We stayed for a week in Cottage La Maison Bleue in Bergheim, one of the loveliest walled villages along the wine route of Alsace. We were extremely happy with our stay.
It is an immaculately clean, nicely-furnished, fully equipped second floor apartment above a garage facing away from the street. The apartment is quiet, it overlooks a yard in which the houses of owner and her family also live, as well as a walking path on the wall that surrounds the village. The owners are very nice and helpful, including communicating with us in English. The village is peaceful and the people are friendly (some sell grapes and plums from their backyard). There are several good restaurants that locals and tourists frequent, a very good boulangerie that we visited daily after discovering it, a butcher shop which offers excellent cold cuts and pates, a couple of convenience stores, Everything is within walking distance; the walk along the old wall takes about 30 minutes and is especially nice. We highly recommend La Maison Bleue in Bergheim when you visit the Alsatien wine route.
