“Great Place”

Just came back from a long weekend at CB.

A very beautiful place. Staff was warm with varying levels of efficiency. Food was very good with many options. Grounds are relaxing and it is very spread out. If you are looking for a bit of seclusion at the end of the island- CB is your place. It is low key and laid back- and I think it compares well to the other places on the island. You are paying for location and convenience- not five star excellence...and I think this is the case throughout bermuda.. I would certainly return the next time a long weekend beckons.

We just returned from a four night stay at Cambridge Beaches and we were disappointed.
First, our one bedroom cottage was in need of updating. It was not horrible, but it was not a luxury suite.
There were several things that were disappointing. First, there is constant construction all over the property. The cottage directly behind us was being renovated and all day long we heard construction noises. We assumed we would get a break from the noise on Saturday and Sunday, but no such luck. Construction noise is 7 days a week. Also, the pool is finally finished but there is no peace there either. The area around the pool is under massive construction. They seem to be building new decks, etc. I'm sure it will be beautiful once finished, but for now it's horrible. It's impossible to relax pool side with 15 construction workers mulling around and jack hammers ringing in your ears. I'm serious when I say there were three sledge hammers, drilling, hammering and sawing all going during our last pool visit.
The other draw back of this resort is the beach. There are 5 beaches but only the main one is used for swimming and it is very shallow. Unless you want to swim out into oncoming boats, the deepest area to swim is about 3 feet. There was a beautiful secluded beach near our cottage called Turtle Cove. We did some swimming there until we saw it was infested with jelly fish. Once I put on my goggles and dove down I saw about 30 white jelly fish on the ocean floor. The resort warns visitors about Purple Man-of-war Jelly fish but, thankfully, we never saw any. We only saw the white ones but there are tons of them.
Another problem at Cambridge beaches, is the room service. Our cottage came with a toaster because room service expects guests to make their own toast. First off, when you are paying $1,200 a night for your room and huge prices for room service you can usually expect things like toast. I was curious as to why I could not get room service to supply bread already toasted and I was told if room service delivers bread already toasted there is a risk it will be cold when it arrived. I understand this but I would rather risk cold toast then have my eggs get cold while I'm toasting my own bread. I should add that the toaster was broken and had to be unplugged to get the toast to eject. Also, our room service order was NEVER correct. There was always something missing. Day one, no bakery basket or fruit plate even though it was ordered. Day two, no breakfast potatoes. Day three, again no bakery basket. Day four, ordered 3 eggs but received two and we were shorted a order of bread.
Another issue at this resort is there lack of a concierge. We were told the concierge is on duty from 9-5 but we never actually spoke to him/her. Each time we called, they were busy and we were told they would get back to us. Unfortunately that never happened. We did try to arrange a private boat charter through the front desk but rather than give any assistance, we were given the phone number so we could make our own arrangements. We also had to make all our own dinner reservations, etc. the hotel staff was zero help. Also, the resort does not have a hotel car so guests have to rely on cabs. On arrival, the hotel did arrange for a cab to pick us up at the airport. The only problem, when we arrived, there was no cab as promised. We had to wait in a massive line for 20 minutes before finally securing our own transportation.
We are frequent travelers often staying at the best hotels and resorts. Cambridge Beaches charges the same price as some of the worlds best resorts but does not deliver the same quality or service.

My wife and I just returned from a weeks stay at Cambridge Beaches. It was our first stay there and we definitely plan on returning.

First off, if you are looking for an action packed vacation, this is NOT the place for you. However, if you are looking for an escape from the kids or a great place for a honeymoon, Cambridge Beaches is definitely worth considering. Unlike the Fairmont Princess or the Wyndham, this resort is very secluded. You wouldn't even know it was a hotel if you drove by it. Grounds are beautiful, staff is friendly and helpful, food is very good (highly recommend candlelit dinner on the beach).

We were fortunate enough to stay in one of the newer cottages and it was incredibly spacious with a fantastic view. We participated in the dineaway plan which allowed us to eat dinner at other hotels. We ate at two others - The Reefs and Pompano Beach. Both were beautiful but we were very happy with our choice of Cambridge Beaches. The resort never seemed crowded. Plenty of beach chairs at any time of the day.

Much has been written on this website regarding the pool construction. While the pool is now open for swimming, construction is still taking place around the pool. It looks like it will be spectacular when it is finished.

Only negatives - fitness room only has two treadmills and there were numerous mistakes on the bill upon checkout.

Other than that, this is a spectacular place.

My husband & I celebrated the 4th of July in Bermuda at Cambridge Beaches. Prior reviews had us nervous. Would the resort be in total construction zone disarray? Not to worry - our relaxation was not interrupted. The construction zone near the pool is barely noticeable if you are a beach-go-er. We were pleased to attend the new pool opening party on July 4th, and while they have minor things left to do, the pool is now functioning & will be beautiful when everything is complete. The management was wonderful to us - offering us a credit towards our room as the pool project wasn't complete. But, to be honest, we barely noticed. We really enjoyed the people at Cambridge & the feel of the resort. It's very warm & friendly (one vacationer has been back 87 times!) The resort is spread over a large area, so you never feel like you are in a hotel - more like in your own cottage on the beach. The views are beautiful & the beach is great. Afternoon tea is great - tides you over til dinner if you skip lunch like we did. Try the spa - the massages were inconsisent, but my husband had a terrific one with one of the therapists.

The beach is wonderful, especially if you happen to have kids - not a real surf to worry about. Have dinner at Breezes & watch the sun set. Rent a moped (if you have the courage - my husband did & we had a blast!) Have dinner at Four Ways Inn for a treat. Must not miss Horseshoe beach. It's one of the nicest beaches we've ever visited - but watch out for the cruise-ship masses.
Overall - I've stayed at The Reefs before -and have to say, Cambridge Beaches is the best place to get away from it all. We loved Bermuda.

Cambridge Beaches is known as a lovely, quiet, relaxing resort. However, recently they have changed their policy re children visiting and that has definitely changed the atmosphere. Children, literally running around dinner table , after 8P.M. is not what was expected! Most upscale resorts which welcome kids limit their time in the nicer dining rooms-this should be re-considered by the management. The kids all seemed bored- nothing for them at this resort, so that is probaly why they were running around at dinner time. The beach bar has a drink menu they must have purchased- four pages, but the bartender is unable to make most of them! No straws allowed on the beach- even with a Pina Colada. The grounds are lovely, the puttiing green well-maintained. Rooms very pretty but somewhat in need of updating. "Product " in rooms not high-end- no hair conditioner, no shower gel. Staff very polite and attentive in dining room. Rooms clean and linens, towels well-stocked in rooms. Pool "will be opened next week"- Pretty pricey for what you get. They do appear to have many return guests, but I wonder if that will continue with all the competition from truly upscale Carribean resorts.

While we were disappointed about the pool not being ready we still had a wonderful time in Bermuda. Based on what we could see & the drawing of the pool it will be amazing when it is finished. They are working hard on getting it finished which did result in us hearing contruction during meal times occasionally. With all of that said - we would definitely return to Cambridge Beaches. We loved the style of the resort, the cottages are spread out, not feeling like a large hotel. The grounds & gardens are very pretty & well maintained. The food was amazing! The dining room staff at the Tamarisk restaurant were excellent. The views were beautiful, many things to do there - rent mopeds on sight there to tour around the island; also snorkeling trips, sunset cruises, glassbottom boat rides - all departing from their dock. We had a wonderful time & will definitely return someday, hopefully soon!

A girlfriend and I went to Cambridge for 5 days the first week in May to celebrate a big birthday and we enjoyed the resort. The rooms were good sized (ours overlooked the boat dock....not a totally great view) but it was a bit aways from the pool renovations, which did get noisy. Very large bathroom and it was nice having a tv. The room was well maintained and we never did see housekeeping. We really enjoyed the meals at the main dining room. Service was impeccable, the selections changed every night and there were always plenty of things to choose from. Service at the beach restaurant was a lot more casual and a bit disappointing, but the view of the sunset can't be beat. Our only complaint was really about the concierge who didn't seem to know what he was talking about most of the time. We also had a problem with a cab at the airport (it wasn't there) but there were plenty of cabs and it wasn't a big deal. Overall, I would give very high grades for the staff, food and grounds. The beach is nice; very well maintained but you do have to walk out quite a bit to even swim. We enjoyed the spa (and received a complimentary treatment as part of our Virtuoso package). We did know that the outdoor pool was being renovated so that wasn't a surprise. While Bermuda is a beautiful, clean island, it was VERY expensive and I'm not sure I'll return anytime soon.
