Ranked #2 of 18 Hotels in Alcala De Henares

I stayed in this hotel as part of a group of professionals who were attending a conference in the center of Alcala de Henares. First the positives: the hotel is right across the street from a bus stop that will take you into Madrid within about 25 minutes. The bus leaves every 15 minutes or so and is comfortable and affordable. The hotel is one block from a mercado, but it is a very basic store -- sort of an Aldi, if that is a brand with which you might be familiar. The double room we stayed in was small, but the bathroom was top notch, which is very important to me. Now for the negatives: first, the wifi never worked. Never. The people at the front desk were more than happy to charge me 8 euros a day for a service that they knew really just was not working. I chose this hotel b/c of the wifi availability, so it was really frustrating not to be able to use it. Second, the beds were, by far, the least comfortable I have slept on -- and I had my first ever back pain, which was immediately alleviated when I moved on to Belgium and was able to sleep in a different bed. Also, the linens were a bit tatty, and in general, the hotel was out of the way of nightlife -- it was within walking distance, to be sure, but I would recommend that you stay nearer the town center. Bottom line: This hotel would do for a night, but there are better alternatives in the town center.

This hotel works fine if you have a meeting, conference or a few days in the historic city of Alcalá de Henares. The hotel is only about 15 minutes by car from the Madrid-Barajas airport. The hotel is three years old, at least the superior rooms were very nice with jacuzzi and separate shower cabins. The superior rooms surprisingly lack good amenities (no shampoo or balsam is provided). I also had a nice big balcony. The breakfast is not as good as at some other chains in Spain (e.g. Meliá) but it was decent. The lobby bar lacks ambience but the service is decent. The food in the restaurant was good and the service excellent. Internet connection is free with a cable, oddly they charge for WIFI, as do many other Spanish hotels for some reason. There seems to be an outdoor pool on the roof, but it was closed early November. There is no gym, which is a big minus. The meeting rooms seem fine.

The easiest way to reach the hotel should be by taxi BUT the problem is the location. The address, calle Bulgaria does not seem to exist in the GPS-systems the taxi drivers are using (we were a group of 15 people and everyone's taxi had the same problem). The hotel should provide another address on there homepage and warn people about this. The hotel is located very close to the historic centre and you can walk to see all the main sights, such as Cervantes' house, the old University main building or the Archbishop's palace.

All in all, if you plan to go to Alcalá, I do recommend this hotel, since it was a good value for money.

Minimal hotel in all its glory. Hotel pleasant, clean and staff efficient. Only drawback is distance from city, however, train station 8-10 mins by car. Train ride approx 25 mins

This is a good hotel for a final night in Spain prior taking a flight out of Madrid if you have rented a car. Otherwise, it is a business hotel. For leisure, it would be a fine one night stop-over. The rooms are very modern but functional. The hotel facilities are limited. Service is average to above average.

The hotel is a design hotel that seems to have opened recently (everything is in a good state). The hotel is about 5 minutes walking from the historic city center & about 20 minutes from the railway station of alcala de henares.

The hotel has a rooftop terrace and a small splash pool. During our stay we had the whole rooftop pool and terrace for ourselves during an entire sunday afternoon. In fact there seemed to be hardly any guests at the hotel. This changes drastically during the night as the rooftop terrace (el cielo) seems to be one of the hotspots of alcala nightlife. The terrace was filled by young people having drinks in a very relaxed atmosphere untill 4 in the morning. There wasn´t any loud music so this would not be a disturbance to people sleeping.

The rooms are modern, clean and have a very nice modern bathroom.

One disadvantage is the lack of possibilities to eat on the rooftop terrace (they do have another restaurant with terrace downstairs). They have a roomservice menu but they wouldn´t bring anything else than some drinks upstairs.

Overall I would recommend this hotel for a stay in Alcala as it is close enough to the historic center; is very clean and modern & the rooftop pool and terrace add a nice extra value.
