We stayed here on a saturday night on a short break to st omer. We arrived in the morning hoping to be able to leave our car in their car park while we explored the town and not expecting any more than that. They very kindly allowed us to check in there and then (several hours ahead of usual check in time). Our family room was very basic and dated but it was clean. The was a TV (we didnt turn it on but assumed it worked), hairdryer but no coffee making facilites unfortunately. The over the bath shower was a mere drizzle - totally inadequate and the area for standing in the bath was not slip-proof. It was a shame they only opened the bar at 6.30pm as it meant no refreshments were available in the hotel all day until then. Breakfast the next morning was pretty hopeless. We went down at 9am and there were no clean tables at all in the 2 large dining rooms. The tables needed to be re-set for new diners so they had crockery and cutlery to enable them to serve themselves from the buffet. Upon calling the staff this was eventually sorted. They could definitely do with someone keeping an eye on the breakfast area to prevent this. However the food was of a very good standard and plentiful - bread, croissants, cereal, cheese, ham, fruit etc. Staff on the whole were friendly and polite and it was reasonable value at around £90 for 2 adults and 1 child with breakfast.

Room Tip: Our room faced the main road although set back from it and we were woken early by noise outside as w...

Hurrah!

I've stayed here a few times over the last 18 months, and whilst the rooms at the front were renovated prior to this, the rooms at the back have seemed tired and dated.

Well it's all changed, I stayed in a room at the back and it was lovely, my only complaint would be that the water pressure was low (20 minutes to fill the bath - but it's a big bath).

The staff were very friendly and are happy to put up with my GCSE level french (although they all speak English).

The restaurant is wonderful, and despite concerns over previous reports the receptionist checked whether I'd had breakfast before adding the charge.

Room Tip: It seems that all rooms are now renovated, but to be certain ask for a front room.

We have been staying at Le Bretagne over a 30-year period and we have never been disappointed. If you are hoping for five-star luxury then forget it. Le Bretagne is a typical French hotel reasonably priced and with modest aspirations. The rooms are on the smallish side but fully equipped (except no tea and coffee making facilties for the cheaper rooms). Breakfast at 10 euros is what you would expect from a hotel of this calibre - selection of cereals, juices, ham, cheese, variety of breads and cakes, hard-boiled eggs etc. It's all help- yourself so you can fill up for the day! Parking is free and within sight of the reception desk. The best part of Le Bretagne is the restaurant - it's not cheap but well worth a visit.

Room Tip: Pay a little more and get a room at the front - they have much more light.

Food in restauant good, and excellent buffet breakfast. Close to main part of town bars etc.
Staff extremely friendly & helpful, would definitely stay again.

This hotel is great for a stopover en route to Calais. We have been using it for over three years for our "christmas booze cruise". We travel over by Eurotunnel then make our way to St Omer. We check in (always ask for the refurbished bedrooms upstairs, they are much better). The town is good for Christmas shopping in the afternoon and theres a fabulous restaurant just up the road called The Cygne if you fancy a treat! We've also eaten in the hotel restaurant and it was very good. The bar is a little depressing, could definitely do with a makeover and some comfy chairs. Staff have always been friendly with us. Dont bother with the breakfast, go into the town and have something decent! Next day off to Cite de Europe and the wine warehouses, then head home. Great fun.

Room Tip: Higher floor rooms refurbished. Annexe rooms on ground floor pretty awful.

This hotel is well placed for an overnight stop on the way back to Calais as St Omer is a pleasant town with a good choice of restaurants. The Bretagne is located within walking distance of the centre and has good free parking. The hotel itself has bgeen renovated within the last 2 years and was clean with comfortable beds. It is simply furnished and the bathrooms have baths with basic showers over them. There was no mirror in the bedroom and the main light was a flourescent tube.
This hotel would not be good value if you were paying its full price and it definitely does not deserve a 3 star rating.
Breakfast was adequate, but at 10 euros overpriced.
The staff were friendly and helpful but a little disorganised. On arrival we were handed the key to a room which was already occupied which did not inspire confidence in their security.

Room Tip: All rooms quiet. If you are paying full rate the first floor rooms may be better.

We use this hotel as a stopping off point as it is only 25 miles from Calais.
It is comfortable and priced reasonably with on site parking. Only five minutes walk from St Omer centre where there are numerous bars and places to eat.
The staff are freindly and helpful especially when I struggle with my French.
We have stayed here on many occasions and found it to be very consistant.
