We've been to the Saturday morning Farmer's Market and it gets very busy. Get there by or before 9 AM for the best selection of produce and baked goods. Vendors run out of the choice selections quick! Also a good place to bring your well-behaved pets. There is no fee for going to the Farmer's Market, just what you buy.

We have also been to Chestnut Square for the Haunted Tour and that was a lot of fun!!! It was a great evening out for us -- a date night. Would also be fine for kids not too scared in the dark, but young enough who are not too old for some cheesy laughs - probably 7 - 13 year olds. Teenagers do tend to lose their sense of humor. ;) There is a fee for the Haunted Tour.

We did go back to Chestnut Square in the daylight for a tour of the historic homes. There was a special event going on so it was busy. Check their website for event schedules. Sometimes there is something going on where they have the area / homes decorated special which makes it extra nice, other times not, but still nice place to see and learn about all the history in that area of McKinney. Some areas of Chestnut Square are open without a fee, some houses and then to get a guided tour, there is a fee.

Loved walking around here, looking in the windows, stopped at a couple restaurants. Plenty of parking available just off the square.

I have only been here for the Farmer's Market but it was a great experience. It is set outside between the charming historical houses which really added to the ambiance. Everyone there was very welcoming and generous with samples from wine to beef jerky to salsa and everything in between.
I was disappointing that I had not brought more cash as most of the vendors do not accept credit cards. A select few do, however.

I definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a fun Saturday morning activity. I also recommend coming here if you have a craving for fresh produce and goodies made by locals.

There was a taste testing going on for home made ice cream a couple of weekends ago. Very interesting shops with a plethora of booths set up with all sorts of items & ideas! Wood Art work, Homemade soaps & lotions, Local Honey, Jewelry Art, Farmer's Market of delightful & fresh crops and Petting areas for children to see animals up close & personal. There was also a wonderful band playing music on the front porch of the main building. Entertainment of music, etc. to keep you so busy the day passes quickly.

A great place to go on Saturdays with the family. Terrific history (last time we were there they had an actual, working blacksmith making tongs), a pretty setting, and excellent produce and artisans. We love it!
