The company managing the hotel Esprit boasts that they " set high standards of cuisine and train their staff.....to ensure that Esprit guests enjoy every meal with us" sadly they failed dismally. Unfortunately the chef does not understand menu choice definitions and the meal portions are small, poorly cooked and presented. Not only are adults meals poor but the children's menu is unappetising and and bland in choice.
The rest of the facilities and front of house staff are second to none it is just so sad that the hotel experience is spoilt by poor menus, presentation and restaurant service.

We went to this hotel last season and had an amazing time, child care, location food etc exceeded all expectations. We therefore booked again for Xmas this year and whilst the child care and facilities were still as good as we remembered; the food and service left a lot to be desired! On a number of occasions we had extremely long waits between courses, the food did not match the description on the morning menus, was badly prepared and cooked and did not match up to five star expectations. Whilst front of house staff were extremely polite when deflecting criticism, they were quite ineffectual when resolving issues and the situation did not get any better as the week progressed.
Having said all this, the skiing was amazing and the child care is all very well organised and that for us is the most important factor when it comes to enjoying our holiday- so yes, will put it down to early season teething troubles and will come back again.

Room Tip: Go for floors 2 and above for really good view

Esprit Ski are aware that there were some teething problems at the Hotel des Deux Domaines during December 2011.
We would like to reassure future guests that our restaurant service has been addressed and we are confident that the high standards which Esprit guests expect are being met.
One questionnaire comment from New Year week states: ".. hotel fabulous, staff were brilliant and food tremendous!"

Location great, rooms average, let down by food and reception staff.

The food was of poor quality and always took a long time to arrive. We gave up eating our evening meals in the hotel despite having paid full board. We once waited an hour for a fried egg and some baked beans at breakfast - when it arrived it was cold.

We made a few enquiries to the reception staff and always had to chase them up when they didn't come back to us. We even asked them to call our mobile with an answer on one occasion - they didn't manage it and when we went to ask what had happened, there had been a change of staff and no one knew anything.

You'll have a great holiday if you are not their first-week guinea pigs.......paying full price!

We have been to the ski esprits flag ship hotel for the last 2 years and had a really great time. The kids have enjoyed it and we went back for Christmas this year with great expectations. Unfortunately I did not see the previous article and all I can say is I agree. The food was poor and the service was appalling. We waited 1 1/2 hrs for our main course one evening meal and people can only say sorry so may times. I think ski esprit have cut corners in the management team this year and although the staff are friendly and will help they are young and lack direction. On the way home this was a common theme from other people who have travelled with esprit and sister company ski total in other location. These were also people who has been with the company before. Ski esprit need to sharpen up their act. I will think again before going with them. The hotel is in a fabulous location and the facilities are good, let down by poor management this year.

This is our fourth visit to this hotel with Esprit and although we are booked again for February ( am in dialogue with Esprit) it will most definitely be our last! Chaos from start to finish. Landed in Chambery in high winds with the whole plane crying and screaming (no exaggeration). The bus was then parked in the biggest puddle in the car park with a driver who was totally unwilling to help. We then had to wait for a least an hour before leaving -am still unsure what for. We then had to change buses and once again all bags were dumped in puddles. Finally arrived a hotel at 7.30pm (should have been 3'ish) opened bags to find clothes soaked through and stained. Food in the hotel was appalling. The chef cannot cook! The children's food was the same and by chance I sat with my son during a couple of meals to find that most of the children struggled to eat anything, and as an alternative were offered a jam sandwich! Which they had to make themselves. A plate arrived with two slices of bread a butter pat and two jams portions (prune and apricot). I would like to say that this was a one off but every meal was poor. As for the adult food - Don't worry too much because by the time you get it you have lost the will to eat! Like wise it was very poor. A huge disappointment to previous visits. I am embarrassed to say that we recommended this hotel to numerous friends and even travelled this time with friends who will also would not return. Child care.... Lacking in experience and common sense. Worrying really, they reported on my sons feedback sheet that he had a lovely afternoon painting etc I would have been over the moon had he been in the club but he was actually out ski ing! Like wise friends went to collect their son and were told that he had been signed out all day and not in club! He had been there all day!
I did speak to the manager early in the week but things did not improve. Tea and coffee availiable all day if you can stomach cold tea and stewed coffee! What has happened to the fantastic place we have stayed at for the last 4 years? Oh and don't ask to buy a glass of wine - there was none available to buy due to no delivery but loads in the restaurant and in the apperatif! I could go on and on it was so bad and yet not cheap. Staff were extremely apologetic and extremely pleasant but I can only assume totally inexperienced and unable to do the job. I would definitely sack the chef! Spoke to manager about Feb holiday and she promised to get back to me - she told me that she had recieved no response from head office however on checking in at airport to return home an Esprit rep approached me with a letter he had been told not to give to me until I was in the airport! I had originally spoken to her on the Wednesday and she had continually told me there had been no response! Am extremely disappointed - good luck to those expecting Christmas spirit and Christmas dinner next week!

Expectations were high when we arrived, based on friends recommendations and previous reviews. The new team here front of house are very sweet, but there is only so many "I'm sorry" conversations one can take. The kitchen is disorganised, unprofessional and producing some terrible food. What's more we've had to wait up to an hour and a half for the food to come out. It's been a food farce in the main restaurant. Our little boy has had a ropey experience with the food as well (the kids eat separately). I understand that this is the first week of a new season, but set your dining expectations low if you are coming over next week for Xmas. Will update later if things improve.

We decided to book with esprite for the summer after having an excellent family ski holiday with them in February.

The childcare is excellent and the staff are great both in winter and in the summer! 3 of the staff that the children knew from our ski trip to Val D'isere were working the summer here which was lovely for the kids. The kids really enjoyed Cocoa Club from 7.30 pm which allowed my husband and I to enjoy our evening meals with the other Mum's and Dad's.

The rooms are plush, clean and spacious. The food at breakfast and evening meal was lovely and the packed lunches were substansial.

There are lots of activities offered at the hotel but we chose to spend our time walking and seeing the sites as a family as well as making good use of the indoor pool. We also had a hot tub on our balcony and so enjoyed relaxing in this after a long walk. There were 3 public hot tubs too... one of which was for adults only.

Many families had been on numerous Esprite holidays... the fact that they continue to use the company both summer and winter is a credit to the staff and speaks for itself. Wr have alreday booked our ski trip with them for this coming winter and are considering one of their other summer venues for next year.
