What wonderful work these people do in the only turtle sanctuary in Geece. Only open at the weekends when we went. Well worth a visit even though it can depress due to man's cruelty to animals. Mostly, one would hope these incredible creatures have been injured unintentionally by boats and fishing, but whether you care it is worth a visit for a chance to see these magnificent animals close up. The place is unfunded so donations are appreciated, but when you've been I think you'll be happy to throw them a few euros.

I want to come back to volunteer. The folks were great. They gave us a tour even though it was a day they were closed. It was our last day in Greece. Please visit and contribute to this worthy center.

Just got back from a wonderful visit to the Glifada Sea Turtle rescue centre. See the turtles they are caring for close up and hear their stories. Just a tram ride from the centre of Athens ( about 40 mins to Palaio Dimarchi)o. Nice tram ride along the coast with good views. The centre is open at the weekends from 11 to about 15.00 or later. Buy tshirts, colouring books, pendants, board games etc to support their work. Take cash as they do not have credit card facilities. Find out about becoming a volunteer too.

The people in the centre do a great job.they help the turtles, educate the people and promote the benefits of voluntary work.i believe that all school teachers must be informed about what the centre does and arrange more frequent visits with their schools so that kids get more educated and the centre will receive more financial benefits from such actions.we need the existance of this centre! let's all contribute to keeping it!
