe de la Masse were quite steep but once again enough room to get yourself out of trouble. The blue runs all had easier traverses on smaller tracks if you are skiing with a beginner or a child that is ill and has lost her head for heights. A Belgian skier at the Hotel said that skiing was one third technigue, one third fitness and one third in your mind which seemed to fit. Very rare to find a queue for any of the lifts and only 2 button lifts which always had a very quiet piste beside them. Ski school was good for my daughter, 2 hours 45 minutes without a break but she improved each day. Instructors very friendly, good English and only 6 in the group. Not many black runs for those who like that sort of thing. All blue runs were pisted each night
Mountain restaurants were all very good, food at le Neige(top of the first cable car lift) was excellent, great views, good service, good pizza's(mini one for kids was good value at 6 euros), stunning bar b q spare ribs on one Plat de Jour(13 euros). You will always get free water if you ask for a carafe de l'eau at any café. Coffee's, hot chocolate etc 3.5 euros generally. Pomme chaud is very nice especially with a cognac thrown in.
A noticeable number of Eastern European and Russian skiers were in the resort, if you try to help any of the children with their boots/ski's etc they will literally run away to get their parents. Very odd.
Used the Inter ski shop in the centre which was excellent and easy to get to. Bags provided to carry boots etc.
Had a double bed and a single in our room which was little cosy but as you do not spend much time in it didn't matter. Daily cleaning was impressive and radiators were good for drying ski gear. Had a Tv in the room but didn't turn it on. Hotel has a lovely bar area with open fire. Francois the barman was superb as were all the staff we encountered. Owners are very low key and relaxed but ever present if you needed anything. Swimming pool area was immaculate with towels and robes provided. Sauna had a large window with views across the mountains which was different but the only people who went past were hotel residents returning to the ski/boot room.
Ski/boot room has individual lockers and loads of boot heaters which a treat each morning. You can almost ski in/out arriving across the road and leaving via a short walk up a slope before traversing down to a nearby lift providing there is enough snow! Plan B is the ski bus.
Can't say enough about the food but as long as you like French cheese, fish, rabbit etc then you are in for a treat. This is one place that I would love to return to, probably flying with a low cost airline into Geneva then train to Moutiers and a bus/taxi up the hill. Neilson use Thomas Cook planes which means no leg room for anyone over 5'6" on the plane or the bus transfer(3 hours). Grenoble airport is fairly limited and is total chaos on return morning as they can't cope. Our luggage was soaking wet when we arrived which didn't impress me. Nelson rep Simon was very relaxed and not in your face like many reps. Always on the end of the phone if you needed him which suited me. Very knowledgeable about the resort/ski area which is what you want in a rep.

We have just got back from a wonderful ski holiday over New Year and cannot speak more highly of our stay here! Manu and Roxy were amazing hosts and always on hand to welcome you back from a good days skiing or answer any questions. Made such a great impact on our stay. Having stayed in a number of chalets in the 3 valleys we were both pleasantly surprised by the hotel (it felt very much like a cosy chalet). The bar area was furnished with comfy leather sofas arranged around a large fireplace..bliss! The pool and sauna with panoramic views of the mountain were also well enjoyed after a tough day skiing. Excellent facilities. We booked through Neilson and have to mention our rep Simon-such a helpful guy! Nothing was too much for him to help us out with, especially offering advice on good ski runs or plans for New Year.

The other reviews are completely true in that it is not advertised as ski in ski out but it really is. 2 minute walk to get your skis on and short ski down a side-slope to the lift up the mountain. To get back was just as easy. Absolutely ideal.

The room was large and perfectly well equipped for our stay and was cleaned every day; a nice alternative to staying in a chalet. And the bed was so comfortable! A great nights sleep every night. Lovely bathroom with bath and good hot shower.

The highlight of the holiday has to be the food! Incredible 5 course dinner most nights, we had extra courses for NYE and have to say that it was almost too much food! We managed most of the courses most nights but sadly had to skip a couple of cheese courses and pudding on a couple of nights as we were stuffed! The quality of the food was incredible..amazing chefs. The waiting staff were also so friendly and nothing was too much for them. Good wine and drinks selection for dinner and from the bar, Savoie Cruet wine was delicious and came in handy demi-bottle size for when we were a little fragile on New Year's Day. The savior speciality nights involved less courses but were just as delicious (tartiflette and Mont d'or yum yum).

We have both stayed in the 3 valleys a number if times and both agree that this has been one of the best. Excellent service, excellent facilities, excellent location, excellent atmosphere. Wish we were still there! We will be recommending to anyone and everyone. Thanks so much Roxanne, Emmanuel and Simon :)

Room Tip: Haven't seen every room but ours was perfect...facing the road on the first floor but no noise...

My wife and daughter stayed in a family suite, 2 rooms and alcove with bunks. Great rooms and beds, with superb view of the mountains. The meals were really good, breakfast could be a bit crowded if you weren't there early. Dinners were magnificent and what was needed after a long day on the slopes, although by the end of the week we had to pass up on the (delicious) cheeses. The hosts went out of their way to be be helpful and are very friendly, although some of their staff seemed to be new and lacking normal hospitality initiative (nothing too big). Agree with other reviewers that the magnificent pool is way too cold!
Otherwise, would definitely stay again!

Room Tip: Make sure you get a room with a mountain view

Arrived last Saturday, sadly leaving tomorrow. The hotel first... Staff are excellent, friendly and welcoming. Receptionists are very informative, the waiting staff in the restaurant are very efficient and friendly and the barman makes the best mojitos! The food is quite simply excellent... 5 courses a night is quite something and all to a food standard. The standard of the hotel is good, the room we had was clean and quiet, on the third floor. The boot room is sufficient and convenient for the slopes. The hotel doesn't list itself as ski in and out, but this is actually the case... You might have to walk about 20 yards to get going and cross a road to get back, but hardly a problem. The location is ideal for the 3 Valleys area, we skied almost everywhere and it is great quality runs, snow and lunching points! Expect to pay on the mountain, but it shouldn't be a surprise.
Overall, having stayed at several resorts in the alps, this is the only one we'd return to. And soon hopefully.

This hotel greets you at the entrance to Les Menuires. Booked through Neilson, it is very popular and has a lot of returning guests. Very good rep as well in the form of Simon. Very professional and helpful.

Breakfast is good, consisting of cereals, bread, cheese, toast, eggs, bacon and pastries, usual continental fayre. Served between 8 and 9.30 a.m. Evening meal (7-8.30 p.m) consists of 5 courses, soup, starter, main, cheese board, sweet, with two evenings dedicated to Savoyard menu. The food was excellent, very well cooked and presented. Service was also very good, and even when busy it didn’t falter.

There is also a nice bar/lounge area, with open fire, a large screen for those wanting to watch the football..etc. Waffles are also available to order.
Wi-Fi is available throughout the hotel at a fee, we bought a 24hour card for 10 euros.

Attached to the hotel is a small spa, swimming pool/steam room. Very small gym. Towels provided, as well as robes (40 euro refundable deposit for robes). Disposable flip flops are available for 2 euros. You can also order cocktails from the barmen by pressing a button. Massages are also available at extra cost.

Boot room is ok, individual lockers for skis, and heated boot rack.

Our room was spacious, comfortable, and clean. It was a room for 3, with a balcony. Although we weren’t able to sit on the balcony, as the snow was melting on the roof, so it was constantly dripping water onto our balcony, which was a shame,a s we had a nice mountain view. There is a TV in the the room, hairdryer, a few small items of toiletries, plenty of towels, and added bonus, ability to adjust the heating in the room. Most hotel rooms can get very warm. Nice and quiet at night. Bed was extremely comfortable.

The base of the skiing is about 200m away, but you are able to ski down to the nearest piste from the side of the hotel, along a path, snow permitting. Coming back is via a green run Violette, along a little ‘rat run’ past the Red Dragon Chinese (which does a very nice lunch), and this brings you out opposite the hotel. Again ‘snow permitting. Ski bus also stops outside the hotel.

Les Menuires isn’t the prettiest resort, a lot of 1960’s high rise architecture, which does have an ‘ugliness about it, but this hotel certainly did make up for that. It was a good find. Great food, friendly and very professional staff, and very nice hosts.

Room Tip: room 115, very sunny, mountain view and at the end.
