I stopped off here on a whim and thoroughly enjoyed the few minutes I spent there. Lots of history of the area - both barbed wire/ranching and a little Route 66 section. The woman on staff was friendly and knowledgeable. The best part is that the museum is free - so drop a couple bucks in the donation jar on your way out and help preserve the good work that has been done here.

This was at least my third visit and I again left with much unstudied. Though it's built around barbed wire, it paints a picture of ranching and the cowboy life. You can get a sense of that history with a fairly brief walk through or spend lots of time studying the different types of wire and the equipment used to make and maintain them. One room is dedicated to Route 66 in Texas.

we just stopped off here as we had some time to spare and were fascinated not just with the barbed wire but all the other exhibits and photos they have--well worth a visit.

You just...must visit this museum. Not only is everyone just downright friendly, but the museum is quite a plus plus. So many quite interesting things to see...and talking with the locals - it's great. The main room is bright and full of all the things that can actually make barbed wire interesting.
This is a terrific place.
Visit!
Enjoy!

This is a very good snapshot of Texas pioneer days. There is a Route 66 Museum in the same building.
