We normally dont visit Thai restuarants in Europe as they never match what we get at home due to their lack of available fresh ingredients. But we saw at a local store called Grandfrais just down the road from them, all the fresh thai ingredients (Le Clerc and Geant dont have them all). There was even fresh tamarind there. So we were expecting great things!
We had the steamed fish and the red curry of duck
We asked for the fish to be done in thai flavours eg lemongrass, coriander, chili ,ginger etc. It came out done in a mushroom bouillon with mushrooms (which you never see in Thai cooking) and fish sauce with a sprig of coriander and a little hint of chilli. Tasted like a frenchified version!
Was delicious and beautifully cooked but nothing like steamed thai fish is usually done. They just dont use enough coriander/ lemongrass/ ginger here. Perhaps it doesnt apppeal to the French palate.
The Thai red curry was fairly bland compared to how we usually have it in Oz but had nice pieces of duck in it.
Staff helpful and it opens earlier at 7pm so good for early birders. Nice decor in keeping with Thai experience.
Worth a visit as quality ingredients/cooking, but dont the expect rich thai flavours as we get in Oz
