Great staff and beautiful lobby and courtyard. The room with the Giant memorabilia was quite fun. The rooms were cozy and clean. The pool looked nice and so did the restaurant, didn't have time to visit any of them though. A lovely hotel in a cute little town.

This place is seemingly the class of the class in Marfa. We had a suite with a shared balcony overlooking the courtyard/restauarant and it was excellent. The suite also had a full fridge (but without ice trays) and microwave enabling us to have a couple of meals from my gigantic pistachio fried (like chicken fry) steak which I had in the restaurant, There is no elevator which is very hard on old folks staying on the second floor although help with luggage is available. Also the ice machine on a different floor was in and out of service requiring a trip to the kitchen for ice some times.

(If they found room for an elevator in the old sister hotel in Van Horn, why not here)

Room Tip: The suites are worth the price upgrade methinks

Our 8 person tour group stayed here before returning to El Paso at the end our trip to Big Bend National Park. As other reviewers have said this hotel is of historic interest, particularly to movie buffs. It is the hotel where the actors in the movie “Giant” stayed (Rock Hudson, Elizabeth Taylor, James Dean, etc.). There is a separate small room with “Giant” memorabilia and a CD player to watch the movie – spouse and I watch most of the movie there. The downstairs lobby area was elegantly furnished and the outdoor patio with fountain quite attractive and relaxing. Our room was “old” – small, but nicely apportioned. As another reviewer stated, the bathroom was VERY small; and in ours the side of the toilet was against the wall (think what that means!). We also had dinner in the hotel and the food was good – I do not remember what I had, so it was not one of those – best meals I ever had experiences. Overall a very clean, historic place to stay with very helpful staff. I would stay here again if in Marfa

The cast and crew of Giant stayed at the Hotel Paisano and we stayed in James Dean's room. The hotel is filled with photos documenting Giant and other movies filmed in Marfa. The hotel has a very nice western style lobby, a small small pool and a pleasant courtyard. The rooms themselves are quite small (at least the James Dean and Historic rooms that our party stayed in). The James Dean room has small balcony looking out unfortunately on a very unattractive alley including a rather trashy backyard with a constantly barking dog. The Historic room has same view. The hotel restaurant was OK although the live music was too loud for our tastes. The country-fried steak was way too heavily breaded; other dishes we sampled were much better. The wait staff was pleasant and efficient.

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking the courtyard are much to be preferred over those facing the back alley.

We stayed at this beautiful landmark hotel over Labor Day weekend. It is the weekend of the Marfa Lights Festival. The hotel is beautifully designed and decorated. Wonderful courtyard with plenty of seating around the fountain to sit and enjoy the weather. The national landmark hotel was used as a home away and headquarters for the cast and crew of the film Giant in 1955. While our room and bathroom were a bit small, it was comfortable and beautifully decorated with a small patio that had an outdoor fireplace! Very accommodating staff. The hotel has several shops within to find a variety of things. We had a wonderful dinner in nearby Alpine at Reata's. on the way back to Marfa, stop at the observation point to look for the Marfa Mystery Lights. We saw them! Great stay in a small town.

Room Tip: We were traveling with a large group. We sat in the courtyard most nights to end the evening. While we weren't a rowdy bunch, I hope we didn't disturb occupants in rooms with balconies overlooking the courtyard. Our room was on Mezzanine level with private patio/fireplaces on the opposite side.
