An amazing hotel located in a magnificent area near Athens!
The service is excellent, the breakfast one of the best i had (everything fresh and a great variety), the private beach infront of the spa center is perfect (very calm and you can stay there all day).
We visited Captain's House (mediterrenean restaurant) which was very good with a very nice view (prices 60-80/person depending on the wine).
We also went to Kohylia restaurant. We weren't very satisfied (the service was very moderate and the sushi we orderred was not the best sushi we've tasted. And it was overly expensive for 2 persons with 30 pieces of suhi and one sake: 120 euros).
The rooma in the main building are old and definetely need renovation, one should preferably book a bungalow.
Overall very positive impressions and will definetely revisit the hotel!

This hotel has all the attributes of a 5 star hotel except for the rooms which are getting old. Definitely in need of a renovation but apart from that way too pricy from room service 10€ surcharge to a simple meal salad 20€ and orange juice €9!!!

Otherwise lovely. Staff are professional and curteous and breakfust buffet is one if the best i have seen.

You will definiteky enjoy.....for a price!

We got married here and returned for our 10th wedding anniversary. So we came back to this resort in June with lots of fond memories. And it more than lived up to our memories and expectations!

First it is located so conveniently close to the main Athens airport, a half an hour drive,  and just over an hour to the centre of Athens, but yet you feel you are on an island. The resort is set on a rather large peninsula, occupying all its expanse and thus surrounded almost by 300 degrees by sea! The beach on the east side is particularly nice, sandy with clear crystal waters.

We splashed out on the room, and we were given a free upgrade as well, so we ended up with a fantastic bungalow, with it's own infinity pool, overlooking the sea and the sunset. It was very very romantic. The room itself was huge, modernly and stylishly decorated, with all the amenities one would expect, and even a small gym area! When we arrived, there was a complimentary bottle of champagne, and a huge bowl of fruit, together with a congratulations note from the hotel manager; we thought this was a very nice gesture.

Ten years on the hotel offers many more options of restaurants, dotted around the resort. We hosted a celebratory dinner for twelve at the 'Ouzeri' which is set just above the sea and offers great fresh fish, and live Greek music over the weekends.

The service was generally very professional and courteous as one would expect from a five start resort.

Room Tip: Opt for one with sunset view!

This is a fabulous hotels, located in an eidyllic area of Athenian outskirts, right on a beach with crystalline waters, and in vast lawns. Very elegantly decorated, it has an aura of comfort and quiet yet classy elegance. The standard rooms are not very big (for their price) yet are comfortable, as expected of a hotel of this price. Food is excellent, service is personable and friendly. Yet all extras (food, drinks) are way too pricey.

Very big territory, nice beach, exellent service. Standart room small, very small bathroom, not 5 star level. Breakfast very good, with big variety. Fine restaurants, but overpriced. All the drinks in the bar are overpriced. Coctails cost 18-20 euro. No free parking. For 5 star hotel with very expencive rooms its a shame to take 11 euro per day for parking, But generally quallity of the hotel is high enough.

I stayed here for four days with an elderly relative, as a treat for her successful recovery from surgery. We booked a standard room via booking.com but were upgraded to an extraordinary suite upon arrival, a very generous and much appreciate gesture.

The resort has one of the most privileged locations in the area, a whole peninsula to itself, with beaches and accommodation on either side (east and west). It is relatively large but retains an intimate feel, due to excellent arrangement and landscaping - it is lovely just walking around the area of an evening (though you can call a little buggy from reception if you'd rather not walk). However, there are several places in the peninsula where you are aware of the major coastal motorway (Athens-Sounion) - never really intrusive, but clearly destroying any illusion that you are on an island.

I would say that the best rooms are the bungalows on the eastern/northeastern side (ideally those where you cannot see/hear the distant motorway, mentioned above), hidden in thick vegetation but with gorgeous views themselves, and large private patios with lawns and sometimes also private pool. This side of the resort has two beaches (all beaches are accessible by all residents of the hotel, btw, which is excellent): the main one, pebbly sand and the most manicured, but rather crammed with loungers/umbrellas and ALL the children in the resort, because of ease of access and presence of daytime taverna/cafe (lovely food and service). The other beach on that side is a 5min stroll away, a bit smaller (but not tiny) and more shingly/pebbly, but quite pretty, and amazingly quieter and emptier (folks tend to congregate in the same place, which serves those of us seeking peace very well). We two were the only people on it for days on end - bliss!

Lovely-looking rooms (though in larger clusters) are also on the western, 'wilder' side, less green and more exposed but facing the sunset and open sea, perched over a large shingle beach which I also cannot imagine ever getting crowded, due to its size. One downside of that beach is a large, hideous, incomplete building right in the middle, which was probably destined to be another restaurant/bar but was never finished. It is strikingly at odds with the gorgeous, thoughtful architecture of the rest of the resort (lovely stone, timber and concrete, in nicely scaled volumes), being huge, lumpy and formally ungainly. I would strongly recommend they demolish this beast pronto and, if necessary, build a small, one-storey pavilion to house a tasteful little taverna/cafe. I should say that the beach is large enough so one should be able to avoid this desolate thing, though it is visible from several of the rooms nearest it.

The main building, which is were we stayed, is a classic 3-4 storey 60s block (which is when the resort was first built), which I find very elegant and unintrusive in its placement. All rooms have balconies, east or west, and, though we did not stay in one, I can imagine that even the cheapest rooms, especially if slightly higher up, would have great views. Our suite was large and excessively luxurious, the way, I suspect, that your former-eastern-block-oligrach would like it, with three TV sets, an entire comms network of cables and gadgets on a desk (isn't wi-fi all that anyone needs these days? that was obviously available, too, and for free, as it should), a million switches all doing the same thing and confusing everyone, and an entire treadmill in the humungous bathroom... More importantly, it was tastefully decorated in cream colours and timber, new and spotless, fabulous mattresses on adjustable beds, gorgeous sofas (in front of largest TV, great for Olympics-action-watching!) fluffy towels, great products etc. If they show similar care in all their rooms, then this bodes very well indeed. Once glitch: there was no cold water running from all but one of the 6 (!) taps/shower-heads/bath-spouts in the bathroom... Also, strangely for such an expensive room, due to its first-floor and near-reception location, the large balcony looked on the hotel entrance/car-park and picked up all the related noises, as well as offering sea view.

Food: Breakfast excellent, with huge variety of usual and unusual things (lots of fresh fruit, various cooked/savoury things, dozens of pastries, puddings, cakes, pies etc) all great quality, in rather drab, massive hall, but with much nicer terrace (recommended). 4-5 more restaurants for dinner, but, here is the downside, only open on rotation (at least when we were there). Because we didn't plan this properly, we ended up trying only two: the Ouzeri, which has a stunning location and fantastic fresh seafood/fish fare; and the Kohylia, the most at-odds aspect of this consistently good resort, which was so bad on all fronts that we thought it was some kind of weird joke... (hideous 'polynesian' food, everything gluey, deep-fried and tasteless-though-sickly-sweet, including the awful 'specialty cocktails' for the most stonkingly expensive prices).

Service was great throughout, with genuinely competent, friendly and helpful people, yet generally unitrusive, as they should be.

So, why just 'very good'? Because it is really, really expensive throughout. The beaches are very nice, but they are not the best beaches in Greece. Same with room and common area decor/ambience, and with food/ambience at Ouzeri (dinner) and beach taverna (lunch). The place charges very close to Amanresort prices (for its comparable rooms, such as the suites and bungalows, and for its food/drinks etc), though it is well below that pinnacle of true luxury, which also picks its location accordingly. If you are happy with the cheapest rooms, which an Aman would not offer, and you don't want to travel far from Athens (which is why we went there), and, consequently, are happy to compromise beach quality and 'island feeling', then you'll be happy here. But if you can hop on a speedboat for a couple of hours (or little plane for 30mins), you can access some of the most stunning beaches in Europe (e.g. Naxos, Paros, Mykonos) and stay in tasteful and well-groomed places for much less, or in true luxury for the same price.

Room Tip: NE bungalows, if you can afford them; or NW/W bungalows/rooms; or main-building rooms but on higher...
