On the positive side, the room is clean and modern. On the negative, this hotel is in the middle of NOWHERE (as in a $30 Euro cab ride from Madrid Atocha train station) in the middle of a desolated industrial park. Unless you are just planning to check in, sleep and leave for the airport I would stay away. Furthermore, we booked this hotel because of the advertised airport shuttle which does not run on weekends, a fact that was not mentioned in any of the literature we received. My advice: stay in Madrid, enjoy yourself and get to the airport from one of the countless places more conveniently located. There's no reason to stay here unless you like staying in an industrial park in the middle of nowhere.

Stayed at the AC Hotel Coslada for two nights. Room is huge! We got a room with a king size bed and a twin size bed. You could have fit two more queen size bed as well. Bathroom very clean with a wide tub/shower and great water pressure. Minibar is free! Breakfast free with many choices. Best of all, the A/C works great!! Something that is rare to find in Spain. Hotel is hard to find but fairly close to the airport. Free Wi Fi in the lobby. Internet in the room for a daily charge. For 60 Euros a night is the best value in Madrid. Due to its location you'll need a car if you are planning to visit Madrid rather than stay overnight for the airport.

Room Tip: Make reservation through Marriott.com.

This hotel is in the middle of nowhere, just an industrial park in the process of being built. Madrid is about 15 minutes away by taxi with no traffic. If you have an overnight layover, and don’t want to be far from the airport, this would be the only reason to stay here.

No airport shuttle on weekends, no Chef on weekends, only cold food available for dinner and breakfast. Two other full service hotels a short distance away offer full amenities every day of the week.

Composite wood floors in the bathroom are a bad idea when you only have half a shower door (same style all over Spain). The floor is always wet which makes this a dangerous combination when exiting the shower. Poor seals around tub result in water leaks on the floor, which will penetrate the composite wood and pool under the floor causing mold and musty odors with passage of time. Ikea technology and quality on a commercial property is a bad idea. This hotel will not hold up well over the years unless they plan on spending a lot of money on maintenance.

The room is nice and big, but dimly lit with efficient compact fluorescent bulbs; the desk lamp is the only salvation if you need to write after dark.

The free coffee from a Nepresso machine any time you want it, and in-room mini-bar is the only highlight.

Room Tip: very new hotel, all rooms should be about the same, area is very quite, except for the airplanes overhead.

After my experience of being denied shuttle on a Sunday morning and having to pay 20 euros for short taxi ride, I had already booked my daughter for a pre paid cheap rate. I warned her of my problem and she called ahead to verify she could be picked up at train station and she was assured she could be picked up. Once she got to train station, she called for pick up and was told the shuttle was not running at 8 pm and she should get a cab. But no cabs were around and the hotel refused to call a cab for her!

Net, it took an extra 45 min to get from train station to hotel.

As much as I like Marriot (I am gold status) there are some bugs to work out - the shuttle should be running 24 x 7

You know from my previous posts that I am a huge Marriott fan (not an employee, simply a multiple timeshare owner and loyal customer). As of November 8th, 2011, AC Hotels became part of the Marriott family allowing Marriott into the Iberian market as they have hotels throughout Spain and 2 in Portugal. We took the plunge and stayed at the AC Hotel that serves Barajas Airport (MAD). We were very happy with our decision. The hotel is very "modern" Spanish in design and the bedding was incredibly comfortable and the room spacious and clean. We found the staff to be most helpful. The hotel offers a shuttle to and from the airport but only on weekdays (I plan on suggesting a 7 day shuttle when I get my survey request from Marriott). You must make a shuttle reservation prior to arriving at the airport. I was able to fax a reservation with my flight information from the US and requested a confirmation by email which I received within 24 hours.

There is a restaurant on site with limited room service as well.

This may be a honeymoon period where they are trying to make everything wonderful. However, I sensed from the staff that they were very excited to be part of the Marriott family and were ready to step up to the plate.

A real plus was the breakfast buffet at 12 Euro each. There were plenty of choices to make the price very reasonable compared to purchasing other options at the airport.

There are limited travel options into Madrid. You can walk about 10 minutes to the Renfe or Bus (on very busy streets). The fare is 1.50 Euro by train to Atocha or Chamartin. If you have kids with you, I would suggest arranging a shuttle back to the airport and taking the Metro, a very safe mode of transport.

Room Tip: I received free internet as a Marriott Gold Member.
