“Italian emphasis”
Reviewed January 29, 2013

At food of La Roche Chair in a cul-de-sac area of the La Plagne ski area. Just taken over this season by an Italian chef who previously owned a pizzeria in Belle Plagne, this offers Pizza & Pasta as well as more usual local dishes. It is popular & booking recommended. It was poor weather when we were there. There was a DJ gamely trying to play music outside, but it just seemed intrusive. (The music wasn't that good either!)
The service was fairly efficient & friendly. The food was nice but nothing special. Reasonable value for a mountain restaurant. I noticed a loyal following of local ESF instructors, presumably hoping he would re-create the quality from his previous restaurant.
I think the owner needs to decide what kind of restaurant he wants this to become; large turnover, foot-of-slope lunch break or something more special. The position lends itself to the former maybe ...

“Friendly but busy”
Reviewed January 4, 2013

I joined my skiing friends for lunch at this restaurant at the bottom of the La Ruche chair (there is a bus once an hour from Plagne Centre - on the half hour). Arriving at 1pm the restaurant was very busy and even though we had a reservation we had to wait a while for a table (to be fair we were one more than we had booked for which caused a bit of difficulty). The staff were all very friendly and funny but obviously rushed off their feet. The food was good typical fare that you would expect in a ski resort restaurant but well executed and presented - between us we had a pizza (thin crust, nice topping), the plat du jour of vegetarian lasagne with salad, porcini tagliatelle and a caeser salad. All went down well - as did the wine and the complimentary genepy!

“tartiflette... hmmmmm...”

Lovely place to stop for lunch... but book a table... there's not much room! A mountain-side chalet restaurant that's hard to beat - but hard to reach if the lifts are closed!
