I really enjoyed the three nights I spent at this unique hotel. The corner room I booked was nice-sized and well decorated; the bathroom was small but serviceable. The staff went out of their way to be helpful and provide useful information to make the most of our visit to Marfa. There is a well-equipped exercise room with free bottled water and apples. We enjoyed the lively bar and dinner at the restaurant.

But the best part is the location. Right on the main street, down from the courthouse and within walking distance of all the restaurants and local bars you want to go to, all the galleries and shops you want to visit, the Judd "Block" and a short drive from the Chinati Foundation.

There are several hospitality options in Marfa, but this one, we felt was the best.

Room Tip: Corner rooms are larger and have lots of light. Facing the main street is fine because there is hard...

we spent two nights at the Paisano so that we could take an all-day tour of the Chinati Foundation, which was totally marvelous. The hotel is a bit old but a very attractive and interesting place to stay. It looks like the Majestic in Mexico City. One problem with age is that there is no elevator nor is one needed since there are barely 11/2 floors to climb. However, the chair by the desk fell over when I sat on it and was broken. The service was terrific; one lady gave me a map to show me where the dog park was; she also knew how to get to Chinati.

this is a art deco styled (or Spanish something on a marker) hotel that has somewhat been updated. we stayed in a suite with a private balcony. the kitchenette was fully furnished but we spent most of our time in the numerous sitting areas within the hotel. Lots of history and merchandise available. We will be back again in August for the lights.

All of The Hotel Paisano staff my wife and I encountered during our stay were; out-going, friendly, helpful and knowledgable concerning all aspects of the hotel. That includes; front desk, restaurant, shops and housekeeping.

The reservation handling, reception at the front desk, room, dining experience, food quality, service in the restaurant, staff's friendliness and graciousness, hotel ambiance and overall stay at The Hotel Paisano either met or exceeded our expectations.

When our travel plans take my wife and I back to Marfa we will be staying at The Hotel Paisano.

Room Tip: Guests should consider staying in the Rock Hudson or Elizabeth Taylor rooms. Definitely have at leas...

This hotel is really lovely outside and clean inside. But the room we had was located up two flights of stairs (no elevator) and down two very long hallways! We couldn't believe it! Our friend is handicapped and his wife and he were located next to our room! A long hike for him to his room.
And, then, the room we had was so very minuscule with a so-called balcony which amounted to a window sill with a railing! The "bathroom" was so tiny, my husband couldn't find space for his shaving kit! The tub is unsafe for elderly people to shower--no hand rail! No coffee pot inside room and no breakfast provided either!

Then, we found out they have much larger rooms --some with huge accommodations! Be sure to ask about larger rooms when making reservations!
The hotel staff are not on duty at night; so, call 911 if you need help!

We were very disappointed! And, we'd stay elsewhere the next time!

Stayed in a spacious room with a private patio with a fireplace, lighted it when came back from dinner at their wonderful restaurant, and had such a warmth feeling on a cold night.
Our room overlooked the Presidio County Courthouse that is an example of Second Empire Style.
Neatly maintained old building with top of the line amenities,

We loved the ambience and drinks around the fountain. As expected, breakfast was basic. We ate dinner at the nearby Cochineal, which was wonderful. (I still miss their former restaurant, Etats Unis in Manhattan) Unexpectedly, we were given a large apartment with a spacious balcony----ideal for a midday siesta. A wonderfully relaxed, non-chain, atmosphere.
