“Excellent 19th century courthouse”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 22, 2012

I really enjoyed my DIY tour of the Presidio County courthouse. It is famous in Texas and justifiably so. You can reach the cupola by taking the elevator to the third floor and then stairs up to the top. It offers a 360-degree view of Marfa and the surrounding countryside, including the Davis Mountains in the distance. The district court courtroom is available when court is not in session. An excellent example of 19th century Texas courthouses.

“The Best Courthouse in Texas”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 12, 2012

One of the few "original" early post-Civil War courthouses. You can just walk through all parts -- the spectacular main court room, the magnificent cupola with views for hundreds of miles. If he's available, drop by to meet County Judge (who in Texas is also the chief county administrator) Paul Hunt -- a sophisticated and most interesting individual.

“A bit run down but well worth visiting”

The courthouse is nice but has seen better days. Still, the view from the top floor should not be missed. Plus, it's free!

“View from the top”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 23, 2012

Visitors can go up to the dome of the courthouse and view the city. We just took the elevator to the third floor and walked up the remaining steps. Because it is all windows it gets hot up there but the view is spectacular. It's free but not something posted. We found out about this from a local (our sincerest thanks to him).

“Great pit stop!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 9, 2012

Awesome little historical building, with a great view from the dome on top. Just happened to walk past it while stretching our legs on a road trip, and very glad to have popped our heads inside! I would also recommend heading down the road to Manny's for a huge lunch, afterward. Anybody in town will be able to tell you exactly where it is, and the prices were practically free compared to Chicago. Win!
