“Bed bug infestation”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 29, 2011

I stayed here for one night in Aug 2010, for a nearby wedding. Unfortunately, this was a huge mistake!

The rooms were filthy (including linen, showers and towels), and I think I bought back some bed bugs in my luggage. The shower was a drip hose behind the toilet, and the toilet flush was not immediately obvious.... which meant that I had to search around the toilet with my bare hands to find the flush. Yuck.

I think its a family run hotel, which has let its standards slip. If you so go to this area, I would advise you to spend some money and stay at the more expensive hotels. Its worth it in the long run. It has cost me 200 pounds to exterminate the bed bugs from my house. So far.

On the plus side, the location is stunning and beaches are beautiful. So if you must stay there, go straight to the beach!

Saron staff were friendly and accommodating. Beach and Pool were as advertised. Rooms were clean. Hotel is as advertised 2/3 star and priced appropriately. We got exactly what we expected for the location and money.

My husband & I spent the first night of our 3-wk Greek vacation at the Saron Hotel and there are no words to describe how disappointed we were. We had to search for someone to check us in & then she was clearly put out at having to do so. Desk staff had no knowledge or else lacked the energy to divulge any knowledge of the area restaurants, sites, etgc. Our room was horrible. The bed was OLD and harder than the floor, furniture falling apart and very sparse. The room itself had absolutely no decor, no a/c. The bathroom was the worst. We had NO, yes, this is true, NO HOT WATER. However, I guess that didn't matter because the shower stall was broken down, the hand held shower not working properly with the wall mount broken and a filty shower curtain. The toilet seat old and no toilet paper holder. The electricity is not updated and so it blew out my hair dryer even with the adapter. There was minimal lighting, a few lightbulbs, had to open the curtains to get some light. No security lock on the door. The hotel "restaurant" kitchen so small & dirty that we never considered eating there besides there were only a few items on the menu. We never received a receipt or statement of our stay there - girl at the desk stated it was "all taken care of" meaning we had paid for it online. Restaurant staff never acknowledged us as hotel guests. It appeared to be the residence of the family who owns it. All we wanted to do was get up in the morning and LEAVE!!! All of this we received for 125 Euro, the highest price of ALL the hotels we stayed at in Greece. Also it was very hard to find because the hotel sign is so small and of it's appearance as someone's home - we had to ask twice where it was and then drove by twice since the hotel sign is only visible from one way. We would not recommend this hotel to our worst enemy or for our dog!!!! Avoid this like the plague!! Oh, said they have a pool but it was not functioning and not kept up.

We stayed here because we had a couple of nights to spend in the South of Attica and couldn't get in anywhere else. The hotel is on the corner of quite a busy arterial road and could not be described as secluded. But it is only a few minutes' walk from a popular sandy beach (I would recommend scrambling further along the headland at the other end of the beach to find little coves to swim from) and is very conveniently located for both the Temple of Poseidon and the international airport. The rooms are simply furnished and not large, but they are clean. The interior decoration and furnishings in the public areas of the hotel downstairs have mild curiosity value (pool table, large stuffed toys etc). There is a handsome swimming-pool. The service is very friendly: the nice German manageress/owner(?) was quite willing to let us keep our room into the afternoon, to fit in with our flight, and a large number of young men (not easily to be distinguished from the guests) seem to wander about rather randomly and are happy to help out. It all feels like an enjoyably eccentric family enterprise, but one can't easily work out precisely who is related to whom, or how. In comparison with other hotels to the south of Athens, a stay here is a real bargain.

I stayed at HOTEL SARON for a week in august 2008. It was fantastic to stay with my family. It is a nice, silent place, perfect for relax. The nice location near the beach, and the forest. The rooms with aircondition, refrigerator, balcony (view sea), phone and TV, internet, are very clean. The Hotel is beautiful with swimming pool, restaurant (fantastic food), bar and parking. Service is very good. A pleasent stay. Thank you!!

Saron hotel is very very friendly. It's a good place to come with your children. The rooms are clean and confortable. The swimming pool is so big and the water so clear. The staff is so kindly that they make anything for you to make you happy. The sand beach is at about 3 minutes by foot. After a few days , you feel really relaxed !

Having to attend a wedding in the region of Sounio my husband and I stayed at the Saron hotel for a weekend. With pine woods all around us and the sea near by, we felt we had made a good choice. And we were not wrong, the athmosphere at the hotel was relaxed and cosy with the owners - a greek guy and his german wife - proving very friendly and helpful. A wonderful stay all in all which we wouldn't mind repeating :-)
