“Great Value hotel”
Reviewed September 18, 2012

We stayed in a family room for 4 nights (two twin bedrooms with a shared sitting area plus bathroom). It was clean and a great size with plenty of space for clothes etc. Breakfast offered a good variety (certainly compared to the hotel we stayed at in Kefalonia prior) and the room was pleasant to eat in. Reception were friendly and we were loaned an iron on request and they also arranged a taxi for us to go to the airport.

The location was great for the beach and the local shops and restaurants of Glyfada were a short walk away. The tram stop to get us into Athens (a good 40 min journey) was just round the corner. The trams were clean and air conditioned.

I would definitely recommend a stay here, great value for the price we paid.

Just returned from a 4-day stay in Athens, where we stayed at Palmyra Beach in Glyfada:

Pros:
- Great value >for the price< - I just don't get people who truely expect a 4 ****-standard at 45 EUR per night!
- Good location near a free beach (not too crowded), close to a tram station (~45 minutes to Athens Centre, EUR 1,40), close to the bus stations (take the E22 to great paid beaches in Varkiza and Vougliameni, EUR 1,40) and the Airport shuttle right in front of the hotel (runs 24h every 30 minutes, EUR 5,00). Also, Glyfada is THE place to be if you want to party at nighttime (which is amazing!).
- Friendly, helpful staff at the reception - we had to print a voucher for the rental car, could do so for free (although the usage of the available computers normally costs 3 hrs/ 30 mins - printing included).
- Free fast WLAN working in the rooms as well as in the lobby (at least in our room in the first floor).
- Thick curtains and outdoor window slides make it easy to sleep a bit longer.
- A sea turtle rehabilitation center is just a 3 minutes walk away with free visits possible on weekends - tiny but lovely.

Neutral:
- Breakfast was plentyful, though not truely tasteful - it was perfectly okay for 4 days, but I did get bored after that time.
- The rooms incl bathrooms are not modern or stylish, but that's okay given the price. Everything was clean and working, including the A/C.

Cons:
- The hotel is located next to a busy road. Stay away from the Junior Suites which are facing the main road! In the double rooms (which are facing a quiet side road or - best deal! - the pool area) we had NO problem at all sleeping. Even with the shades and balcony doors closed and the air-con running, you could still hear a few loud cars/ motorcycles running by every now and then, but in general the noise was okay, as long as you have a room NOT facing the main road directly.

Overall, I would recommend the hotel if you plan to spend time at the beach, party at nighttime and visit downtown Athens for the main attractions (which one could easily see in one day).

As a holiday hotel the Palmyra Beach is fine. Its not 5 stars so don't expect all the extras. The staff are friendly and efficient, the pool is clean and the breakfast is adequate.
Rooms are of a good size, as are the bathrooms. I mention this as quite often holiday hotel bathrooms are far too small with showers that require the guest to be a contortionist. That is not the case here. Housekeeping was excellent with towels changed daily. A real plus was the a/c which was fairly quiet
Perfect for access to the beach and the marinas. Glyfada is located south of Athens. Close enough to access the historical sites, far enough away to be relatively peaceful.

Room Tip: The main road to the airport is about 100m away. Try to get a room closer to the beach

The hotel is nice.. the staff are very eager to please and very nice... hotel is close to the beach and seaside restaurants, not to mention the great shopping of Glyfada. also, close to the beach night life which offers an array of music taste.. The rooms are very clean, and the breakfast that was included was modest at best.. the only thing i would suggest for this hotel is to offer a variety of snacks while being poolside.. the service poolside is great and the mythos beers very cold... thank you for making my stay pleasant and relaxing...

The hotel was very nice. The outdoor pool area and patio was relaxing. The staff are super friendly and helped me find my way around. The room was surprisingly big and great value. The shops are close by and a quick 5-10 minute walk to restaurants. The beach is very close too. I would definitely stay again if I was in this area, easy trip to the airport and not far from the Piraeus port.

We just stayed at this hotel during our EF tour last week. First, this place is about 2 minutes from the beach, which is beautiful. The free wifi was great! The rooms were nice with balconies & compared to the other hotels we stayed at it was nice to have working elevators & TV's and a fridge in the room. The food was fine & there were nice people working there. The pool area was also nice and if you wanted a drink by the bar it was about 7 Euro. The only negatives were thin walls and my room faced the busy street and traffic was loud. Others had a pool view which was quieter.
