“Superb dinner - perfect for last night in France”
Reviewed September 29, 2012

We enjoyed a superb dinner here - classic French cuisine served in an elegant dining room. Service is extremely efficient, friendly and competent. Every dish was a delight and the entire dining experience left us sorry to be leaving France to return home to England the following day. Highly recommended.

“Another superb meal”
Reviewed September 15, 2012

Our favourite restaurant in France - caused us to buy a house in St Omer! The food is superb, still not too expensive (100 euros for 2 with wine if you push the boat out). Worth saving up to eat here - cheaper at lunchtime but just as good. Sadly the famous Cheese Chariot is out of commission at the moment, but hopefully will be repaired. Very good wine cellar too.

“beware August”
Reviewed August 3, 2012

Having read the reviews on Trip Advisor and studied the menus available on the restaurant's website, my wife and I decided to travel over to France for a couple of days and have our anniversary meal at this restaurant. On arrival last Wednesday to book, it was a little disappointing to discover that the restaurant was closed until the end of August for annual holidays. Surely this information could have been included on their website along with the Sunday evening and all day Monday closures?

“Elegant refined dinners”
Reviewed June 29, 2012

Le Cygne is St Omer's one serious restaurant - all the rest are for World War I battlefield tour groups round the Grand Place. Le Cygne is in a different league - menus range from €19 for 3 courses and 2 amuses to €55 for a multi-course gastronomique. I dined twice on the €19 menu, full of excellent substantial dishes like Fueillete of smoked duck, poached egg and root vegetables from the marshes around the town, a succulent saignant onglet with rosti and chicory timbale, a wonderful chaudfroid of chicory ice cream and a sabayon of local gin, and a fabulous gin sorbet drenched in gin from 6 miles away. The wine list has many half bottles, including major Alsatians, red Burgundy and red Graves.
Service is charming with smiles all round. Exceptional bread. This restaurant is a real discovery.
