As I traveled here for a business conference, my perspective may be slightly different than those with families along.
Plusses: * My room had a very nice view of the water, That was the biggest plus to the hotel.
* Room was sufficiently large, and bathroom was more than adequate.
* Staff was polite.
Drawbacks:
* There really isn't anything to do here except enjoy the beach and pool. The town has little going on. This may or may not be an issue for other travellers, depending on their style.
* Greece has many smokers and at the time I stayed here, the hotel allowed smoking in common areas. As a non-smoker with a sensitive nose, this was a big issue. Had to stay away from common areas. Obviously not an issue for smokers or those who do not notice smoke.
* Value. As my company paid for the room, I was not sensitive to price. My guess is that this is a fairly expensive hotel. In view of that, I question the value unless you really just want to relax on the beach in a firaly quiet village - in which case it is ideal.
Let me just make a quick comment on Athens. You should definitely find time to go there and visit the famous sites (Parthenon, Acropolis, Agora), but, candidly, you really do not need more than a day. Unless you want to check out some of the lesser attractions, a full day is plenty of time to cover the key highlights to Athens and enjoy each.

Room Tip: Get a room as close to the water as possible - as they offer better views.

The hotel is of five star quality located in the seaside town of Vouliagmeni. It is far enough away from the chaos in the city for a great escape. There is a private beach and two pools with one being a salt water pool.
Just minutes away are some great fish tavernas. Our favorite is Zafieris where you sit outside and watch the glorious sunset over a a glass of ouzo and meze.

Room Tip: Call and speak to the booking staff directly.

Nice hotel, beautiful location and swinning pool + private beach, good restaurants on walking distance. Rather small rooms, poor breakfast. Main building is quite outdated, needs restyling. Outrageous prices for drinks and food in the hotel's restaurants.

We stayed in this hotel for congress with other participants. Than we stayed for couple more days with family (little twin boys and nanny). We were not so impressed by the hotel at fist moment but later we quite appreciated it. We liked the beautiful spa and pool area. The beach area and beach was OK. The restaurants were OK but nothnig really special. The staff was OK. We also liked little restaurants on the beach close to the hotel. We liked sea view from the room, it was beautiful. If you want to get into the historical centre, you need to spent approximately 30-60 minutes one way in taxi to get there.

During our stay, there was some Greek - Arab congress and the hotel was literally overcrowded and uncomfortable. This hotel is not bad but better for "soft" business (after meeting you can go to beach or spa) than leisure with family. Except for beautiful and impressive spa, we found nothing really special or unique with respect to this hotel.

We spent the last three days of our 14 day honeymoon at the Divani Apollon Place and Spa at the end of our cruise which took us from Rome to Athens. We arrived here after having stayed the night before at the Hotel Grande Bretagne in the heart of Athens. While the Divani Apollon Place and Spa has it's perks, we felt like we left a true five star hotel in the city and downgraded to a 3 star hotel at best.

The good:
Location. The Divani Apollon Palace & Spa is located across from the beach. There's a walkway that goes under the road that you can use your room key to access the private beach. The Divani Apollon is perfect if you just looking to relax on the beach / pool or indulge at the spa, but if you're looking shop or do some sight seeing expect to spend some $$ on taxis to get around. While the location is beautiful - it's a bit out of the way. We spent $50US on a 25 minute taxi ride to get here from Athen's Parliament Square.

The Service. The front desk personnel were extremely helpful and accommodating even though our Greek was seriously lacking. We found the service at the Divani Apollon to be pretty incredible all around. The staff had a great sense of humor and sense of service. When we arrived at our room we had a lovely bottle of champagne and Greek treats waiting for us which we thoroughly enjoyed!

The Pools. While we didn't swim in the outdoor pools as it was early May and the water was still a bit cool, we did enjoy relaxing and loafing around the pool. We couldn't have asked for better weather and really enjoyed just chilling in what my husband dubbed the 'Flintstone-mobile' pool deck bed together. While we were relaxing by the pool the staff was very quick to provide towels and check in on us from time to time (but not too much) to see if we needed any thing, it was sorta like being at a country club. The grounds surrounding the hotel were beautifully landscaped and had we not known any better, we would have thought we were at some resort in southern California!

The View. Some of the most beautiful sunsets we saw on our honeymoon were experienced on the balcony of our room. The scenery is beautiful and seeing the sun set over the Mediterranean and islands was just gorgeous.

The gym and spa. Both were AMAZING (and were included in our honeymoon package). While my husband worked out in the gym, I indulged in spa treatments, one of which was the snow breeze-body detoxification which was incredibly relaxing. Later I was able to get my husband to join me in the saltwater pool at the Thalasso Centre where we discovered the wonderful submarine jet massages! It was the perfect end to our honeymoon adventure where we spent two weeks hiking ancient ruins.

Food and Room Service. The breakfast buffet was one of the best spreads we experienced on our trip (it too was included in our honeymoon package). My husband loved that he was able to get his morning ice coffee. We also ordered room service a few times, and while the food was lovely, it was a bit on the expensive side.

The bad:
The room. The Executive room has a layout and design very reminiscent of the rooms at Motel 6 in the states. The best thing we could say about the room was the view from the balcony - which is what we believe we were paying for when it came to the cost.

The bed. The 'matrimonial bed' mattress was very flimsy, lite, and weak. Some folks may like ultra ultra soft beds like that, but it gave me a sore back after one night (thank goodness for the spa!). The linens were ok, but not what I would call 'luxury'. When we checked in our bed only had 2 pillows. When we called and requested an additional 2 pillows they were promptly delivered by house keeping.

The bathroom. The toilet seat was broken/loose when we arrived, sorta slid off to one side when you sat down on it. We called maintenance and they were very diligent to come and repair/tighten the seat - but it still slid off slightly to one side after it was repaired.

The shower was all together a complete fail. The tub is incredibly narrow. Being an average US size 12 at 5'7 tall, one cannot stand width-wise and shower as the tub is too tapered/narrow to stand with your feet together, you have to turn sideways to shower and even then my size-9 feet went up either side of the tub. Now try and picture what my husband (who's broad shouldered and the size of a linebacker at 6' tall) went through when he tried to shower. Not good.

As an added bonus feature to the tub design, they don't have a shower curtain, only a glass partition which only covers 1/2 the length of the tub and has a narrow gap between the tub and base of the glass which allows water to spray out which pools and collects on the marble floor. Throwing towels down doesn't really help you from slipping and falling. While marble bathroom floors are pretty, they are dangerous when wet - this is not a place I would bring an older person who has balance issues for fear of them slipping and falling. There's nothing to catch yourself on other than the marble vanity.

All in all we had a lovely experience for having never visited Greece before. By the time we arrived at the Divani Apollon we were at the tail end of our honeymoon. We had spent 11 days straight hiking, traveling, and sight-seeing, and were ready to just sit still and relax for a few days by the time we arrived, which Divani Apollon was perfect for doing along the beautiful coast of Greece far away from the city center.

Room Tip: Stay in Suites not Superior or Executive rooms.

I stayed at the Divani with colleagues for a conference in mid-May. The pros: service was exceptional by all the waitstaff. The view from the beach is incredible and the nearby restaurants have wonderful sunset views as well.

The cons: the hotel is located in the middle of a residential neighborhood. The first night of the conference, all of those people staying on the non-ocean facing side of the hotel were kept awake until 2:45 in the morning due to a raging (seriously, concert-quality sound system) house party that took place on a Sunday four doors down from the hotel. After calling the desk repeatedly, finally at 2:45 the police arrived. Hey, it's Greece, right?

Another day, an entire block of rooms did not have power in their rooms.

And finally, during our conference, we had quite a problem with the ventilation and cooling on the lower floor rooms. That, plus the fact that I had a room over the entrance to the hotel meant that at any time, my room was filled with smoke and the sounds of the bell staff arguing with cab drivers outside.

All that said, the location is great. If you get a room on the ocean side, you'd probably avoid most of these issues.

Room Tip: Ocean facing only, high floor.

We booked our stay in Divani Apollon Suites, which is Apollon spa´s "annex" next to the hotel. Anyway, at arriving we were told that Suites are closed and we were "upgraded" to Apollon Spa... It is bit weird they sell rooms to the part of the hotel that is closed.

Hotel itself is very good, elegant style but rooms need soon some renovation Somewhere between 4 and 5 stars. Rooms have balconies and most of them seems to have seaview. Pool area is very nice and private little beach is also ok. Staff is very helpful and polite and breakfast pretty ok too.

BIG PLUS is complimentary shuttle bus to and from Athens/Glyfada (3-4 times a day).

Then few negative things that are good to know:
1. No free wlan ( I am not sure if there is wlan in rooms at all). Internet is very expensive, 5e per hour and so on. Nowadays 2 stars have free internet, why not Divani?
2. SPA and gym cost you 40 per entry, even you are hotel guest. They say they have free pool and gym for hotel guests but that is a joke - that pool looks something you dont want to jump in! And gym stuff is great if it is meant to be retro.
3. Prices: beer from minibar cost 9e, beer at pool 7e, coca cola 6e...

Overall not bad choice in that area. Prices seems to be cheaper when booked directly from hotel's site. Sleep quality was bit disturbed by pool renovation that started in early morning.
