“Small, noisy and pricey”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 23, 2013

We were there last week-end. The rooms / apartments are very clean, well furnished and well decorated.
However they are super small; a T2 hardly fits 4 people and the sofa bed being put into bed and you have no living room anymore but no dining area and no kitchen. FYI the sofa bed is very uncomfortable as a bed.. Bedroom is small. Bathroom as well.
The view is very nice from the balcony but you have the constant small noise from the road just in front of the Collines and the noise from the main road a little bit further; completely quiet when you close the door but you don't feel any remoteness when you are outside.
And all this for EUR150+ per night without any breakfast! What a joke.
We have been in much nicer apartments in Corsica and Tuscany for way cheaper.

Room Tip: Don't go there. But if you do, a room on the fist floor. Otherwise you'll keep seeing cars g...

Our family of 4 stayed here in June 2013.
Our unit was clean and overall fine, but very cramped. When the kids' (sofa) bed was extended, the kitchen/living space was almost completely consumed. Staff strangely distant. The pool was nice and the village, charmingly basque. Location is good for exploring the region.

My wife and two year old daughter have just returned from a very relaxing week at Les Collines Iduki. We had a first floor self catering one bedroom apartment, which although simple, turned out to have everything we needed.

The swimming pool was between 29-31 degs each day, which was great for swimming, although sometime a bit chilly standing around if a breeze got up. We found that the pool was empty for most of the day, with plenty of sun bed availability.

I was very pleased to find I had my own wifi AP in the apartment which meant I had 6MB broadband on tap!

We did not meet any other English guests - all of the other residents appeared to be french families which meant the local village, which we adored, was not catering for the tourist. I'd definitely recommend the Boulangerie although Iduki also sold very nice pastries each morning.

There was a childrens playground within Iduki but the slide was broken during our week which meant we had to walk a couple of hundred yards over the river to the public playground which was much better equipped.

We happened upon this village and restaurant on a snowy Monday in Feb. The decor was lovely, the attention to detail excellent and the food was tasty, well presented and excellent value-we had the daily special for 12.50E-entree, main and dessert including local Basque wine. And the server spoke English which was a help for our guests. We ceretainly did not expect to find this hidden treasureas we turned off the autoroute

Despite how it is listed on Tripadvisor, this is a vacation, self-catering rental, not a hotel. It is on the edge of a charming village, in fact, one of the most charming in France, but if you have a chance, stay in one of the B&Bs in the center of town. The rooms are really small apartments with mediocre furnishings in less than perfect condition...metal chairs were rusted, for example. It had a small kitchen, but the coffee maker had no filters and, as we came in late on Friday night and it is a village of 1,000 people, there was not way to buy coffee or filters.

To add insult to injury, when we checked in, I asked the reception about the need for reservations at the onsite restaurant and I was told we could show up any time, no need for reservations. So the next morning we went down for breakfast and the waiter wouldn't serve us because we hadn't made reservations for breakfast when we checked in. In fairness, he did offer us a cup of black coffee, but nothing else.

The only reason I'm giving this a 2 star rating is because the setting is truly beautiful.

Room Tip: Be prepared for a hike...all units are up a steep hill.

Really loved this place. Found it well reviewed on Tripadvisor and took the chance to explore this beautiful part of France. The apartment was in first class condition with excellent equipment. Everything you needed in the kitchen especially, to self cater although there was a restaurant on site. Not always open though as we discovered on our anniversary evening! We stayed in September so maybe in high season this is not the case. The apartments were within easy walking distance of La Bastide Clairence, up a fairly steep hill to the centre of the village but very pleasant walking. We stayed at the top part of Iduki and were able to walk the rather steep hill to our apartment. If you have any walking difficulties I would suggest you asked for the lower apartments. My only slightly negative point would be that on our arrival we were asked to complete a very long inventory of the equipment in the apartment. This entailed counting every piece of cutlery, kitchen equipment and even toilet roll holder! Not what you really want to do on your holiday but I guess it was for a reason! Apart from that I can highly recommend a stay at Les Collines Iduki.

Good base to explore the Basque region and not too from Biarritz, San Jean de Luz and San Sabastien, all well worth a day trip. As you'll be doing a fair amount of driving it's good to have an on site restaurant and the two cafes in the village. The little houses were very clean and kids will enjoy it with a small playpark on site and another one on the walk into the village.
