Poseidon's temple at sunset is beautiful, especially at sunset! W had planned this as an alternative to the fireworks we would usually have on July 4th.
We booked through Viatour, whose website describes the trip, including a glass of sparkling wine at sunset.
1) THERE IS NO WINE!!!!!! When we and other participants asked we were told that wine has not been part of the tour ever and was not planned, despite the listed inclusions in the advertisement. The tour guide's attempts to divert the discussion away from the non-existent wine should make her a candidate to become a diplomat or White House Press Secretary.
2) While the temple is impressive, especially at sunset, we spent over 2.75 hours getting there starting with 1.25 hours driving in circles in Athens picking folks up at their hotels, just 45 minutes at the temple Including the monuments folks chasing us out of the area just 10 minutes after the sunset, and then 1.5 hours riding home. This is, IMHO, a poor travel time-to-activities time ratio. Tour would be improved if we started earlier and stopped at another historic site/point of interest along the way or for dinner somewhere along the way overlooking the ocean.
