My husband and I rented a small place near The Old Royal Naval Dockyard and were so impressed with this museum. Room after room was filled with fascinating artifacts and history -much of it strongly connected to America's Civil War. The Museum is beautifully maintained. We were so impressed that such a small island had gathered so many artifacts. Bermuda even has the courage to address their participation in the slave trade and eventual emancipation of African Slaves. An expansive mural, painted by a local, illustrates the history of Bermuda and will knock your socks off. If you love museums, this is the place for you. We visited Bermuda in August and this was a nice break from the heat and humidity. (Some rooms are air conditioned but there building is well ventilated and the ocean breezes were lovely.) If we get back to Bermuda, this would be a place we'd revisit.

We enjoyed our visit here, especially the old cannons and other armaments on the lower level, as well as some of the beautiful furnishings and art work on the upper level. Well worth checking out. And don't miss the smaller buildings surrounding the main one, or the great views from around the property. Just don't forget to close the gate or the sheep might get out!

We didn't have enough time at the museum because we were being picked up from there at a designated time, but we really wanted to see the museum for a couple of hours. it was fantastic and we tried to get back during our stay but didn't make it back. Being at the whole dockyard is fantastic, many neat places to see, and this museum is at the top. We hope to go back to Bermuda and when we do, we'll make sure we allot the appropriate time to this great museum. The small bit we saw was just not enough

the Royal Dockyard is overall very touristy - catering to the cruise ships that berth there. the martime museum situated in the old royal navy keep at the extreme end of Dockyard - built from the 1820s - is hoiwever very worthwhile. the exhibits in the commissioners house - old maps, paintings, ships models - are excellent and it is a beautiful old building, wonmderfully restored, with amazing views. one can then walk the ramparts, littered with old guns and gun emplacements. kids will want to spend time at dolphin quest whcih is the 'swim with the dolphins' experience on site in the provisioning dock. an excellent half day.

There is an overwhelming amount of history and information to learn here. We spent half a day and had our fill. Only the most thorough onlookers would spend more than a day. They have a lot of information on forts, all aspects of the military, Bermuda tourism history, currency, ships and more. There are also sheep running around for some random reason (watch where you step). The price was a good value for everything they had there, considering it is Bermuda. We did not even look at Dolphin Quest as it seems cruel.
