A must go to Casual restaurant in Mission/McAllen on the Rio Grande. Gigantic pork tenderloin sandwiches. Fridays are Fish Specials with tasty fried cod, catfish, shrimp combos to be had. Dine on picnic tables on the deck or inside. Live Music some days. warning - Almost everything on the menu is FRIED. Except the salads - lol.

Nice place to have lunch, 6 of us went to River side for lunch pork tenderloin sandwich ( days special ) set at tables along the Rio Grande River, fun outdoors. This place is not fancy low key but serve huge tenderloin sandwiches, ( think dinner plate ) we all split ours, with side order of fries. Tasted good filled us up about 15:00 for the 2 of us. Service was good friendly. Will go again.

This place on the Rio Grande is a favorite of winter Texans. It must be for the entertainment events (some of them free), or because of the 1 or 2 hour boat tours that leave and return here. ($10 and $20)

We were told it was renowned for tenderloins. We stopped in for lunch, and ordered one tenderloin and one country fried steak. They were barely edible--we left half of each. They were straight out of a box, overly salted and spiced to make them edible. Texture and grayish color of "meat" suggested textured vegetable protein.

These were served on styrofoam plates. No utensils were offered. The $2.00 cup of coffee was served in a paper cup. If saving water is excuse for this, other options should be considered.

Total bill (2 sandwiches and 2 coffees) was $20.00. Refills may have been available, but no reason to stick around to find out.

This is a great place right on the Rio Grande. There is outside seating and inside seating.
There is a big [--] fan in the main building that helps cool folks down when they are dancing
to the ever so talented band. It has been owned by the same family for 31 years! The bar maid was the daughter and a wonderful host.
There is a Riverside Cruiser you can take an hour tour down the Rio Grande. Call ahead for times and dates they don't go out everyday.
The food and service is very good and it's a great family and friends outing. The tables are long and are shared so make way for some new friends. The Winter Texans are great and most are from the midwest. I bought my Mother a place down in Mission a couple years ago and she is 76 years young because of it. This is one of her favorite Sunday afternoon outings and I can see why it's a blast.

If you're looking for a Rio Grande view while eating good bar food, this is the place. My only complaint is that almost everything is fried, so we often just go for drinks and light appetizers. They have dancing many days of the week which draw big crowds. Outside patio is very nice. They also offer boat rides, but we've never done it so I can't say much about that.
