“Nice common area & pool, upstairs dirty carpets & walls, some rude staff”
Reviewed August 7, 2013

We stayed here because it was recommended by a local, and needed a place to stay as our plans changed last minute. The reception staff was very professional & cleaning staff was very polite. The staff at the pool we found rude--the young woman towel attendant was taking towels back at precisely 6:30 when people were still in the pool. Her attitude was that the rules were that the towels get collected at that time no matter what,(even though people would still need them). When we checked in we were told by reception that the pool was open until 7:30 "or so." Being that it is so hot in Greece, looking forward to a dip in the pool at the end of a hot day of touring was something we looked forward to. Silly to close the pool at 6:30.
We requested beach towels for the beach & were given frayed, worn bath towels to use on the exclusive beach club down the street--it was embarrassing.
Paid for internet service but the morning of our flight it would not work so I had to use the reception's computer to check our flight status.
Apparently the Congo Palace is suffering from the economy but from our observance, it is also suffering from negligence. Would not recommend staying there.

This place bills itself as 4 stars, but it is not. To be fair, 70€/night in summer is more of a budget price.

I ended up here because of the location in Glyfada and, as my other choice was booked, I needed to grab a room. From Congo Palace, you can readily navigate to the beach (public or private), walk around Glyfada's prime restaurant/bar/shopping district, or travel to Athens.

The staff was really nice and I'd love to give it higher marks, but the rooms need a lot of work. While my bathroom and sheets were clean, the rug had an ick factor. Bring flip flops. Also, the main rug on the 3rd floor was just so dirty. They should remove it as soon as possible.

The common areas have been redone and are quite nice. Both the lobby and pool area are places I'd want to relax. The pool closes early - maybe 630 - and turns into a pool bar. Breakfast was fine - standard buffet stuff, but the area smelled like ant spray or something and was off putting.

I wouldn't return or recommend to friends until the rooms are remodeled.

We booked this hotel at the last minute for the last few nights of our vacation. This was the only hotel we did not check on Trip Advisor before booking as we hadn't decided whether we wanted to go back to Athens. As a consequence, we were somewhat disappointed. We wanted to be near the sea and had been advised that Glyfada was a good option. The location of this hotel is great- the beach is across the road (a busy road) and there are plenty of shops and restaurants in the other direction- all walking distance. The reception, pool and breakfast area are all very nicely decorated and the reception staff was good. However, having been to some hotels on the islands where we were made to feel like a part of a family, we were surprised that the staff in the restaurant did not even acknowledge our presence. Breakfast was average. We booked 2 rooms as we are a family of 4. My daughter and I had the sea view room on the fourth floor which had a great view. Unfortunately, the room smelled like someone had been chain smoking in it for a very long time. The other negative was the noise. We didn't get much sleep as the traffic noise was very loud. The boys' room was across the hall and much quieter. The mattresses were uncomfortable- quite hard. The bathrooms were large and nicely decorated. We couldn't use the safes in either room. In the boys room, it wasn't secured and in our room, we couldn't access it as the bedside table was blocking the door in which it was located. There was an extra charge for Wifi, which was disappointing. The rooms weren't expensive considering the location, but do your homework before your book.

Room Tip: Choose a room not facing the main road as it is very noisy.

The staff in this hotel are fighting an up hill battle to sell something not worthy of Glyfada. Staff were helpful but after being shown 3 rooms we decided not to stay. Carpets, walls dirty. Needs total revamp. Foyer updated and gives false impression on website. Would not recommend in this condition.Forfeited one nights accommodation .

The only positive I would say is that this hotel is located in a good location with easy access to metro. We were really disappointed with the hotel staff as their attitude was really rude, unprofessional and uncooperative. During our 2 weeks stay, we had to move room 3 times! We stayed in one of their ensuite rooms, as our room had been taken by another family, and that was filthy. The pool area was unused also - and it seemed dirty.

We were misinformed about their breakfast - the omelette had pork in it, and I was told it was just egg - and rest of their food was terrible. It would have been better to eat out. We would not recommend this hotel for the price - we were really disappointed

Very good location, excellent staff and lovely reception area. Looks like a 4 star hotel in the reception, but the rooms need updating. They have only changed the tvs,but hard matresses and 3 star looking rooms. The staff was very polite and helpful and the hotel was opposite the sea, and next to restaurants and glyfadas shopping area. No wifi in the rooms, only in the reception with a charge of 3 euros minimum for 12 hours. Average breakfast.

Room Tip: room 307 was great , sea view rooms are better

The view of the rooms is great. You can see the sea of Glyfada! Ask for a room on the 4rth floor! Very clean and the service is really good! The breakfast is delicious and has variety..you can park your car outside the hotel that has always parking spots.
