We stayed in the Grecotel Cape Sounio in May, just a few days after it had opened for the season.
The hotel is beautifully located across the temple of Poseidon. To eat breakfast in the morning with a view of the temple and the sea is just breathtaking. The people who designed this hotel, really know their stuff: an abundance of plants and flowers, all rooms are bungalows/villas placed against the hill side so you get a lot of privacy, the architecture is stunning, designed to make the hotel fit in with the environment, as if it has been there for as long as the Sounio temple itself.
We were travelling with our 2 children, active boys aged 3 and 4, and were a bit worried that they wouldn't fit in in such a luxury hotel. Needless to say we were very wrong. Everyone in the hotel staff did their utmost best to make our stay as comfortable as possible. From guest relations manager to maitre d'hotel to pool boy, they do everything they can to make you feel welcome and at home.
To sum it up: if you are looking for a luxury vacation with a relaxed atmosphere, Grecotel Cape Sounio is your hotel!

The hotel is close to Cape Sounio, just an hour and a half from Athens centre. Really nice rooms, some with private pool, this place fits into the surroundings (ancienties etc). Service was medium but that wasn't a spoiler for us. A bit overpriced, though.
Recommended for visitors but also for Athenians who want a nice getaway

My husband and myself visited the hotel for a wedding reception. The venue and the view is amazing! We booked a suite bungalow- although the price was for 5 star hotel, the amenities were far from it! the bungalow and the bungalow's swimming pool were dirty!
We wanted to make a surpise to the newly weds- we spoke to the Director Of Sales specifically emphasing that it was a surprise and the Director Of Sales called the newly weds and revealed our surpise! Spoiled everything!
the rest of the staff was very helpful and polite! great spa and massage! great breakfast!
We came to the conclusion that everything is over-priced just because of the view, NOT what they offer at the hotel.

I went with my husband in August for our wedding anniversary. We stayed there for 3 days. We had a garden view bungalow in an uphill with a spectacular view to the sea and a pine-tree hill but a bit far from the main hotel. So if you want to climb the uphill on your way back from the beach on a summer normal August day with 37-38C degrees you need at least to be fit!!! The room was very clean, excellent decorated with a nice double jacuzzi (which is in the same room).

The staff is very friendly, polite and ready to assist you whenever you wish. Because of our anniversary we were offered a heart shaped chocolate cake. The breakfast was one of the best I ever had with a great variety. The breakfast room had a breathtaking view to the ancient temple of Poseidon and the wide blue sea. You start your day gazing this spectacular view. What’s more relaxing???

The beach is nice although it’s not so big. The sun loungers are comfortable where you can enjoy a beverage, a snack or a light meal. The only disadvantage is the high pricing of food at all restaurants including the beach bar. Don’t miss having your drink at the lounge bar during sunset…it’s a magical moment….

I would definitely recommend this hotel for a romantic getaway…

Our bungalow had a flair of greek retro movies of the 70s. Tastefully decorated with a great ambience and a chilled bottle of white wine and fruits was expecting us. View was splendid and although I had booked a mountain view bungalow we had been given a sea view one with an amazing frame of the Poseidon's temple. Dinner in the Asian Restaurant was of good quality, service was subtle and smooth but considering the fact tha the wow factor was missing I found the cost of 110 euros for two persons out of reality, especially when one could have spend the same amount on one of Athen's most awarded reastaurants for a brilliant gourmet dinner..
My negative comment would definetely go to some maintenance details in the bathroom area ( ants coming in through holes in the window frame, excess silicon sealers along the bathtub are inexcusable). I didn't make a fass about those but it's perfectly logical if somebody who pays 300 euros/night would. Staff could have beeb more into it but again Greeks were never into formalities. It's hard two change that
