“An Englishman Abroad”
Reviewed March 22, 2010

A drink or two or three in this English style Pub is a great way to finish off a days ski-ing. Our party were staying in a Chalet at Plagne 1800 and quite often would finish their days ski-ing in Bellecotte having descended from the Roche-de-mio. A short walk to the pub off the piste and a warm welcome from Tim the owner was guaranteed. Our particular favourite drinks were Desperadoand Peroni and a daily cocktail was always refreshing.A good range of beers also available.. A small area in the bar contained some games for children and a pool table was also available.

Those none skiers like myself could follow the path over the snow covered hill from Plagne village and down the winding path through the woods into Bellecote to meet up with the skiers at the pub. A lovely walk and you could certainly build up a thirst. Food consisted of snacks with a fish and chip (and peas!) at 9 euros particularly good value.

Two flat screen televisions provided live sporting entertainment. A free bus service returning to Plagne Centre was located just 3 minutes walk away.

There is always something different about an English Pub atmosphere abroad that is not reproduced by the local bars and this is what we all liked. Our visiting hours were from 4.00pm to 8.00pm and the atmosphere was always the same. The lively set would probably visit later in the evening but we were on our way back to the chalet by then for dinner.

Highly recommended with some great comaraderie.
