“Great experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 1, 2013 via mobile

A friend and I spent the day in historic McKinney. Lunch at Rick's was wonderful. We shared a chophouse salad, and divided our entrees, buttermilk fried chicken and salmon. The servers are very attentive. The ambience was perfect.

“Love Love Love”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 30, 2013

I really love all the food here. Rick is really nice and makes a point to visit with every table. He remembers people for previous visits and makes you feel at home. This is not a place to go every day but a really nice one for special occasions or just a good meal out. Thanks Rick!

“My Favorite Place!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 29, 2013

Love the food! I have eaten there many times; and although we no longer live in Texas, when we visit, we eat at Rick's. Everything is excellent: the steaks are tender and well-prepared to order, the side dishes and appetizers are delicious, and their hamburgers are the best! (I'm drooling as I write!) We went to brunch there the last time we were in town, and it was equally good. They put on a great spread of traditional breakfast fare as well as prime rib, desserts, chili, and lots of other great food!
It's in a great old building with tin ceilings, exposed brick walls, and heavy wood booths lining the edges of the room with tables in the middle.
The service is always fabulous.

“Great Food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 24, 2013

Clean nice atmosphere. Very well cooked food. Worth the value. We had the Crapetbagger, which is a signature dish for them. The steak was perfectly cooked and very juciy, like most carpets that I munch down on.

“Make a special trip to McKinney to experience Ricks Chophouse”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 24, 2013

Food: The food is incomparable. The steaks are what you would expect of a top-notch steak restaurant, but the shrimp grits is a special dish and is more like a shrimp risotto (cooked with some bacon). Deserts - if you do not try the pecan pie at this restaurant at least once in your lifetime, you are missing something special.

Housed in a 130 year-old hotel/ building, the look and feel are true to the period, which sets a great background for the excellent meal. The service was impressive, both in the bar and dining area. The staff attentiveness, attention to detail, and their ability to make you feel important is an impressive feat. Excellent wine list with some of the best wine choices in the northern Dallas area. Kudos to the sommelier for the exceptional selection and unique finds (at reasonable prices).

If you find yourself wanting a special dinner in the northern Dallas metro area, it is worth the effort to make a trip. This is a unique find - a privately owned steak restaurant in a historical building/ setting with exceptional food and service. This is not what you would expect from a traditional five-star chain steakhouse - it is better!
